Edmonds, Washington is a flower lined coastal city about 15 minutes from Seattle.
Our house is located down a few dead ends which allows great areas for kids to play and for walking/running/biking.
Everything is within walking distance of the home including riding the Sounder train into Seattle, riding the ferry for a day trip to Poulsbo and Kingston or visiting the Washington coast including the splendor of the Olympic National Park - one of the highest rated national parks in the US (don’t miss this while you’re staying).
PLU 9709 is our vacation home and we’re happy to offer both homes if needed for longer exchanges.
The space
This is a new home and is completely open concept. It has 4 bedrooms, 1 huge bonus room (with indoor kids-only trampoline, TV and lots of toys)! The house also has 2 full bathrooms-one on the main floor next to the bedroom and the other has double sinks and is located on the second floor.
The house is 3200 sq ft.
We can certainly accommodate more people as there is a lot of space for mats (we have 2 twin mats and a twin mattress) on floors, etc.
We also have on-demand hot water. So we never run out of hot water, so perfect for large…or smaller groups!
We are a cat free home and will need to exchange with non-cat homes as my husband is allergic. We have a hypoallergenic dog (mini-goldendoodle). She has hair and not fur and will not be in the home unless previously agreed upon. We prefer exchanges where you can watch our dog (at which time no other dogs can be here - she likes all the attention :-)). She is low maintenance - no walks needed and MUCH prefers NO car rides. We can arrange for a neighbor/pet sitter to come in and pet sit if you'd like to take a whole day or days to explore the area. Our neighbors all help each other greatly.
Office/guest room #1: Double Futon Bed and desk
Office/guest room #2: Queen Bed and desk
Kids bedroom: Double Bunk beds (sleeps 4)
Play room downstairs - we can add a twin mattress on the floor if needed. We also have 2 twin mats that we can include for a total of 3 twin mats/mattresses.
We have a flat yard with a large outdoor trampoline. Our house sits at the end of an easement, so its down a dead-end with only 2-3 neighbors that may pass by. Everyone has kids and we are a VERY friendly neighborhood - you will likely meet them during your stay! There is about 27 kids under the age of 10 in our neighborhood. You may also be invited to outdoor theatre nights, Halloween and Easter parties, Garage Pub parties, sports parties, National Night Out (August)...and well...you get the hint...we like/love our neighbors!
Our front yard has a basketball hoop and a little patch of grass to play a little soccer. We also have a pickle ball net.
You are free to use our Peloton also (in the garage).
Guest access
This is a 2 story home.
We have lots of kids and adult bikes (trail a bike, e-bikes, regular bikes for both toddlers and adults) and toys at the house. We also have an e-scooter. You will find it very easy to get around Edmonds from our home without the need for a car.
Notes
We have housecleaners and ask that you cover the $250 cleaning fee via Venmo prior to your stay. We keep a very tidy house (no shoes) that you will find clean and comfortable!
No smoking please

Neighbourhood
We have about 27 kids under the age of 10 in our immediate neighborhood. While you wouldn’t know it because it is still quiet, this is a very friendly neighborhood where everyone knows everyone! They will definitely greet you if you see them outside and they will know you are visiting as we look after each other a lot.
Our house is a 10 minute walk to the grocery stores (both general grocery store and a local organic store called PCC), 20min walk into downtown Edmonds with very cute local shops and amazing restaurants and a 25 minute walk to the beach/ferry (to Kingston which sends you off to the Olympic National Park).
You can also walk to the Sounder train that runs about twice a day (check schedules as it changes depending on sporting events in Seattle). The Sounder train is about a 20 minute scenic walk toward the water!
Getting to my home
We can arrange airport pick up if it lines up with schedules and can leave our car possibly also for a globe or reciprocal car exchange - we have a 7 seat Toyota SUV).
Nearest airport
SeaTac airport is the closest airport (about 40min away).
Bellingham airport is an hour away
Vancouver airport is 2.5-3 hours away
Portland airport is 3 hours away
Getting around
You don’t need a car when in Edmonds as it is super walkable, but you do need transport from the airport (about $75-$100 each way via Uber, Lyft, Taxi).
Car is recommended, but not required.
Uber (rideshare) can get you to the Light rail and take you to many places like the University of Washington, Downtown Seattle, airport etc. (this is different than the Sounder train).
So know you have a lot of options without a car.

People Like Us Local Guide
I am happy to show you around Seattle, Edmonds and the surrounding area. I love meeting people from around the world and hope to even host you for a meal!
My husband and our two littles along with their grandma stayed at Ghazal’s home in Edmonds for a week. Everything was great — beautiful & clean home with lots of space to make it plenty comfortable for our group. My 2.5 year old especially loved both the indoor and outdoor trampolines. Ghazal was a gracious host and easy to communicate with.
Ghazal is great at communication and making sure everything is clear. At the end even though we didn't do the exchange, it was great having a connection established with her! Very much looking forward to the exchange next time.
Thanks Shan! It was unfortunate you had to cancel, but we welcome you anytime!
Ghazal is the best! She is a wonderful communicator and a very thoughtful, respectful guest. They were a party of 9 and you would never had known anyone had stayed in our home! I look forward to many more connections throughout the years. If you are looking for a PLU connection in the Seattle area I highly recommend connecting with Ghazal:)
We were happy we could offer our home to Ghazal and lovely family and friends for their last minute request. They were easy to communicate with. We were glad we had the chance to meet them before we headed out. They left our house clean and tidy as they found it. They are very welcome should they come back to Victoria.
Ghazal and her friend showed up in my house with a big smile and hug. They are super active, animal loving fun ladies and we connected immediately. I truly felt that they are "people like us", we share similar values and sense of respect to each other's homes. I cannot wait to visit Ghazal's lake house, and I would love to join her girlfriends' getaway trip there!
We were delighted we could provide a last minute non sim swap for this lovely family. They were easy to communicate with, and we got things sorted very quickly. We had a quick visit with them on their arrival. Their two little boys were so sweet, they even signed the thank you note! They left us some thoughtful gifts, left the house spotless, and were kind enough to water some of our outdoor plants. Thank you! We would certainly welcome them back anytime, and we are excited to be going to their holiday cottage sometime in the near future.
Emma and her family were the first to stay at our primary home. My husband, more than me, was a bit skeptical, but Emma left the house in great order. I would welcome her back anytime and highly recommend her for an exchange. She was wonderful in communicating with also.
Leanne is simply amazing. To allow a large group into a home is not the easiest. She did not hesitate to help host us for a "mini" family reunion. We had an amazing time in her cozy home with an amazing park in the backyard essentially. Her daughter also delighted both the kids and adults with a plane tour! We are beyond grateful for the memories made. Hope we are able to host them soon! Thank you!
Shan couldn’t make it on the exchange due to a last minute sickness in the family, but had communicated so well throughout as we were going to host a non-reciprocal exchange. Hopefully we can do it again sometime.
Christelle was a great guest! She was highly communicative and helpful in tending to our home. We would exchange with her again any day!
We absolutely loved having Heather and Keith at our lake house. We were fortunate to stay at their beautiful Victoria (Canada) home a year prior as our first PLU exchange and almost a year later, host them at our place. Heather is wonderful with communication and left our home in amazing condition. Thanks for being our guests-come back anytime!

We had Marta (Halyna’s daughter) book our place. We had 6 guests and really had great response and communication leading up to, during and after the stay. They were our first PLU guests-we were thrilled to have them and would highly recommend them as guests!
Tomoko was an amazing host! We had a girls long weekend in NYC. Her apartment is tidy, clean and in a perfect location in Long Island City-just across the water from the hustle and bustle of NYC.
I’m not much of a cat person (much prefer dogs), but her cat was awesome…and I confirm that she does indeed act more like a dog as Tomoko states.
We can’t wait to welcome Tomoko to our lakehouse in Bellingham when she’s ready to visit the Pacific Northwest for some swimming or skiing!
We loved everything about Heather and Keith’s home. The convenient location close to downtown Victoria and backed to a park was perfect.
We were greeted by Keith and Heather, toured the home and left to a clean, cozy home. The generous thought of fresh cut flowers in each room, welcome basket full of yummy treats and toys/games for the kids were so unexpected. This was our first PLU exchange that all happened in 6 days as another exchange cancelled last minute. Heather and Keith had no plans and decided to take us on and rescue us since we were already booked for the visit.
What a way to start on this PLU journey-highly recommend this charming home with wonderful hosts!

We are a family of 4 from Edmonds, Washington USA and love to travel and meet people from around the world. I've traveled Europe and the Caribbean a bit and trying to get my husband and boys to travel more. Our kids will be in a 100% Spanish immersion program through 2029, so we would love to go to Spain (and surrounding countries - Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal are high on our list) every summer for 4-8 weeks. We'd love to share our lakefront beach house in Bellingham or our "walk to the beach" house in Edmonds, Washington with those that want to spend time splashing around and outside in nature.
We’re most interested in sim, non-sim and globe exchanges in the following locations:
Croatia, Spain (prefer "Coastal" Spain since summers are hot!), Switzerland, Hawaii (Maui 2025), Italy, Iceland, Turks and Caicos, Japan, Vancouver and San Diego, CA. Pools are a major plus!
Open to New Zealand and Australia for 3 weeks in mid December-early January also (2025!)
We are open to hospitality stays also!
"Looking for a sim exchange for November 1-11 or November 22-December 1 2024. Would love a heated pool :-)"
Dates flexible
"Looking for Australia mid December 2026-January 15th. Multiple (3-4)locations including Melbourne for about 3 weeks."
