General overview
It is suitable for older people (no stairs and no thresholds).
It is a royal apartment, with enough space to live and enough things to do in it. There is a large shared garden in the appartment building.
The space
There is a big living room, divided in a sitting-corner, a dinner-corner with a large table, and a kitchen corner with dish-washer, induction cooking with oven and micro-wave.
We have a master-bedroom with a double bed, a little guestroom with 2 single beds for children (1:80 m long) and a sleeping couch for 2 in the living room.
There is a bathroom with a very nice bath and a shower.
Guest access
We live on the first floor, there is a stair or you can take the elevator.
There is a balcony on the front of the house, and a big beautiful shared garden on the inside of the building. With enough place to sit and enjoy the garden. There is sun in the morning and in the afternoon (when it becomes to hot in the sun) there is shade.
Notes
Because we babysit our two grandchildren (13 and 10 year old) lots of times there is a lot of childrens-stuff in our house, like a lot of toys (lego, bordgames and puzzles).
For a rainy day you can watch Netflix (from your smartphone/tablet or laptop with streaming / casting via chromecast to our tv screan (47 inch) via our Netflix account. And Dutch tv via our NL.ziet account. There is also good wifi. We don't have normal cable television anymore. And we don't have a computer for you. You have to bring your laptop, we have good wifi.
If we don't take our bikes with us, there are 2 electrical bikes you can use. If you need, with child seats. I will provide maps with hiking, biking and cano-trails. But there is also the possibilitiy to rent bikes.

Neighbourhood
Our house is situated in the center of the Netherlands, so everything is very easy to visit. It lies in the suburbs of Utrecht, a large old city, with beautiful Dutch churches and museums and canals (called "grachten") all through the city. It is a quiet neighbourhood, but only a 10 minute walk and a 10-minute train away from the center of a big city. There is a shopping center, with a supermarket, chemist, bakery, bookshop, restaurants, ten minutes walk from our house. For children there is a nice playgroud within 3 minutes walk.
You can explore the surroundings by bike (we have 2 electrical bikes with child-seats, and 4 normal bikes), it is only 20 minutes to castle Haarzuilens (it is one of the oldest castles in the Netherlands), or 10 minutes to the "Haarrijnse Plas" with a small beach.
By car, you can be in 20 minutes in the woods of the "Utrechtse Heuvelrug" for a long quiet walk. 40 minutes drive to the east, and you are in the middle of "De Veluwe", Netherlands largest nature-park. If you go north, there is a large area with "polders" a Dutch landscape with green meadows, ditches and canals, 20 minutes by car to the north, there are the lakes of the "Loosdrechtse plassen", were you can go sailing or kayaking.
But if you want to go to other places, for example:
30 minutes to Amsterdam, with its museums and monuments, the zoo with a planetarium, the Amsterdam Dungeons,
45 minutes to Rotterdam, the largest harbour in Europe, you can visit it by a Spido tour over the water, look around the skyline of Rotterdam from the Euromast, go to Blijdorp, a large zoo with a underwater tunnel,
or 4 hours drive to Paris!
Or you can go to the beach, that's only a 2 hours drive.
If you like to play golf, you can visit:
the golf course in Haarzuilens, only 6 minutes by car: http://en.leadingcourses.com/europe+netherlands+utrecht/golfclub-de-haar/
the golf course in Amelisweerd, only 20 minutes by car. http://www.amelisweerd.nl/
Getting to my home
Our house is in the center of the Netherlands, and very easy to come to, you can come by car, there is enough parking space in front of the building.
By public transport is also very easy: you can come by intercity train to Utrecht, and from there take the sprinter, to station Vleuten, then just a 7 minutes walk to our house. Or you can take a taxi from Utrecht station, or we can pick you up.
Nearest airport
Amsterdam airport is close by, (only half an hour by car, or 1 hour by public transport) but it is only necessary to fly if you come from outside Europe. In Europe it is better to get the train or the car.
Getting around
Our house is about 5 minutes walk from the shopping center, 1 minute walk from a nice playground, 7 minutes from the trainstation. And then 5 minutes by train to get to the center of Utrecht. But also Amsterdam, Rotterdam are citys close by.

We only want to travel in Europe. Because on behalf of the environment we don't want to fly anymore. We like places were we can make nice walks in the nature. Or go on a canoe trip. But also visiting churches and other old buildings. Just a bit of everything.
