General overview

Bright, spacious, well-equipped three-story townhouse located walking distance to (several) spectacular beaches, cliff hikes, and the historic center. Ideal for those wanting to be close to it all without the noise and hassle of tourists and crowds.

The space

Looking out over a gorgeous garden, our three-floor townhouse offers a different view from each balcony/terrace. Coffee and cocktails on the top floor balcony--complete with sea and wide open sky views, afternoon sun and shade in the treetops on the middle floor balcony, and generous terraces in the front (garden side) and back (bbq central) of the house on the ground floor. Abundant glass doors open wide, seamlessly integrating the outside and inside. South-facing, we have windows in front and in back. This allows for a bright interior but a cooling breeze coming in from open windows on the north side (if you choose). Speaking of breeze, while Lagos can be breezy, the way the house is configured, the balconies and front terrace are sheltered, a pleasure to enjoy. This typical whitewashed Algarvian townhome sports terracotta tile floors, a granite bar between the efficient kitchen (equipped with all sorts of fun, useful small appliances including not one but two Nespresso machines, an electric water kettle, NutriBullet, panini press, juicer, waffle maker, etc.) and the living room, and an electric fireplace (with or without heat). The middle floor offers a full bathroom (shower, no tub) while the ground floor has a small powder room (toilet and sink). With two bedrooms on the middle floor and two rooms (we use as an office and studio) on the top floor, there's plenty of space for everyone. Complete with super-fast 5G Wi-Fi throughout the house, an ample-sized TV with cable in the master bedroom, and a device-ready speaker system in the living room. There's even a European unicorn on the back terrace, a clothes dryer (and also clothes lines of course, if you prefer).

Notes

We are very interested in European city-break exchanges for anywhere from a week or two to a few months. Got a last minute urge to explore? Hit us up, we've been known to take off on a moment's notice. IMPORTANT NOTE: Our lovely Algarvian townhouse is not equipped for children. There are open stairwells and balconies that make it unsafe for youngsters. Please, adults only.

Neighbourhood

Perfectly located within a 15-minute walk from the Lagos Historic Center and a 15-minute walk to the famed beaches of Praia Dona Ana, Camilo, Porto de Mòs, Ponta da Piedade and, of course, the spectacular grottos, our Algarve neighborhood is conveniently situated. Walk to grocery stores and markets, cafes and restaurants, or local bus stops and the train station to take you further afield. Hike the gorgeous cliffs just a short stroll from our front door or take a longer cliff walk to Praia da Luz. Bus back if you wish. It's easy! Charming towns--big and small--await the Algrave explorer. From Sagres and Rota Vicentina to the west to the Seven Hanging Valleys hike in Lagoa and all the way to Tavira in the east, there's so much to see and do. There's plentiful free on-street parking next to our townhouse row and friendly but private neighbors in this peaceful slice of paradise. Safe, scenic, and soothing...it's what we call home.

Getting to my home

Lagos is very drivable, has a train station connecting the whole of the country, and a bus station with local and long-distance service.

Nearest airport

The closest airport is Faro, a 90-ish-minute drive or easy train ride. If you fly into Lisboa the train will whoosh you down here in approximately 4 hours (with one super simple connection in Tunes).

Getting around

Walk, bus, or drive to big-ish grocery stores. A small convenience store is just down the block. Cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, beach bars abound.
