Bedroom 2: Main floor queen bed, adjacent bath with full bathtub
Bedroom 3: Upstairs oversized room w/ full bed, twin daybed +trundle, ensuite bathroom. **Please note that the trundle mattress is a thinner 6" Lucid memory foam mattress in order to accommodate the height of the trundle. It is a mattress suited for children, not recommended for adults.
ALL BATHROOMS are newly remodeled! Upstairs baths are equipped with rainfall shower heads, hand showers, oversized mirrors, sliding barn doors, and herringbone slate floor/shower tile. Downstairs bath has a full-sized bathtub.

KIDS AMENITIES include: kid-friendly plastic plates/cups, two child-sized chairs, toys, books, and puzzles mainly aimed at the 2-7yo crowd. Some examples of our constantly rotating stock: vintage wood cabin play kitchen, Melissa & Doug wood play foods, Melissa & Doug wood puzzles, larger floor puzzles, wooden blocks, Matchbox cars, bristle blocks, Dr. Seuss books, Magic Treehouse books. Plus four acres of lively forest and stream to explore (with supervision, of course)! Need more kid/baby stuff? No problem! We have relationships with local equipment rental moms at very reasonable prices - like Uber for baby gear!
TECHNOLOGY: We hope that you can unplug and enjoy the outdoors in earnest while visiting, but also provide a smart-TV with Roku system that allows you to log into your own Netflix and other streaming accounts. On the tech front, please note that rural internet is a thing! We are paying a premium for the best internet access possible, a commercial hotspot-type system based off Verizon towers with special exterior-mounted long reception ears. Even with all the measures taken, internet access can be spotty, with download speeds between 10-20mbps, and upload speeds between 1-3mbps.
-This cabin is our family's personal vacation home. Due to our children's severe allergies, pets are not allowed. Thank you for respecting their health and safety, and keeping our little ones out of the hospital!
Guest access
The cabin has two stories with one bedroom on the main floor. Guests have full access to the cabin (minus small locked owner's closet), wraparound deck, hot tub, and our private 4 acres of forest and streams.
The heart of Downtown Asheville is just 18 minutes away, down the mountain!
Notes
-This cabin is our family's personal vacation home in addition to serving as an Airbnb vacation rental. Due to our children's severe allergies, pets are not allowed. Thank you for respecting their health and safety, and keeping our little ones out of the hospital!
-Due to insurance liability, we are unable to exchange with a group under 25 years old. There must be someone at least 25 years old present in order to rent our home.
-Verizon has the best reception at the cabin. T-Mobile gets very little. AT&T is somewhere in the middle. Please plan accordingly.
-Please note that the fireplace is inoperable at this time, but we have just installed a gorgeous new forest firepit outside! Please feel free to burn any sticks found on the forest floor (there are lots!), or firewood can be purchased down the mountain at Ingles Market.
-Bears live on the land and are frequent visitors. They are awfully cute, but please don't approach. They will leave you alone if you leave them alone, and never get between a mama bear and her cubs! They are clever and know how to open house and car doors, even the hot tub cover. Lock all doors/covers, and don't leave any food in your car, or you may encounter a furry surprise!
-Nature abounds in the forest! Wooded areas are home to critters such as but not limited to bears, deer, squirrels, rodents, spiders, ants, and insects. We are contracted with a pest control company with regularly scheduled treatments... but alas, Mother Nature reigns, and bugs and critters thrive out here. Please understand the possibility of seeing critters in and around the home, and that their presence does not entitle the guest to a refund.
-For guests arriving in winter, early spring or late fall, please be mindful of the weather. The gravel drive is steep, and the road leading to the cabin is narrow and curvy in spots and may become icy. A 4-wheel drive or AWD vehicle is necessary in winter weather.
-No smoking in the house. If you need to smoke, please do so outside and properly dispose of waste. Take care to ensure embers are not left to smolder in forest leaf pilings or other flammable surfaces.
-Free WiFi is included. Please note that means downloading content like email and light streaming is usually okay, but heavy multiple users or upload-heavy (outgoing) content like Zoom is more difficult. So that means no Zoom meetings while on vacay, folks! Do not unplug or alter the router or modem or any electronic devices in any way. Before checking out please remember to log out of streaming services if you used them with your account (Netflix, Disney, etc.).
-Maximum capacity is limited to 8 folks, including children. The cabin is on a septic system (like much of the local area), so exceeding capacity would mean an overloaded septic system, which means open sewage issues which... ew. Nobody wants that.
-Guests routinely comment on the "sparkling" cleanliness achieved by our very hardworking cleaning team. Everyone is human, though, so please let us know if anything is amiss immediately upon check-in.
-Security devices on premises: Ring Doorbell cam at front door, Ring Floodlight cam facing driveway and parking area, NoiseAware audio noise monitors indoors and outdoors

Getting to my home
Located in Asheville's quiet neighborhood of Riceville Forest, just off Tunnel Road. Centrally located with the Blue Ridge Parkway in the backyard (literally!) and Downtown Asheville just a few minutes away.
Please note that the mountain roads in this area are winding and steep, and you will encounter wildlife. There is a short gravel driveway that is steep and somewhat rough (improvements coming!), so 4-wheel drive vehicles are required during periods of inclement weather. Due to our location, snowplows can take several days to reach the neighborhood. Guests are responsible for tracking expected weather during their stay and planning accordingly.
Nearest airport
Asheville Regional Airport is about 25 minutes away. The larger Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about 2 hours away.

We are a family of 4, seasoned travelers and new to home sharing! Jon and May traveled all over the world before having children, and are starting to explore international travel with our two boys, 6 and 10. They love adventures! We are occasionally joined by May's delightful parents.
