General Overview

We have lived in this home for about four years now. It is two blocks from the beautiful Atlantic ocean. We are just enough back that we can avoid all of the vacationers however, we can ride our bikes to the beach and the miles boardwalk and ocean in 5 minutes as well as to all the restaurants and parks.

The Space

4 bedrooms - 6 bathrooms.  Each bedroom has its own full bathroom!  Outside shower too and bathroom for the pool area.  Back porch overlooking big backyard and pool.  Master bedroom is on first floor with it's own big king size bed, bathroom and shower.  Also in the master bedroom is access to the back porch and pool area.  Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms...Each room has a double bed and it's own full bathroom with shower!  One of the bedrooms upstairs has been used as a home office, with desk and TV etc.  Downstairs is a large living space with a gas fireplace and big TV, sunroom, dining room-seats 8 and kitchen-fully stocked...

We have 2 floors...Downstairs is main living area, master bedroom, kitchen-fully stocked and dining room and sun room.  Upstairs are 3 additional bedrooms.  Each with their own full bathrooms.  Out back is our pool and yard and back porch...Firepit and fun games to play!  You can come through the back keyless entryway...

Virginia Beach is home to miles and miles of ocean, parks and great restaurants and nightlife.  We have 4 bikes you can use to get around to the beach, 40 blocks of boardwalk or to ride to the bay!  We are so close to lots of boating, jet skis, fishing and more.  Williamsburg, VA is about 45 minutes away and Washington DC is about 3 hours away...

Getting to my home

You can fly into Norfolk, VA airport (ORF) and we are about 15 minutes away.  You can also fly into Richmond, VA and Washington DC.

Liz and Bruce's home is fantastic! It was a perfect retreat for us. It's a big family home, but still felt cozy for the two of us. Comfy bed, awesome shower, well-equipped kitchen (with a Vitamix!), beautiful sun room, comfortable living room / TV room, and desk space to work remotely. We walked to the beach daily, had brunch at Pocohontas (a Virginia Beach institution), and enjoyed happy hour near the beach. Time flew by. We loved our stay and hope to be back! Definitely recommend.

We spent a month in Liz's homes, the first half in Virginia Beach and the second half in Wintergreen (in the mountains outside Charlottesville). The experience has been amazing! Her home in Virginia Beach is lovely, with lots of space, a big backyard, and a sparkling pool. My kids spent so much time in the pool, and we loved grilling dinner almost every night. The beach is a 5-minute walk away, and I spent many a morning watching the sun rise over the ocean (thanks, jetlag!). We enjoyed the local amusement parks and historic sites as well - this part of Virginia, and this home, truly offer everything! The same can be said for her house in Wintergreen - spacious and well-appointed with a large porch, including a grill and comfy furniture from which you can hear the creek running through the backyard. There are a ton of hikes and scenic views in the area, as well as historic sites like Jefferson's Monticello. Liz provided some great suggestions of things to do, eat and see in the area. Our exchange with her family was definitely a success ,and exchanges with her family are highly recommended.

We had a lovely time at Liz and Bruce's beautiful home for the weekend. Liz was great to communicate with, before and during the swap and so generous. Their home is in a great location, so close to the beach and they even let us use their golf cart which was decked out for Christmas and fun to take for a spin. Their home is spacious, comfortable, cosy and beautiful. So many lovely decor touches, with plenty of space for everyone. They left us a bottle of fizz and a nice note on arrival. Their home is a great base for exploring the Hampton Roads area, where there is so much to do. We only wished we could have stayed longer than 2 nights! Highly recommend!

My family had a wonderful time at Liz's house! It was clean and beautiful, each bedroom was comfortable, and the yard was lovely and private. They have a fun sense of style and we enjoyed seeing all their art and collectibles. Just hanging out in the house was fun because it was such a nice space to spend time in. It was an easy two blocks to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. We spent every morning and afternoon enjoying the beach, and it was simple to come back to the house for lunch and a rest in between. We borrowed their bikes and had fun riding the bike path along the beach together as a family.

We are a family of four living 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach, VA USA. We have two adult children, 21 and 24 years old. We would love to travel within the United States. We’ve never been to Maine and Vermont or Washington state, but love all areas of the US but will really also enjoy Europe, Australia, Africa. We just want to explore the whole world and can’t wait to get started. We have traveled on our own many times, but are interested in seeing how the people like us exchange works.
Our home in Virginia Beach, Virginia is amazing.  So close to the beach and nightlife and over 40 blocks of boardwalk to run, bike, swim and play lots of sports!  We have a nice big backyard with a great pool, deck and back porch!   Each bedroom (4) has it's own bathroom as well as the outdoor area has a bathroom and outdoor shower!  We have 4 bikes you can use too!  We are 3 hours from Washington DC and 2 hours from Richmond, VA.  Nearest airport is 15 minutes-Norfolk, VA.  Largest shipyard in the world is here...Lots of history to explore - Williamsburg, VA is within 45 minutes too!   Come live the beach life!!
