I am a block away from the W&OD trail, a rails to trails trail, which connects me to over 300 miles ...

Also, a Washington DC metro stop is a 5-minute walk, taking you into Washington DC, international restaurants, free Smithsonian museums, parks, festivals, live Shakespeare Theaters, etc. There are bus routes too, great pubic transportation. And so much to do!
