General Overview
We built this house in 2010 after deciding to escape the city. As I love to cook and entertain, it has everything you need if that is your interest as well. We think we have the best views in the district. Our friends jokingly describe our home as the "resort". We are 15 minutes from Orange, which is an emerging wine growing area for cool climate wines. Orange also has some good high end restaurants.
The Space
We have 3 bedrooms - a master with onsuite and two guest bedrooms that share a bathroom. There is also an additional bathroom off the garage. The living area is large (the dining table seats 12) and open plan, with panoramic views of the country side. The house is very modern, with every appliance you can imagine. We have a pool and a large terrace for entertaining or just watching the sun go down.
Guest Access
All on one level - you can do that when you have 132 acres!
Notes
All additional guests require our approval before an exchange is finalised. This is our home and we want to know who will be staying.
This is our main home, where we live full time. There are a few things you need to know before exchanging with us. We are out of town and there is about 1.5km of unsealed road (less than there used to be!) and despite our best efforts at pestering the Council, sometimes the road can be a bit rough. Nothing that you need to be too concerned about (you certainly don’t need a 4WD), but unless you are careful, you could do a tyre when it is like that. Being out of town we aren’t connected to town water or sewer, which means you need to be mindful not to take really long showers and be careful not to put certain things down the drain, otherwise things will back up (yuck).
Because we live here permanently (it isn’t an Airbnb part time) there is no manager onsite or on call. We are very resourceful people and prefer to exchange with people who think the same way. Unless there is an emergency or something breaks down that is essential, we would prefer if you dealt with minor issues yourself, particularly when we are in another time zone. We will give you as much information as possible to make sure things run smoothly, but given we live in the country things like electrical storms happen and do impact on equipment from time to time. Of course we would like to know, but won’t be on call to problem solve for you for minor issues. We both work really hard and look forward to the opportunity to digitally detox when we are away, so aren’t on our phones 24/7. We will provide you with emergency contacts.
Unless you have specifically agreed, our dogs won’t be here, but our chickens and ducks will. You will need to collect the eggs regularly and make sure they have feed and water. Their feeders and water supply is usually enough for 4-5 days, but would prefer if you check on them regularly. If you are happy to replace their bedding, that is a bonus! If you are unwilling to interact with poultry, it is probably not the exchange for you! We love our chooks and want them to be happy and healthy.

Neighbourhood
We live "out of town" - about 15 minutes out of Orange on a quite country road. You will only see neighbours in the distance from the house. Orange has a growing reputation for cool climate wines and restaurants. There are plenty of cellar doors to visit, nice golf courses to play on and small towns in the area to visit. Orange is a relatively sophisticated country town, with nice shopping, cafes, art galleries and bars. There are also some good opportunities for cycling on country roads.
Getting to my home
You can fly to Orange from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. You will need a car, unless we have agreed to lend you one of ours (which is a possibility). You can also get a train or bus from Sydney and I believe Canberra.
Nearest airport
Orange airport is 30 minutes away.
Getting Around
You will need a car to get to the shops. There is no public transport out here!

Natalie
Simon and Natalie have been home exchanging since 2000. We love to travel this way and to open up our home to like minded people based on trust and respect. We like to travel twice or more a year and are open to a range of destinations. Because we have multiple homes we can be relatively flexible on dates. We are passionate about food and wine (Simon owns and runs a wine business) and share a love of the great outdoors (we particularly like to cycle and ski). It is just the two of us - but occasionally we will travel with another couple. We are particularly interested in international destinations, but wouldn't rule out home exchanges closer to home across Australia and New Zealand. Sorry, but we are not interested in Sydney. I travel there often for business and don’t need to go there for holidays! We are however open to globes!
Natalie is the CEO of a large community services organisation and Simon owns a wine retailing business.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
