Neighbourhood
Area of detached family homes situated amongst the trees. Neighbours on one side, forest across the road on the other side. Access to numerous forested walking trails of varied terrain and levels of difficulty.
Lake with picnic area.
Snug Cove Village is down the hill where there are 2 grocery store, coffee shops, bakery, beer and wine shop, pharmacy, post office, book store, bank, library, pub, distillery, cannabis shop, 3 restaurants, 2 art galleries, clothing shops, including a new one selling vintage clothes.
Nearest airport
Vancouver International Airport which is approximately one hour drive away from Horseshoe Bay which is the terminal for ferries to Snug Cove on Bowen Island. Ferries run approximately hourly from 5..20 am until 10pm.
Evening water taxis available by charter.
Getting around
Currently there are no taxis or UBER on Bowen Island.
There are two community bus routes serving the west side and the north of the island.
Our home is a 5 minute walk down the hill to the main village area. Currently there is no bus service on our road but there is a LIFT (Linking Islanders through Friendly Transportation) stop from which locals are happy to give a ride back up the hill. There are 2 x. grocery stores, wine and beer store, bakery, pharmacy, toy and book store, 3 clothing stores, 2 x art galleries, library, marine store and gift shop, Happy Isle Cannabis Store.
Scooters, electric bikes and kayak rentals available in the summer months.
