Shirley and Richard’s apartment in Main Beach, Queensland exceeded our expectations in every way. From the very beginning, communication with Shirley was seamless and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have exchanged with her. Shirley and Richard’s apartment is immaculate, and every detail is so well thought out. We had all that we needed and more for a truly comfortable stay and it was the perfect base for exploring the Gold Coast. We were so happy to learn that our stay coincided with the Gold Coast Seafire fireworks, and we had a fantastic view from the beach access right at the end of the street which was very cool. One of the things we loved most about the location was the abundance of beautiful outdoor spaces. There are lovely walking paths nearby, with easy access to The Spit and the Broadwater Parklands. We also discovered the Peninsula Playground, a $5 million playground just a five-minute drive away, which has to be one of the coolest playgrounds we’ve ever visited! During our stay, we also visited the nearby HOTA precinct which is so fab. The kids enjoyed the Little ArtLab program, where they created their own "passport to China" while exploring the fascinating White Rabbit Chinese Contemporary Art exhibition that’s on at the moment. The resident artists were engaging and made the experience so much fun everyone. The Sunday farmers market at HOTA was another highlight, with delicious breakfast options, live music, and a great community atmosphere. Their home is also in a great position to explore the Gold Coast hinterland which is only about 30-40 minutes by car. We visited the Historic Rivermill at Mount Nathan, which happened to be hosting its Monthly Cowboys & Country Day which was great fun and the kids got the full Australian experience riding the mechanical bull, learning to crack whips, wading the creek full of turtles and line dancing haha. This was truly the perfect weekend escape. If you ever have the opportunity to exchange with Shirley and Richard you must say yes!

We had an amazing time in Shirley and Richard’s apartment on the Gold Coast. It is sooooo comfortable and absolutely immaculate. The weather was terrible but it made absolutely no difference. We went to movies, shopped, ate out, played domino’s, met up with mates and loved every moment of our week. Thank you Shirley for a beautiful stay. We look forward to having you stay in Potts Point.

I can’t speak more highly of Shirley, or her apartment. As a newcomer to PLU, Shirley kindly walked me through all the steps. When we arrived, we were greeted with a stunning apartment and a welcome gift which the kids were absolutely delighted with! The apartment had everything we wanted and more. The location is perfect. If this is what we have to expect from PLU, then we are very excited!

We had such a lovely time staying at Shirley and Richard’s comfortable apartment. It was so centrally located at Main Beach that we never needed to use our car and travelled everywhere on foot on by bus or light rail. The nearby restaurants and cafes were fantastic. And the beach, which is only steps away, was beautiful and we had it almost to ourselves! The apartment itself is spacious and full of light, the bed and furnishings are very comfortable, the kitchen and laundry are well equipped, and there are two private patios for enjoying a cuppa while enjoying the sea breeze. The apartment overlooks the pool which is a great spot to cool off, surrounded by tropical gardens. Shirley and Richard are incredibly lovely and thoughtful and we felt so lucky to be able to meet and have a drink with them, as they were petsitting nearby. We now consider them friends as well as exchange partners - they are truly sweet and wonderful people. We have already organised another exchange with them for next year and can’t wait!

We had a fabulous time at Shirley's apartment. It is a beautiful comfortable apartment in a small complex. It is situated just off the main avenue with numerous shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a short walk to the beach. Shirley left us starting food supplies, so we didn't have to go out straight to the shops for food etc. This generous gesture was very much appreciated. Shirley also gave us many suggestions on where to go and restaurants /cafes to try. Communication was so easy and prompt. I would love to stay again. Shirleys place is just over an hour from mine, and this was our first local exchange and hopefully it won't be the last.

Shirley & Colin have a lovely apartment in a perfect location. They were both so helpful with information, communication and support- even lent me their car very generous and much appreciated. My daughter joined me for a week then my grandson visited for a few days - we all enjoyed comfortable home and beautiful beach location. So many things in walking distance and public transport was excellent. Would love to visit again in the future.
