ALOOOOOHA!
We have a large and very spacious condo located in the resort community of Mauna Lani, on the Big Island of Hawaii (located in Kamuela/Kohala coast and not Waimea). We are offering two en-suite bedrooms (king upstairs and accessible queen downstairs) which is perfect for two couples traveling together or a romantic getaway. It also has an extra half bath and plenty of room for a few blow up beds if you have small humans. Note our home is not kid friendly or set up for small children. Older children would be ok. Mahalo for understanding.
The downstairs has an open living concept with a covered lanai and outside living/dining area. High speed internet for those that may have to work and a full size washer/dryer. We also have beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and shade tents.
*This is our home and not a vacation rental. We ask that you treat it as such please.
**As we travel alot and are not home to clean in between exchanges, a cleaning fee applies to all exchanges. Details can be discussed prior to the start of an exchange. Price varies based on how many people and it can be anywhere from $150-$250.
*** Our home is perfect for two couples traveling together or a family of 3-5. There are only two beds, a new XL twin Tri-fold mattress and two blow up beds, so not ideal for more than four adults. Please keep that in mind when requesting an exchange. Mahalo 🌺
We have two small "doodles" - they are both hypoallergenic, so do not smell and do not shed. They will not be at the house when you are there unless you request to fur-sit. 😊
We have a newer Hyundai Kona to mutually swap or can rent it privately.
The Space
Upstairs you will find a small landing that leads to the king bedroom with its own bathroom. It also has a work desk, and a great size most;y empty closet with built in drawers.
The downstairs bedroom boasts a super comfortable queen bed (so we have been told), tv, empty chest of drawers, and good sized empty closet. The bedroom is also an en-suite that has an accessible shower.
The main living area is open concept; the living room has two leather couches (new) that are both recliners, and a 65" smart tv with Sonos surround sound.
The round dining room table seats 8 and the kitchen island has four high-top bar seats. The kitchen also has a dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker (both k-cup and ground), French press, microwave, Subzero refrigerator, reverse osmosis filtered drinking water (no need to buy bottle water) and an induction cooktop. It's very spacious, open, and equipped with everything you need. *We leave basic condiments, spices and herbs for you to use.
There is a half bath on the main level and a full size washer and dryer. No clothesline, but we do have drying racks.
The back lanai is spacious, comfortable and quiet - perfect for breakfast, reading and cocktail hour! It features a couch, two reclining chairs and a dining table for 6. There is a built in BBQ, Mini beer fridge and sink. We also have lanai fans to keep the air moving.
We have beach chairs, beach towels, a shade tent, basic boogie boards and soft coolers available for guest use. We do NOT have snorkels available but you can rent them at the nearby shops through Snorkel Bobs or bring your own.
The complex has a decent size pool (usually pretty empty most days) and spa along with a fantastic workout room located very close to the house yet far enough away to not hear any of the noise.
Guest Access
The front door access is flat and would be ok for a wheelchair. We have a new door lock/combination (no key needed), and will provide main gate access code and the private Beach Club access card.
The bottom bedroom has a roll in shower as well and slate floors for ease of access. The only stairs are those leading up to the king bedroom.
Quiet hours in our HOA are from 10pm - 8am. Please, no loud music, gatherings or parties.
Notes
The Big Island is an adventure island. We are located in a fabulous area of the island and there is so much to see and do. Our home is on the dry, leeward side of the island yet a short, 2-hour drive from Hilo which is the wetter, windward side. We are just a ten minute drive from Hapuna Beach State Park which is consistently voted one of the top beaches in the US by Dr. Beach. Some popular day trips and tours include: Night snorkeling with Manta Rays, Volcano National Park, stargazing at Mauna Kea summit, and Green Sand Beach which is just 1 of 4 worldwide!

Neighbourhood
Mauna Lani is a resort community located on the Kohala (West) coast of the Big Island. The community is anchored by two major hotels and is home to white and black sand beaches, restaurants, supermarket, tennis, world class golf, pickleball, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling and so much more all within the resort at Mauna Lani. Our home is located within the Villages of Mauna Lani.
Getting to my home
We are called the Big Island for a reason - all of the Hawaiian islands fit into the Big Island! There is so much to see and do so a car is definitely needed.
We are happy to mutually swap a vehicle with reciprocal exchanges or if that doesn’t work, we can offer a private rental. We have a newer Hyundai Kona.
Nearest airport
We are located approximately 25 minutes north of the Kailua-Kona airport (KOA). For international travelers, you would fly into Honolulu (HNL), clear customs, then continue with a short 30 minute flight over to Kona.
Getting Around
The shops at Mauna Lani are within walking distance from the condo. There you will find a supermarket, gift shops, Snorkel Bobs (to rent snorkels and fins), the recently opened Island Hopper Taproom with 75 beers on tap, and the Tommy Bahama restaurant - great happy hour specials!
Well if you are lucky enough to stay in Kirsten and Laura’s fabulous Mauna Lani condo, you will be amazed, as we were, at not only how fabulous their place is but how kind and helpful your hosts will be. From the very first contact to final checkout, they have thought of everything - and I do mean everything - you could possibly need. So we lived an absolute dream during our time in tropical paradise!
Their home is even more exquisite than the pictures portray; we enjoyed all the relaxing spaces, from the huge outdoor living space - with recliners! - that backs onto a gorgeous tropical landscape, to the private inner garden courtyard with comfy beanbags perfect for reading, to the incredibly comfortable bed, to the thoroughly stocked kitchen, to the luxurious leather sofa recliners, and so much more. We loved that their condo is just a few steps from the private clubhouse, and spent several evenings alone enjoying the hot tub under the moonlight.
Even better: Access to the private Mauna Lani Beach Club, where we snorkeled, swam, lounged, and relaxed. We also tried not to miss sunset at another nearby beach, and wow there’s even a black sand beach very close by that we loved as well. And there’s a grocery store right next to the complex, so we found we didn’t need to go far beyond the Mauna Lani area, (except to Hilo, where we saw the lava flowing, thanks to Kirsten’s prodding to ‘go up there now! So cool!).
And then there was the ‘secret pool’ where fish nibbled on our feet, the turtles we observed on beaches, the Lava Lava Club for a romantic sunset dinner, and so much more. Just wow.
Our most endearing memories will be of our new travel friends, Kirsten and Laura, though, and we’re so glad we’ve added these two amazing travel friends to our lives. Thank you, Kirsten and Laura, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything, especially for helping us get started with PLU - we would never have made so much progress this fast without you, and we will be forever grateful. Mahalo!
If you ever get the amazing chance for a hospitality exchange with Kirsten and Laura, you are the luckiest PLU exchangers ever. I cannot begin to express how kind, thoughtful, and helpful our friends Kirsten and Laura have been to us, as we have begun our Big Island adventure. A ‘lei’ welcome at the Kona Airport, a detailed, expansive tour of, well, everything, including the secret pond where little fishes nibbled my feet! We never would have found the secret pond, and so much more, without their help. Their condo lodging is absolutely breathtaking - and there’s the pool, the beach, the grounds - absolutely stunning - just gorgeous! We truly are in paradise. Oh and did I mention the fabulous dinner, breakfast, and so much more?:-))
I could go on and on, but I’m sure you get the idea. We cannot thank Kirsten and Laura enough, and we are enormously grateful that our new travel friends have entered our lives! Mahalo, and safe travels, friends.
We had an incredible experience staying at Kirsten and Laura’s home on the Big Island of Hawaii. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with thoughtful touches like fresh banana bread and a generous welcome gift that made us feel instantly at home.
The house itself was beautifully organized, spacious, and easy to navigate, with everything we needed right at our fingertips. It was a truly deluxe and comfortable accommodation in a prime location—close to fantastic beaches, shopping, and attractions, yet still peaceful and private.
During our stay, we explored so much of what the island has to offer. We loved visiting the stunning beaches nearby, including Makalawena, Waialea, and Hapuna. One of our absolute favorite adventures was hiking over the lava flow to Kiholo Bay, where we had the magical experience of swimming with sea turtles in a secluded bay. We also made it to the Waimea Farmers Market for some delicious local treats and flair.
A major highlight was celebrating our son’s birthday with a Fairwinds charter snorkel trip in Kealakekua Bay—truly unforgettable! We also did a scenic day trip to Waipio Valley Lookout (a must-see), Akaka Falls, explored Hilo and the Kaūmana Caves, and even snuck in some cow cuddling along the way!
Another major perk was access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club—just a short drive away and such a beautiful spot with great amenities.
Kirsten and Laura were exceptional hosts—kind, responsive, and wonderful communicators who went above and beyond to make our stay smooth and memorable. If you have the opportunity to arrange an exchange with them, do it! You’ll be so glad you did.
Mahalo for the unforgettable experience!
Aloha, talk about living in paradise… This was probably one of our best vacations, everrrr… EVER!
The ladies have a beautiful, immaculate home roughly 30min from Kona airport. It has all the modern amenities that anyone could want. Kirsten was very helpful and informative, a class act of hospitality. She’s sheer excellence and I hope to learn from her. They provided us with great tips on what to see and do around town with their extensive home guide— this allowed us to really enjoy our stay without a ton of preplanning but did have to book a few things in advance (luau and nighttime manta ray snorkel). We were able to relax, change our pace, reset and have plenty of thrilling adventures! What more could anyone want?
From the Foodland Poké bowl that you can walk to retrieve, to the incredible sunsets, to the Waimea farmers market crepes, to the fish pedicure, to snorkeling with sea turtles (we saw 4 in two trips), to the waterfalls, to the botanical gardens, to the free zoo, to the lava tubes (Kaumana cave was long and impressive), to the unbelievable Mouna Kea stargazing (you can see Milky Way!!), to the shaved ice, to the macadamia nut and coffee farm tours, to the night manta ray snorkel, to the boat regatta in Hilo, to the Pu’uhonua Historical National Park where you learn in depth Hawaiian culture, to the Volcanoes National Park where we were honored to witness episode 29 eruption, I could write a literal book! I mean, who gets to watch a live volcano in their lifetime? Here, you can! What a dream! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime type trip here! In fact, I have every intention of going to make a photo book this week so our memories don’t fade over time. This location, these ladies, this vacation was just perfection. All the way around, perfection. We are so grateful for our swap, if you get the chance to connect, this will be one of your best vacations too! Hands down, no contest, this is the place to be!!! Mahalo big time mahalo!!
To express it with one word only, WOW!!! Big Island was a very positive surprise to us. Our plan was to mostly chill, but we ended up doing a lot of more things than planned, because we got excited by all opportunities, inspired by Kirsten´s extensive house guide.
Kirsten and Laura´s home is simply amazing and very beautifully decorated (I loved the tiles :-). It is a semi-detached house, with several different social areas, perfect for our family with two teenagers (who sometimes need their space). The location within the gated community is the best, with only a few steps to the shared gym and pool, which we enjoyed every day. It is also walking distance to Foodland Farms in the shopping center next door, where we found great hot plates and complementary food etc.
We had a fabulous time, going on excursions and swimming/snorkeling on different beaches every day. We only wished we had had more time to chill more at home, because we liked the home so much. We appreciated that it was spotless clean on arrival and that things were very well organised and easy to find.
Communication with Kirsten was the best, clear, friendly and fun. Thanks for having us and we are looking forward to welcome you to our happy place in Scalea, Italy!
We had an incredible time staying at this beautiful Mauna Lani condominium. The open-plan layout, thoughtful personal touches, and fully equipped home made it feel like a true retreat—everything we needed was right at our fingertips.
The location was perfect, with access to the pool, spa, sauna, and an amazing beach club where we snorkeled with fish and turtles. We even witnessed an unforgettable volcanic eruption at Kīlauea—an experience we’ll never forget.
Kristen and Laura were friendly, responsive, and a pleasure to communicate with. We truly felt at home and are grateful for what felt like a little slice of paradise.
We also feel that we have made some wonderful new friends who will be welcome whenever they come back to Australia:-)
Mahalo nui loa.
Absolute amazing exchange at Kirsten and Laura's home. Such a welcoming environment not to mention the beauty of the area. Their thoughtfulness and communication was above and beyond and I loved all the details in their remarkable home. Best week ever!! Thank you thank you Maholo a million times!
Our family just finished a non-sim exchange at Kirsten and Laura’s beautiful home. We were all blown away by the location, island, and the home itself! Easily accessible to so many fun things to do and see, we all wished we had more time to explore! My girls especially loved the pool, and my mother in law loved the gym which were both walking distance away from the home. We snorkeled, hiked, whale watched, and saw volcanoes. Swapping cars made this exchange even better. Such a great trip and such great exchange partners. This was a wonderful exchange! Mahalo ❤️
Kirsten and Laura have a beautiful home on a magical island - we loved our stay. Communication was great and we appreciated the written instructions throughout the home so we didn't always have to check their house manual for how things worked. (Hope to be organized enough to take some tips from them!)
We felt very welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay. The location in the complex is a very short walk to the pool and gym and to the grocery store.
Tons of great outdoor fun a short drive away from beaches to turtle watching to hikes. The Big Island was large and we felt like we only explored some of it's magical charm from this perfect home base.
The kitchen is so well stocked and the outdoor lanai was perfect for breakfasts and some BBQ's. My kids enjoyed chilling and playing cards in their other outdoor space, a cool "hidden" patio in the middle of the townhouse - and I enjoyed some outdoor yoga.
Kirsten and Laura have hosting down to a science and we loved our stay in their home.
We had an awesome 10 night stay at Kirsten and Laura's beautiful home at Mauna Lani on the Big Island.
Situated In a large, beautifully manicured gated community with all the amenities., we were so lucky to have a pool complex just meters away from our front door and a short drive to the private Beach Club that is only available to residents and their guests. A gorgeous, white sand beach with good snorkeling and walks along the coastline.
The house was immaculately clean and had all the amenities we could possibly need.
Kirsten's communication was excellent and provided us with loads of tips and info to make our holiday planning easy and fun.
We loved the diversity of the Big Is with it's volcanic lava flows and beautiful sheltered beaches on the west coast to the Volcanoes in the centre, to the lush green forests, waterfalls and spectacular cliffs along the east coast.
It has such a relaxed feel to it and to top it off the traffic is light and easy to get around.
This was a wonderful holiday that we will always remember and we are very grateful to Kirsten and Laura for sharing their special place with us. 😊
We loved every minute of our stay at Kirsten and Laura’s beautiful home. The setup and layout of their home is well thought out and the decor is lovely.
The location is also great (within a gated community) with supermarket, shops and restaurants nearby. We really enjoyed relaxing by the pool and the access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club for fantastic swimming and snorkeling. If you are lucky enough to secure an exchange with Kirsten and Laura you are in for a real treat!
We have just returned from a magical stay at Kirsten and Laura's wonderful home.
Their home is absolutely beautiful, with anything you need plus a gym and terrific pool area. The Beach Club is only a few minutes away with lounges, lots of shade and great snorkelling. Snorkelling gear is cheap to hire right next door at Snorkel Bob's.
After picking up their car at the local airport - (simple process organised by Kirsten) - we were welcomed at their gorgeous home by a generous welcome gift. Anything you needed to know was in their home manual - which is completely next level!
We attended local events, travelled to the volcanoes, shared meals with friends on the island, watched beautiful sunsets, shopped at local markets and read about Hawaii's fascinating cultural history. Just the best week.
Shopping is a breeze with Foodland Supermarket right next door and for a big shop there is huge supermarket at the neighbouring village up the hill. Don't worry if you forget anything because we got lost looking for this supermarket and found an enormous, well stocked Goodwill Store. Pity our suitcases were already full.
If you are looking for a stay in paradise then look no further than Kirsten and Laura's magnificent home. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
Judy and Murray #9535
We had an amazing stay at Laura and Kirsten's home. Wow! I don't even know where to begin.
They were very easy to communicate with from the beginning and quick to respond to any questions that came up. Their home is beautifully decorated, spacious, and very comfortable. We loved spending time on the lanai both for morning coffee and evening cocktails:) We explored a different beach each day, returning to the pool each afternoon. The resort has great restaurants and amenities, including its own beach club.
Kirsten has put together an amazing guidebook. Her recommendations are spot on and led us to our favorite restaurants, beaches, and activities.
Our trip was a much-needed break; we were able to relax and enjoy our time thanks to Kirsten and Laura's hospitality. The best part of our exchange, however, was having the chance to meet up several times with Kirsten, Laura, and the doodles later in the summer as they made their way up the East Coast. Laura and Kirsten were perfect exchange partners - who we now consider friends.
If you have the chance to exchange with Kirsten & Laura, jump on it ! Their spotless & beautifully appointed upscale, luxury home in the gated community of the Mauna Lani Villages is a Hawaiian vacation dream. I could have spent an entire week just enjoying their home and lanai. It’s that lovely !! We feel so lucky to have been able to make this exchange. Kirsten’s communication and organization is top notch and you will feel very taken care of.
We loved waking up to the birds chirping & enjoying our morning coffee on the huge, comfy , covered lanai. Their home is a few doors down from the pool & a very short stroll from the shops. Having access to the private beach club was a treat and the water was so beautifully calm and clear. It’s a great spot to snorkel too!!
The Big Island is gorgeous and very unique with a very diverse ecosystem. We enjoyed exploring other areas of the island as much as we enjoyed our quiet mornings just lazing at the beach. A must visit is the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens & Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park.
Mahalo Kirsten & Laura for an absolutely magical exchange. We look forward to welcoming you to Whistler !!
We had the best exchange ever with Kirsten & Laura!
After they visited us in September 2023, we went to their home in Hawaii for two weeks in February 2024.
Communication was very easy and we quickly felt like we had new friends 😊
Their home is beautiful, quiet and so well located, very close to beaches (Mauna Lani, Hapuna,...) and many activities (manta ray snorkeling, boogie board, luxurious valley tours,...).
They had prepared very detailed instructions in the house, so everything was so easy to use. They also gave us great advice before and during our trip.
Big Island is big enough to discover many things in 2 weeks (though we could have stayed a lot more time and still explore many more places!), and small enough to be able to visit it all from their home. It is a truly stunning island, with such diversity... We walked in all-green tropical forests with waterfalls, hiked into a volcano, boogie boarded on a beautiful white beach with turtles swimming around, swam with manta rays at night... Truly an amazing island we would love to go to again, especially if we had the luck to exchange again with our amazing hosts Kirsten & Laura 😊
We are so happy to have Kirsten and Laura in our lives because of our PLU connection!
Their home on the Big Island is a warm and luxurious escape in one of the most sought after areas of Hawaii
Our communication was flawless and we felt instantly at home in their townhouse
The townhouse is beautifully decorated. Lush tropical and well tended gardens surround their home.
The pool and jacuzzi along with the gym area is only a 1/2 block from their front door.
This was a very special experience for us, and we live in Hawaii! We highly recommend that you stay at Kirsten and Laura’s home and have the experience of a lifetime
Impeccably presented property with amenities to match.
Kirsten and Laura are top notch hosts radiating aloha and embodying the PLU spirit. So well organized and so generous with their time and advice.
You’ll need a car - we chose to rent Kirsten & Laura’s personal vehicle for the duration of our stay and I suggest you do the same. The car was immaculate, reliable, economical, safe and fairly priced.
Avoiding the inevitable small island rental car office jamb after a long flight and being picked up and dropped-off from the airport was invaluable.
Thanks for having us ladies – it was a real pleasure.
In a word? Wow! This exchange exceeded all of our expectations.
Kristen & Laura’s home is in a gated, resort community that is a 10 minute drive to one of the world’s best beaches (“Hapuna beach”).
They have a beautiful, clean & spacious home in a perfect location - next to the pool/jacuzzi; a nearby resort beach and restaurant where you can snorkel and enjoy a cabana or rent a SUP/kayak; a special rocky ocean spot to watch the sunset; a 3 min walk to a pretty outdoor mall with coffee/groceries/Tommy Bahama’s restaurant/shop and many more stores and restaurants all opening up.
To top it off, Kirsten & Laura are lovely people. We got the chance to socialize with them and enjoyed lots of conversations and they are super friendly and incredibly helpful and happy to answer any question you have.
We were so honored to be their first PLU exchanger - we loved this exchange and have made more lifelong PLU friends.
If we could welcome Kirsten and Laura back tomorrow, we would, and that includes their delightful pups - I would have adopted those cuties on the spot if they had let me. What warm, generous people, who left our space sparkling (I think Laura must have vacuumed multiple times:-))), and probably cleaner than before their stay. The most important thing to know about Kirsten and Laura, I think: How absolutely helpful they have been to us, two newbies, as we have begun our PLU journey. They were our first guests and helped us get started in so many ways, from giving us advice and tips about the space, our home guide, and more. We were lucky enough to spend some time with them at the end of their stay, when we helped them get up North, and that did it: We consider them friends for life, and we hope hope hope they may come back our way one of these days. We can’t wait to stay in their amazing Hawaii space in November - we know it’s going to be fabulous (how could it not?). We can't imagine a better introduction to the wonderful world of PLU than having Kirsten and Laura as our first guests, and we simply cannot thank them enough.
Kirsten and Laura were impeccable guests. We were fortunate to meet them several times during their stay and know they took great care of our home! We had fun visiting and making them pizza's during their stay in our home, and we all had a blast. They are a great part of the PLU family, and we can't wait to stay in their Hawaii home and hopefully see them again!
Kirsten and Laura were wonderful guests! Right from the beginning they communicated quickly and thoroughly. They were kind and excited about the stay. Once they arrived, I could tell that they really wanted to experience things and live life like locals as they sought out the most beautiful hikes and trails and we were able to talk about some of my favorite spots. I loved knowing that they were really appreciating the property. They left the house absolutely spotless! It was a delight to return home and find it in such amazing condition. I’d recommend them to anyone as incredible guests.
We could not have asked for more perfect guests for our very-first ever home exchange -thank you, thank you, Kirsten, Laura, and the doodles. They spent five days in our home last week, and we can’t begin to tell you how much we enjoyed having them here. Kirsten is an amazing communicator - quick to respond, clear, thorough - and she helped us so much with tips, ideas, and models for how to go about setting up our home, writing our house manual, you name it. They handled the horrid loud fireworks on the 4th with grace, too (sorry about that)) .
We can’t imagine a better introduction to the world of home exchange; you’d be very very lucky to exchange with them, if you get the chance. They also were beyond conscientious about leaving the space spotless (we couldn’t tell they’d been there, except for the lovely gift), and we can’t wait to welcome them again; such gracious, delightful people. Thank you, Kirsten and Laura, so much!
Kirsten and Laura were great! Wonderful communication. They were very respectful of our home and we look forward in visiting their home in October. They are welcome anytime back.. we hope their next exchange is great for them as well.
Marc and Jacky
We loved having Kirsten and Laura, along with Kirsten's Mum and Dad, staying at our home at Snells Beach.
We had been corresponding for a long time so it was great to finally meet them and spend some fun time together.
They treated our home as they do theirs so we were very happy to find it spotlessly clean when they left.
We would definitely welcome Kirsten and Laura back and hope to see them back in NZ in the not too distant future. 😁
This was our 2nd exchange with Kirsten and Laura and they are welcome back any time! They are the perfect exchange partners, great communication throughout the whole exchange process and they left our home immaculate and our car was also spotless.
Kirsten and Laura are perfect guests! They stayed in our Mount Joy, PA home for a week while exploring Amish Country and the surrounding areas. They are excellent communicators, and left our home (and car) clean and tidy! Our family is very excited to visit their Hawaii home in a few months and provide the same care and communication that they have shown to us. Mahalo ❤️😊
The Corso Family
Kirsten and Laura are fantastic and thoughtful guests! Love their communication and how lovely they were! :)
Laura, Kirsten, and their two doodles spent two weeks in our home last summer. We could not have asked for more gracious and responsible guests. From the very beginning, they were easy to communicate with, quick to respond, and very clear about their travel plans. They were both incredibly pleasant and we felt reassured and comfortable hosting them and their pups.
They stayed in touch throughout their stay and were beyond conscientious about making sure that everything was in order at our house when they departed. To put it mildly... our home was absolutely spotless when we returned home. In fact, the only sign that they stayed in our home was the very thoughtful gifts they left for us.
In sum, it was a pleasure hosting Kirsten and Laura. We would highly recommend them as future guests and hope that we can welcome them back again either in NJ or on Cape Cod when they make their way back out to the East Coast.
We were delighted to exchange our home with Kirsten and Laura during their trip to NZ and can recommend them 100%! They were kind, courteous and lovely to connect with and communication was excellent throughout the whole exchange process. They looked after our home beautifully and we are already talking about another exchange with them in 2025.
Kirsten & Laura have become friends, so that probably says it all! Great exchangers so don’t hesitate!
We just loved having Kirsten, Laura and Lorraine at home!
They are lovely people, so so friendly, respectful, and interested in everything there was to see around. We communicated a lot and it was such a pleasure to help them.
They left our home spotless, and our cat Kira was happy to have them around ;-)
We look forward to visiting Hawaii next year, and even though we won't be able to meet them there, I'm sure we'll keep in touch in the future!
Super friendly, super clean and super tidy. No hesitation in recommending Kirsten, Laura and Mummy Lorraine as guests. Loved meeting them and loved having them. People like us? Definitely.
Hopefully they will be able to spend a little more time in our part of England on their next trip and we can be home to spend more time with them too.
Kirsten and Laura are the perfect exchange partners! The communication was timely and fun, they cleaned the house before leaving and they enjoyed their stay. We are looking forward to our stay at their home in a few months.
Kirsten was an amazing communicator. Simply delightful and sweet to share with us the adventures she and her group had in Nashville. The house was left in perfect shape! We would love for this terrific couple snd friends to come back anytime!
Marc, Jacky and their two boys were a pleasure to host in Hawaii! Communication was always fabulous and the bonus was, we actually got to meet briefly at the airport as they were leaving and we were flying back home!
This was a wonderful non-simultaneous exchange and we hope we can do another one in the future! Mahalo 🌺🌋
We love exchanging with Annie and Richard and this was our second non-sim with them. Hopefully we will have many more to come!
It’s great when you have guests in your home who you trust will take care of all and anything that may come up. We definitely feel this way with these two! We always know our home is in fantastic hands when they are visiting…
We are also thankful that our home will be perfect and clean when we return home or that they will get it 100% ready for the next guests if we have a back to back.
Hopefully next time around we will actually get to meet in person! Until then, mahalo 🌺🌋
Another wonderful stay in Annette and Bill’s comfortable suite - see past review for more comments on their home.
This time around we got to spend some time together and loved getting to know this wonderful and friendly couple. They even went out of their way to give us a ride to our next destination.
We did catch the ferry from Seattle to Southworth and walked to the house (3.4 miles), super easy and very fun! A great location to go into the city and explore using public transportation. You can also park your car at the ferry terminal and walk on or drive on if you need your car in Seattle.
Many thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you to Hawaii soon 🌺🌋
Sonya, Adam and family were wonderful, respectful guests. Communication with Sonya has been great overall - timely, easy and very friendly.
It was fun to hear about what they were up to when they were at our place. They got to see and do quite a lot and they really had a good time!
Our cleaner gave them a thumbs up for a cleaning job well done and I got a video showing the kids even cleaning the wheels on the car! Above and beyond - awesome!
It was a pleasure hosting the Price ohana, and we look forward to visiting Victoria next summer.
In a few words…. Holy wow! Architecturally stunning home with amazing views and generous, wonderful, friendly hosts!
Judy and I have been in contact for over two years now and we were finally able to work out dates to exchange. We also feel like we have made some really good friends in the process.
We got to see and do quite a lot in the area, but I think our favorite thing was just relaxing at the house. Our home away from home!
We did quite a few hikes in the area, went to Tillamook for cheese and ice cream and loved walking on the beach at low tide.
The house itself is very clean, extremely comfortable, fully stocked (LOVE the chefs kitchen!) and a fabulous place to unwind. We fell in love and didn’t want to leave…
One of our highlights was having a pizza party with Judy and Larry and then going on a hike with Judy and Olive to one of her favorite spots.
This was one of our favorite exchanges to date and we look forward to welcoming Judy and Larry to Hawaii in January.
Loved having you as guests in our home! We've now gained new lifelong friends..... thank you!
Jess and Luke were wonderful, conscientious and respectful guests. It was a pleasure to have them stay during their anniversary!
Communication was quick, very friendly and always respectful prior, during and after their stay. We loved hearing about what they were doing and where they were going next! They did a lot in a short time 😊
They were very appreciative of their stay and also did a great job tidying and cleaning both the house and car before they flew out. They would be welcomed back anytime ❤️
Mahalo mahalo BIG TIME! You both and this trip will not be forgotten. What a dream come true!
We have been to Bend many times and for this trip we decided to try and stay closer to the hiking trails, near waterfalls and somewhere secluded and private. Megan’s home fit the bill and we could walk from the house to the trailhead that takes you to the Tumalo waterfalls - great trail!
We were concerned about the heat in Bend (90 degrees) but Megan let us know that the house stays quite cool as it’s tucked away in the trees and is always shaded. Thankfully she was right as there is no AC and the fans were not working right. The house stayed nice and cool throughout the day.
The home has a very interesting and unique layout with no designated living room or dining room. There was a table on the deck, but unfortunately we didn’t get to use it as the mosquitoes were really bad during our stay - bring bug spray! Minimalistic home setup so we did have to shop for a few items.
The upstairs king bed was quite comfortable! If you sleep late or need blackout shades, bring an eye mask as there are no window shades. However, the forest views were beautiful and we enjoyed watching the rain fall and the trees sway during an afternoon thunderstorm.
We appreciate Megan accepting our globe stay 😊
Jennie and I have been in communication for over two years and we were finally able to nail down dates and exchange!
Communication has always been timely, respectful and very friendly. We loved hearing about all their adventures during their stay (some we haven’t even done yet!) and we were very happy they loved our home and the Big island.
Jennie and her boys were wonderful and trustworthy guests who would be welcome back anytime, and our cleaner gave them two thumbs up for a job well done.
We look forward to going to Scalea, Italy in 2027.
We were honored to be Annette and Bill’s first guests in their adorable and very well presented basement guest apartment. Annette went above and beyond to make my birthday special with home cooked treats and a lovely welcome basket!
The space is very comfortable, roomy, super clean, extremely well organized, and fully stocked with everything we needed. As if it couldn’t get any better, the views across the bay were fantastic! We also had full access to their beautiful garden which included snap peas, zucchini, and plenty of fresh herbs.
We loved the nearby off-leash dog park; the best we have ever been to! It’s huge with loads of trails through the trees. Our dogs absolutely loved it! We also enjoyed hiking from the house to Harper Park. Once we arrived at the park, we enjoyed a beautiful hike through the trees. This area is also dog friendly.
The downtown area of Port Orchard is very cute as well especially the sweet shop with the fresh taffy!
Annette and Bill were home during our stay so we were able to meet them. We had a great conversation with these lovely people and they are a great addition to our PLU community.
Welcome Annette and Bill! 🌺
We just had a wonderful 8 day stay in Glacier, Wa!
Marc and Jacky’s cabin is absolutely adorable, comfortable and very cozy. Located in the woods and very private/secluded but also fully stocked with everything you need and very clean.
We loved being so close to hiking trails and waterfalls. I used "AllTrails" to check for the smaller trails not well known and was able to walk from the house to lone pine trail head with no issues. Only spent a small amount of time on the road. Lone pine trail was wonderful and the dogs loved it too!
We thoroughly enjoyed the spa after a long hike and also the wood burning fireplace. Even though it was summer, for us being from Hawaii it was quite cold! Having a fire was a real treat.
They left us a lovely welcome basket of goodies and we had great communication from beginning to end.
We would love to come back sometime and look forward to welcoming Marc and Jacky to Hawaii later this year.
Michelle and Rich are wonderful people and excellent guests who we got to meet and share some time with during their stay.
They took great care of our home and car while keeping in contact about any questions/concerns and also sharing what they were up to. Their photos were amazing and they genuinely loved our home and the island.
We hope to meet them again sometime in the future and they would be welcomed back anytime.
Alina and her family (two daughters and partners) just finished their stay in our home on the Big Island, Hawaii. We got to meet them all on their last day and they were all very thankful and seemed to have a wonderful time both in our home and on experiencing the island. We were happy to host them and they did a nice job of taking care of our home and car.
This was a wonderful non-sim exchange with Alina! We hope to do it again sometime in the future 🌺
WOW! This exchange with Glenys and Lindsay far exceeded our expectations in every way. Snells beach is a hidden gem for sure. I didn’t know a lot about this area before the exchange, but come to find out, there is so much to see and do! If only we had more time….
We absolutely fell in love with the area ❤️ The Saturday market at Matakana was busy but really fun, Warkworth had big grocery stores and shops to load up with supplies and being able to drive just 20-30min to several local regional parks for some hiking and beach time was amazing. We especially enjoyed Tawharanui regional park.
Their home is fantastic! It has magnificent views of the bay and when the tide would go out you can walk the length of Snells beach and even around the rocks into Algies bay on the other side.
It’s very clean, quiet, uncluttered and stocked with everything you need. We also loved the house layout as it has two living rooms and bedroom separation where you can have your own privacy if traveling with another couple.
A highlight was just being able to just sit in multiple areas around the house and patio enjoying the sunshine and the views (we had fabulous weather!). My favorite was the breakfast bar in the morning and the outside L shape couch in the evening.
We also got to spend some social time with them both and really enjoyed their company and conversation. This exchange was wonderful and we hope to do it again sometime.
If you have an opportunity to exchange with these lovely kiwis, just do it! We recommend without reservation.
Many thanks you two and we will be back!
Lauren and family were good guests to have in our home. Communication with Lauren has been top notch from start to finish and they took care of both our home and car.
They seemed to have a really good time on the island exploring and also enjoying the benefits that come with our home and resort location.
This was a very good non-simultaneous exchange and we would recommend swapping with the Corso family.
Another wonderful exchange with Annie and Richard! This is our second time staying in their beautiful home in the wonderful area of Papamoa. We just love it!
Even though it was our second time, we still found so many activities that we missed the first time. There is a lot to see and do here.
Some highlights for us were finally walking the base of Mount Maunganui! Wow, very Hawaii like! We loved it! Visiting the Te Waihou blue springs (that just reopened), hiking the trails in Papamoa regional park and collecting fresh pipi’s (clams) at low tide.
Annie’s garden is also really amazing and we loved being able to pick tomatoes, lettuce, raspberries, strawberries, peppers and plums. Their home is always very clean, comfortable and well stocked with everything you need.
We highly recommend exchanging with Annie and Richard and we would definitely do it again! Many thanks for another memorable stay 🌺
Lindsie, Curtis and the boys were lovely guests in our home. Communication before, during and after is always timely, and very friendly. We both checked in multiple times throughout their stay and they seemed to be really enjoying our home, the resort of Mauna Lani and the island.
We look forward to seeing their part of the world this summer on our Canadian adventures!
Glenys, Lindsay and friends were awesome guests in our home. Our cleaner gave them 2 thumbs up for a job well done (we were not home after they’d left). They took really great care with both our home and car.
It’s been a fun journey communicating with Glenys and it’s always super friendly, timely and respectful.
We look forward to meeting them both and staying in their home when we are in NZ next year.
Mahalo for being great guests ❤️
Thanks for the great feedback Kirsten and Laura. Looking forward to seeing you both in February. 😍
We had a lovely time in Pennsylvania and in Lauren’s cosy, comfortable home. We really got to know each other through the initial set up process as communication was a breeze. We appreciated that Lauren and Ryan’s home was clean and organized, and that we could pick fresh vegetables from their garden and gather eggs from their four charming chickens.
We arrived to a very thoughtful (and generous!) welcome package that included much appreciated treats for our pups and a ton of local goodies. Our dogs especially loved the park that backs up to the house and the many walking trails to explore around the immediate area. A huge bonus was being able to park our motorhome in front of their house.
Lauren provided really helpful information and the home’s great location allowed us to explore the Amish area.
We look forward to welcoming the Corso family to Hawaii next year. Mahalo for your hospitality.
We had a wonderful stay in Alina’s cute beach cottage by the sea. It’s very comfortable and in a great location. We enjoyed picking fresh vegetables from the garden, walking the dogs on the beach and our favorite was catching the Bridgeport ferry to Port Jefferson for the day (dogs allowed on the ferry!).
We didn’t have great weather, but that didn’t take away from our experience or the exchange. Alina is lovely to communicate with and we look forward to welcoming her and her daughter to Hawaii next year!
Annie and Richard are the perfect guests ❤️ They took great care of our home and car and cleaned everything too to bottom before they left. We are so happy they enjoyed our home and we look forward to doing it all again next year! If you have a chance to have them as guests, do not hesitate!
Jen and Jerry’s home was perfect for our exchange. It’s very spacious and you have plenty of room to spread out, relax and enjoy.
We felt totally at home! We loved the kitchen area which was very well stocked and enjoyed the fenced backyard (for the pups) and the pool. Really comfortable stay in every way.
Also close to the train station to take you into the city and it’s a very easy and comfortable ride to Penn Station.
We had the pleasure of meeting them both while in the Cape and thoroughly enjoy their company.
People like us? Most definitely!
Jude and Murray were wonderful guests! We have had some great conversations and continue to do so. We had no issues at all and our house and car were well taken care of. We would highly recommend this wonderful couple and we look forward to visiting Bateau Bay in the future!
Jen and Jerry are wonderful and respectful guests. They did a great job cleaning up and taking care of both the car and condo. It was a joy to have them in our home and to get to know them! Do not hesitate to have them as guests.
Peter and Dora are wonderful people and fabulous guests! Peter is such a great communicator and super funny.
We loved having them as guests and would welcome them back anytime. They took wonderful care of our home and cleaned it top to bottom to get it ready for the next guests. Highly recommend!
Rita and I have been in communication for over a year and we have had some truly great conversations! We were super excited to finally welcome them (Rita, Chris and Liam) to our island paradise. They are fabulous, honest, respectful guests and we loved having them.
Our cleaner even gave her stamp of approval and was impressed that Rita did exactly what she said she would regarding cleaning up after themselves.
We would highly recommend Rita and her family and can say without reservation that they are definitely people like us!
We look forward to Whistler next year! Mahalo nui 🌺
We had a fabulous exchange with Laurène and her family! From start to finish the communication was excellent and now we feel like we are old friends. We feel very thankful to have had this exchange go so well and to have meet some truly wonderful people.
Our house was very well taken care of as well as our car. They cleaned and did the laundry prior to leaving and left us a very thoughtful gift. Absolutely no issues at all and we highly recommend this lovely family.
We hope we get to exchange again in the future!
Merci beaucoup et rested en contact!
We had the best time at Annie and Richards beautiful home in Papamoa. We loved the location - not quite country but also not city either. Easy access to the Mount, Rotorua and the must see Hobbiton.
Their home is very clean, super organized, comfortable and uncluttered. The kitchen was well-stocked and we enjoyed the opportunity to gather vegetables from the garden. We felt like we were at home. Communication from start to finish has been great and they are wonderful hosts.
We enjoyed our time so much that we have already booked another exchange for next year!
We would highly recommend staying in this great area and we look forward to welcoming Annie and Richard to our Hawaii home later this year. Thank you both!
We had a great time in Nelson! Laurie’s home was spacious and comfortable for our group and in a good location. We got to see Abel Tasman NP which was amazing, sample some fabulous Nelson wines and ride e-bike’s through Spooners tunnel and around Nelson. Thanks so much Maroni family 🌺
Carol and Gene are perfect guests and lovely people. Really happy we got to meet this time and show them around the resort. We would welcome them back and hope to stay at their Kaneohe home again soon! Do not hesitate to welcome them into your home! Mahalo nui 🌺
Thank you Kirsten! You are welcome at our home anytime :-). And we are already looking at your schedule to see if we can come over to stay. Aloha
Derek and Andrea are perfect house guests! Very friendly, great communication and easy to get along with. We had no issues at all and would highly recommend them.
They took great care with our car and cleaned the house before they left. As we were on island at the same time, we got to spend some time together which was fun. We would definitely welcome them back without hesitation. People like us? Most definitely.
We had a great time in Mouans-Sartoux! Communication with Laurene was fantastic from beginning to end. She went out of her way to pick us up from the airport and drop us at the train station at the end of our stay. Her home is spacious, clean and comfortable. We had plenty of room for the 3 of us to spread out and relax. We really enjoyed the location as it was close to many places we wanted to visit. We look forward to welcoming Laurene and her family to Hawaii next year. People like us? Definitely 😊
A fabulous exchange from beginning to end! Peter and Dory are just lovely people and we enjoyed spending time with them. Peter went out of his way to help us get to his place because of the rail strike, and also gave us a ride back to the local train station at the end of our stay.
Their home is in a quiet, quaint little village and is super clean, extremely well organized, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding area - the tips from Peter allowed us to experience places we would not have otherwise.
We look forward to welcoming them to our Hawaiian paradise next year 🌺

Nashville is a great place to visit and Julie’s home is in the perfect location. Close to downtown but super peaceful and quiet as well. We were able to Uber most places, as well as order DoorDash and instacart to the house. Julie was friendly, helpful and communicative throughout the exchange and we look forward to welcoming her to our home next year.
Laurie, Joe, Piper and Beckett are amazing guests! This was our first home exchange and we are so thankful for the Maroni family. Laurie helped so much with getting us prepared and for also making us feel super comfortable with not only them but the whole process. This exchange was absolutely perfect all the way around.
Our home was left exactly the same as when we left - spotless. Communication was amazing throughout, and we feel like we have established a great friendship. We can’t wait to get to New Zealand and to hopefully see them all soon!
Mahalo Nui Loa Maroni Ohana ❤️
