Neighbourhood

Within a couple of minutes' walk in one direction you reach the square Medborgarplatsen, where you'll find a food hall, cinemas and lots of restaurants and bars. Going in the opposite direction and turning right at the end of the street will take you to Vitabergsparken, the largest park in the area. Turning left takes you to the spectacular views and historical buildings at Fjällgatan. Additionally, some streets in the local area (though not mine) are pedestrianised from around May to September and turned in to outdoor restaurants and beer gardens. More details are available on request, but you can find out a lot about the area just by doing a search for "SoFo" or even Södermalm. This map is also a very useful source of info on the immediate area: www.stockholm.se/PageFiles/74474/city_walk1.pdf . (The flat is right around the corner from number 2 on the second map and number 8 on the first.)

Nearest airport

Closest airports: Arlanda and Bromma.

Getting around

If you are a mobile person who likes to wander, you can easily walk to the Old Town or the city centre. However most of the buses from the end of the street offer picturesque routes to many major tourist attractions, including the Old Town and the City Hall, the Djurgården ferry, the Royal Palace, Kungsträdgården and the main shopping areas in the city, where you can also catch the tram or bus to Djurgården. "Hop on, hop off" buses also stop close by. Buses offer major advantages over the underground in that you get to see a lot of the views and tourist sites of the city while travelling to your destination. However, there is also easy access to the underground system and commuter train.

Shona

I am a student counsellor at a university in Stockholm. I'm originally from Scotland, but have lived in Stockholm now for decades so I know the city well. Since I have a second home (a log cabin in the province of Dalecarlia) and can work remotely, I can be flexible about offering stays which are simultaneous or non-simultaneous or involve Globes. I'm also very experienced with cats if you need a cat-sitter! I see furry felines as an extra perk :-).

"Rough dates for when I'd like to be in Munich, though my stay may be shorter. Exchanges need not be reciprocal or simultaneous - I would be happy to offer a Globe!"
