General overview

This beautifully restored 1907 craftsman home is in the heart of Berkeley's gracious Elmwood neighborhood.

The space

There is a master bedroom, and three queen bedrooms. There are two half baths and two full baths, one with a large claw-foot tub. The house comfortably sleeps 8. The lovely garden has a large dining table with a cafe umbrella, a fire pit, and and lounge chairs chairs. We have a very large television in one bedroom suitable for screening films, and subscriptions to all streaming services. There is a housekeeper and gardener. You can see magazine photos of our home here: https://www.remodelista.com/posts/ayalet-waldman-and-michael-chabon-in-berkeley/

Guest access

The house is on two stories with a staircase.

Notes

The house is available for simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchanges from July-October every year and occasionally during the Christmas holidays. A car swap is available. We have a Tesla.

Neighbourhood

The Elmwood neighborhood of Berkeley and the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland (we are a 5-10 minute walk from either) are full of fine restaurants and shops, and there is a movie theater. There is a lovely old grocery store around the corner that has organic vegetables and fruits, meats, and a well-curated wine department.

Getting to my home

Bay Area Rapid Transit is only a 10 minute walk. Driving time to San Francisco is 15 minutes over the Bay Bridge.

Nearest airport

Oakland Airport is half an hour away by car, a bit longer on public transport. SFO is about 45 minutes to an hour away, depending on traffic. It's all accessible via public transport.

Getting around

You can walk anywhere you need to go, but it might be nice to have a car (or use ours) so you can drive to places like Napa Valley, Big Sur, or other Northern California attractions.
