General overview
Our historic little town of Prestwick (population 12,000) is just north of our larger neighbour, Ayr. It is a residential and holiday town, with an almost village-like atmosphere - yet it has a full range of shops, restaurants and amenities.
The Main Street has an excellent choice of restaurants, bars and bistros.
Our local beach is sandy and has a long promenade, ideal for evening strolls.
The space
The house has all the usual amentities such as central heating, modern kitchen, new bathroom, washer/dryer, 42" and 32" widescreen LCD digital TV with satellite reception, two sitting rooms and a conservatory.
One of the sitting rooms has a computer with ADSL internet access and there is wi-fi throughout.
Guest access
The main bedroom, two sitting rooms, conservatory, kitchen and bathroom are all on the ground level.
There is a single bedroom upstairs.
There are two steps up to the front door.
Notes
I provide a house manual.
Car exchanges preferred.
I can usually arrange for friends to pick you up at the airport, drive you to my home and settle you in. They are also happy to help out.

Neighbourhood
Prestwick offers a full range of indoor and outdoor leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool and one of the largest indoor bowling stadiums in Europe. Prestwick is also home to three major golf courses, four putting greens, a tennis club, a cricket club, four health clubs and a sailing club. The town boundary touches the famous Royal Troon Golf Course and the Turnberry course is about 30 miles away. In total, there are over twenty courses within twenty minutes of our house. In fact, the Golf Open Championship was founded in Prestwick.
Within a 10 mile radius of our house are 3 theatres, a multi-screen cinema, a football stadium and the famous Ayr racecourse.
The town has several opticians, chiropodists, dentists, medical surgeries, chemists, post offices, taxi operators, supermarkets, gas stations, churches, etc.
We are only a few miles from the birthplace of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.
Getting around
The shops and the beach are within walking distance.
We are within easy reach of both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The bus stop is about 100 yards away and there is an express bus to take you into the heart of Glasgow.
The train station is about 1 mile away and goes directly into Glasgow.
Both the rail and bus terminals in Glasgow take you anywhere in Scotland.
Just outside the town (a five minute taxi ride) is the Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. It offers low cost connections to many European cities.
