Western Australia is sunny and relaxing, if you were to stay at our house we recommend:
- Piara Waters farmers market every 2nd Saturday
- Food truck Friday at Shipwreck park
- Dinner, drinks and icecream at Elizabeth Quay in the middle of the city, beautiful views!
- take the ferry to Rottnest Island and see the Quokkas, go snorkling or ride bikes to the lighthouse. There is a TedTalk about our quokkas here

- The new museum is world class, level 3 is the best but the geology room is also phenomenal and we have a piece of the moon there
- Core cider house and surrounding fruit orchards, you can get a delicious meal and go fruit picking
- going to the movies and out for dinner at Carousel shopping centre. Newly renovated and doubled in size, you could easily spend an entire day there.
- Horse riding early in the morning or late in the afternoon in summer in the Australian bush
-Perth zoo is constantly holding events and you can feed the giraffes
- Swan Valley wineries and breweries located 30 mins drive away including cheese, honey, chocolate and coffee tasting
- Beach at Cockburn located 20 mins drive
- We live in a family-oreinted area so we have some phenomenal parks for kids - Robot Park, Shipwreck Park, Mills Park, Beeliar Regional Park has giant turtles and a splash pad
- Take the train into Perth for dinner, a show, shopping or a picnic at Kings Park
- Touch Australian animals at Caversham Wildlife Park or Armadale Reptile Centre
- go to the Kanyana wildlife hospital in the Perth hills and see the animals
- The Pinnacles are amazing, google them! It's like an alien landscape.
- Day out at historical Fremantle, tour of the former Fremantle Prison built by convicts. You can get to Fremantle via train very easily. They have tours of the tunnels underneath too and the weekend Fremantle Markets are famous
- A long weekend down at Margaret River (lots of wine, food and produce, beaches, surfing, caves, icecream)
- Day trip to Hillarys Boat Harbour or Adventure World
- Drive up to York and go hot air ballooning - about an 1.5 hr drive but its nice to see the Wheatbelt region especially in spring when we have world famous wildflowers
- Try water sports, there are a lot of places where you can go jet skiing, out on a fishing boat, whale watching, learn to surf, snorkling. Perth is all about getting out and about in nature or the ocean, reading a book at the beach then go to a nice pub for dinner.
-If you fancy, you can go swimming with sealions at Jurien Bay.
- We have some really nice new family friendly pubs in the area, roughly 5 to 10 minute drive
- If you are coming in school holidays I can recommend some school holiday programs for kids (free or paid). We have a OSH club up the road that takes kids on fun excursions during school holidays if you fancy a break or want to go out without the kids for a day.
- if you don't drive we live in an area with regular buses and a lot of Uber drivers but public transport in Perth is pretty slow.
Explore the rest of Australia! You could head up to the Outback and see Ularu or Karijini National Park, fly or take the train to Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney. Head up north to Monkey Mia or Kalbari, or head down south to Albany. Exmouth is amazing too, go swimming with whales.
We have a new supermarket built just at the end of the street.
