Neighbourhood

Our neighbourhood is a very family-friendly, safe and picturesque part of Sydney. The main street, Darling Street, runs from one end of the peninsular right down to East Balmain which has a stunning view of the Harbour Bridge across the water. Darling Street has many cafes and restaurants but is more busy for breakfast and lunches and a little quieter at night time. Saying that, there are around 15 pubs on the peninsular alone so there are plenty to choose from!

Nearest airport

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is only 11km away which is about 20-30 minutes by car or around 1 hour via public transport (train then bus).

Getting Around

Our home is 100m walk to the bus stop for the 441 bus which takes you straight into Sydney CBD, dropping you off at the beautiful Queen Victoria Building (QVB). The bus ride is usually about 15 minutes (unless you go during peak times on work days) and departs every half hour or so. Alternatively, you can walk 500m up the road to Darling Street, where there are more frequent busses (442 also to QVB or others which take you to other parts of Sydney). Another way to get around is the ferry which is a spectacular way to see Sydney Harbour. The F8 service from Balmain Wharf is a 10-minute walk from our house or the F4 service from Balmain East Wharf is a 25-30 minute walk (or a bus ride on the 442 down Darling Street).

People Like Us Local Guide

Our family love playing tourist in our own city because there is so much we have not yet seen! We are happy to meet visitors and show them the sights, provide tips on where to go and grab a drink or a meal while in Sydney.
