The house is located in a village with all the necessary shops: A pharmacy, a small supermarket, a butcher's, 2 bakeries, a cheese shop, a fishmonger's, a fruit and vegetable seller, restaurants, bars, a Norman souvenir shop...
For children, a playground facing the sea, a mini golf course, a pumptrack for rollerblading, skateboarding and cycling.
A greenway allows you to follow the coast or go as far as Caen to visit its castle and abbeys.
A market takes place every Thursday in the city's covered market
In the summer it also takes place on other days which is convenient.

Getting Around
To do the shopping you can get there on foot (2 min from the main street).
You can also take the car or the bus 20 which takes you to Caen, Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville etc.
In Caen, there is a large train station to take the SNCF train (Caen-Paris: 2h10 min).
Close to our home in Ouistreham, there is a port from where you can take the ferry to England (Portsmouth)

Our stay at Les and Edwige’s home was FANTASTIC, although we could not meet them in person, they were checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. They left a printout with information about everything we could possibly need, from bakeries to doctors. And the town is just gorgeous, you wake up and hear nothing but birds, the beach is just a few blocks away, well, in fact everything is just a few blocks away, restaurants, the supermarket, the wonderful bakeries and so on. We have traveled the world and very few places have made us as happy as their house and town! -
Our stay at Les' and Edwige's home was wonderful. Their location near the sea and village was exactly what we needed to enjoy the nearby attractions. We visited the WWII museum in town where German bunkers were still located. Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery and Overland Museum took an entire day.( The museum in Caen is better, however.) Bayeau and Mont St. Michel are inforgettable, and our hosts' car got us around superbly. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch prepared by our hosts upon our arrival. We were starving after the train ride from Paris (3-hour delay). Our living quarters were just right, and the decks provided the sounds of morning doves and a nice breeze daily. We can't say enough about Les and Edwige! So considerate and easy to work with. Every detail was thought of and prepared for. They even mailed a package to me in the US containing some items I left behind for which I sent $$ easily via Venmo. We hope to see them again one day when we can spend more time together. My husband and I spent ten days on a globe exchange at Leslie and Edwigés lovely home in the small beach town of Merville Franceville Plage, Normandy. We just left their home less than a week ago and spent our last few days in Paris before returning to the USA last night. Honestly, xhen we were in Paris we both wished we could be back in our little home in Normandy. The hosts were so kind to pick us up at our hotel after we crossed by ferry from England. They drove us to Caen to pick up our car then accompanied us back to their home to show us around and make sure de were comfortable before they left on their vacation. We had a wonderful time. The house is fully equipped with everything you need for a home stay. The village is completely walkable but a car is necessary in order to travel easily to other areas. We soient a lot of time in the market making fresh orange juice. And of course we visited one of the two boulangeries every day to stock up on pain au chocolate and sandwiches de jambon. We took these along on our drives for picnics. There are several good restaurants in town where we had dinner.. Really if you like a slower pace without much traffic, a place to walk to the beach, or church or the. Restaurants, you will love it there. Also we were focusing on D Day and there are two very important sites within 10 minutes or less of their house. And we really enjoyed spending a few hours with Leslie and Edwige and we are hoping they will allow us to host them at our primary home in Muncie, Indiana. We had a great time at Les and Edwige’s place. Their house is in a beautiful location, very close to the beach and a wonderful starting point to explore Normandy. The house has all the amenities you need for a pleasant stay, we appreciate them leaving us some drinks and local food in the fridge plus cookies and jams. Very generous of them. We would love to return to their place in the future and we are looking forward to welcome them to our house. -
We had a very nice exchange with Leslie and Edwige. From the first moment there was nice contact via Facetime. For us it was the second exchange and their house is a very nice and nice place to be. The house is fully equipped, a large garden with a lovely terrace and especially close to the sea. Les and Edwige gave us a warm welcome with local products and they know a lot about Normandy. We received all kinds of great tips for places and local restaurants. On the way back we met each other and it was very warm and cordial. We warmly recommend their home!
