General overview
Graham and I live in one of Australia’s most beautiful, fun and vibrant holiday destinations. We hope you put it on your travel itinerary and come stay in our property. Living here is a dream and we never tire of it. Manly Beach really has it all and is a place that is wonderful for all ages and interests.
Our property is set up with all age groups in mind and is one of the highest rated in the whole Manly area. You can save on those expensive car-hire fees, as no car is needed. Everything is walkable. If you want to explore the Blue Mountains (recommended) you can get there by public transport, or hire a car for the day. We sometimes are happy to consider reciprocal car exchanges.
The iconic ferry trip from Manly Wharf directly into Sydney city is spectacular and loved as much by locals, as it is by domestic and international visitors. I recommend sitting out the front and have your camera ready for the many sites you will see eg Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison, Garden Island, Botanic Gardens, Luna Park, Our Prime Minister's Sydney residence, yacht races, and even whales. You will not want to put your camera down! There is also free internet, a sometimes open bar and snacks onboard. While the trip is a mode of transport into the city, it is an inexpensive way to see some of Sydney's famous sites.
Trip Advisor has voted Manly as the best beach in Australia for the past few years and in the top 10 beaches in the world. Everyone has their favourite of course and beaches in Australia are beautiful, but Manly definitely has something special.
Whilst Manly has an amazing vibe and such a fun and beautiful place to holiday at, our apartment is located in a lovely quiet, leafy street with friendly neighbours. We are so close to everything, yet a beautiful retreat or oasis for you to come back to after a day exploring Sydney and its beautiful coastline- very much the best of both worlds.
The space
We invite you to stay in our renovated first floor (up steps seen in photos) 2 B/R art deco apartment situated in a lovely tree-lined street- only a 4 minute walk to world famous Manly Beach! The apartment is light-filled with lovely afternoon sea breezes, and when the surf is up you can hear the ocean. If you like the sounds of nature and are up early, you can hear the sounds of native birds, but with double- glazed windows you may need to open your front door or windows to enjoy.
Our fully-equipped apartment is in a great location and suits families and couples seeking a peaceful and comfortable getaway in Manly. We are fortunate to be located away from the party areas yet close enough to walk along the beach promenade into the cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping zone.
We are lucky to have an on-site car space for your entire stay, so you can park your car and enjoy your holiday without any worries or extra expense. Parking in Manly is hard to find and our guests love that they can leave their car safely onsite, and not have to worry about parking.
Our apartment features two queen-sized bedrooms with quality mattresses and linens, wardrobes, A/C, dimmer light, luggage rack, heating, ensuring a comfortable stay for everyone in your group. The bathroom has a spacious shower with great water pressure and hot water, while the lounge room has a sofa bed, reclining leather armchair, Smart TV, DVD's, Wii games, Play Station 3, board and card games, and plenty of great books to enjoy.
The fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle, coffee pod machine, and full-sized fridge/freezer, as well as a dining area for up to five guests. We recommend an max of 4 guests. Our apartment also features a study desk, making it ideal for remote work.
If you're traveling with an infant, we have everything you need, including a travel cot, high chair, baby bath, and nappies.
Our supplied Sydney and Manly guidebooks, brochures and books are yours to use during your stay as are the beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels.
We can't wait to welcome you to our Manly apartment and are happy to answer any questions.
Guest access
-One external stair case to your first floor apartment as seen in the photo. Once inside there are no steps.
- The spacious apartment is yours to enjoy:)
We will send you your check in information and check-in code prior to your arrival. You can arrive anytime after 3pm and depart around 10am if we have other guests staying which is usually the case. Otherwise we can be more flexible with these times.
Notes
**Our apartment and gardens are strictly NO smoking, no parties and no extra guests staying after the exchange is finalised.
*CHECK- IN TIMES* As this is our second property it is used mostly as an Airbnb and is typically booked year round. We are very happy to share it with our exchange partners, but ask that you plan for a check in time from 3pm onwards, and depart by 10am. There are plenty of nearby cafes, restaurants and parks to relax in if you are outside these hours. We can be more flexible when there are no guests prior or after your arrival.
CLEANING: Leave as you found it ready for paying Airbnb guests with beds remade with new linen, or leave $150 for the cleaners that will enter the apartment shortly after your 10am departure. Please let me know once the exchange is finalised which option you prefer, so I can book the cleaner if required.
LAUNDRY:
We know that laundry is a necessary chore during your stay, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you. While there are no laundry facilities in the apartment, there are laundromats within walking distance, and some are just a short 2 minute bus ride away. In case you need to wait for your laundry, there are plenty of great cafes and beaches nearby. We've also provided an iron and drying rack in your apartment for your convenience.

Neighbourhood
Our 2BR apartment is contemporary coastal styled, and situated in a friendly safe coastal neighbourhood. Our neighbours are great:)
We are located on a safe, friendly, and quiet tree-lined street and a paved 4-5 minute stroll to the white sands of Manly Beach.
There is easy access to public transportation with ferries(15-20 minute flat walk) and buses (3 minutes walk) just a short walk away. Cafes, beaches, parks, playgrounds, food and groceries are also just a 4-minute walk away at the popular fresh fruit and vegetable market at Harris Farm.
Manly offers an incredible range of outdoor activities. Take advantage of whale watching tours (May-November), learn to surf lessons, bike, SUP, kayak, snorkel, surfboard, and wetsuit hire nearby, and explore the beautiful bike paths and coastal walks. Additionally, the beach promenade is just a short stroll away from our apartment, providing an excellent opportunity for a scenic walk along the coastline.
Other fun activities include an Escape Room, Manly Art Gallery, or the weekend art/craft markets. Enjoy live music, great shopping, and an extensive range of cafes, bars, iconic pubs, and restaurants catering to all budgets - from casual through to high-end restaurants overlooking the water.
For those wanting to explore the city of Sydney which I recommend, the Manly Wharf and harbour is a beautiful flat 15-20 minutes walk away along the beach promenade or just hop on one of the nearby buses that run regularly to/from the wharf. From there, catch a ferry or bus directly to the city, including popular attractions like the Opera House and Circular Quay.

Getting to my home
From the domestic or international airport in Sydney, you can get to our place by:
1. Uber or Taxi ( easiest - moderately priced depending on time of day)
2. Airport train takes you into the city - to either Wynyard or Town Hall Stations. Change trains to Circular Quay train station ( transport staff can help you find the right platform). Then catch the ferry directly to Manly from Wharf. Catch taxi ( short ride of a few minutes ) or Uber to our property. There are also buses - numbers 199, 166 or 167 ( located at a bus stand to the left as you walk out from the ferry terminal) that take you within a few minutes walk of our place.
3. Catch B- line bus ( yellow double decker buses) from Wynyard Station directly to Manly Vale then a Uber for a short 5 minute trip to our property. Uber's are reliable and plentiful.

Getting around
Stay connected and explore the city with ease during your visit to Manly! We highly recommend downloading the free app 'Triplite View' to access live and up-to-date timetables for ferries, trains, and buses. Don't forget to purchase an Opal card for convenient and hassle-free use of public transport.
For a truly unforgettable experience, hop on the famous Sydney ferry and take in the breathtaking views of the Opera House, Circular Quay, and Harbour Bridge. You can also choose the privately owned Fast Ferry (MFF) for a quicker ride. Buses run regularly and there's even an express service into the city. Plus, the bus stops are just a flat 5-minute stroll away at both ends of our street.
If you prefer to stay local, Manly Wharf offers a variety of bars and restaurants such as Hugo's, Sake, Wharf Bar, El Camino, Queen chow, The Pavilion, and Manly Skiff Club. And with free parking available in the B-Line parking station at Manly Vale, you have the option to drive and explore the beautiful coast all the way up to Palm Beach.
No matter what your preferred mode of transportation is, you'll have plenty of options to choose from. However, with so much to do and see right here in Manly, you may find yourself not wanting to leave at all! So go ahead, spoil yourself with endless choices of exciting activities and breathtaking sights.
We are just a 4 minute walk to a beautiful white sand surf beach with cafes, shops and restaurants everywhere. You can walk, bus or catch ferry. It’s up to you. I swim almost every day at the beach and walk along the beautiful boulevard at the beach. Additionally, Uber and taxis are safe and readily available.

Happy to catch up for a drink or coffee ( great coffee!) in Manly where I can answer your questions and give you recommendations and directions. Manly is a must when you come to Sydney- you will love it:)
Jane and Graham’s apartment was the first of several home exchanges in Australia over a nine-week trip, and we loved starting our trip in Manly. It offered great proximity to the beach, restaurants, stores, parks, and other attractions. The beach has a wonderful promenade and ferry to downtown Sydney is a 23-minute walk away along an inlet. We found it easy to go everywhere on foot and the neighborhood is really lovely.
Their apartment is beautiful and comfortable, and if you want to cook your own meals, you can walk to two supermarkets and a local bottle shop.. With so many eateries in the area, it’s tempting to dine out frequently while you’re there. Manly is lively and there’s always something going on.
We loved being in Manly and look forward to hosting Jane and Graham at our home in Spain.
We loved our stay in this beautiful apartment. Clean, modern coastal decoration, comfortable and homely, with everything you could possibly need. A five minute walk to the beach, and to the park area. Manly is a fantastic place to stay with easy access to Sydney city via a beautiful ferry ride, but with its own character and a wealth of good restaurants and beautiful walks.
We look forward to welcoming you both to our home next year, and hope you have as a good a holiday as you have had.
Jane’s home in Manly was beautiful renovated and thoughtful in having everything necessary for a comfortable stay . It is ideally located with walking distance to manly beach cafes and restaurants yet a quiet street . Jane was very attentive to our needs .thoroughly recommend
Comfortable, cosy apartment exactly as described. We are a couple so we took full advantage of the ferries over to the CBD every day to enjoy all the festivals, art galleries and theatre. However Manly is a lovely part of Sydney in its own right and the apartment is very children friendly. Sydney is always a great city to visit. Highly recommended.
It was a pleasure to exchange our dates with Graham and Jane to their unit in beautiful Manly.
As soon as I reached out to them they were very responsive in accepting our exchange.
We exchanged our house manuals, which was full of everything we needed.
We also exchanged our mobile numbers and emails.
We invited our best friends along as we were all attending a special 70th birthday at the Q Station.
It was great to be able to exchange for three nights, as we travelled for three hours from Jervis Bay and we were well rested for the festivities at lunch time on the Saturday.
The unit was as described, perfect for two couples, clean, many additional items for the beach and the location was perfect.
We would highly recommend an exchange with Graham and Jane.

We loved our weekend away at Jane's stunning Manly home! Jane had thought of every detail - from tea and spices through to an extensive library of books and toys to keep our boys happy all weekend. The location was perfect - far enough from the main drag to be quiet and peaceful, but only a short walk to the beach and all the action. And Jane was brilliant to communicate with the whole way through. We'd highly recommend a swap or stay with Jane.
We were unable to exchange during this time but sure they would be available if we decided to exchange
Absolutely. You are welcome anytime. It was so lovely meeting you Sheila and sharing in some local cuisine. You live in a very interesting country for sure. Thanks for all the recommendations:)
Jane and Graham’s place was gorgeous! Their apartment is attached to their main house but completely seperate. They’ve decorated it really well and it’s completely new and renovated. Jane has thought of everything and the apartment comes compete with kids (and adult) books, prams, cot etc. The only thing they don’t have is a washing machine but there is a laundry mat not far. The beach is at the end of the street - just a short walk and you can either take a slow walk into Manly centre where the ferry is and lots of shopping! Manly is a great location and is quite an exclusive suburb for Sydney.
We stayed at Jane's house over Christmas and it is in such a perfect location with the beach, shops and parks a level stroll away. The house is spacious and modern with all the amenities one could hope for. It has a lovely private deck with a BBQ and lots of living spaces. We cared for Jane's old dog as well since he did not want the long drive they were embarking on. I can highly recommend staying here.
Jane and Graham were perfect guests and good communicators
Jane and Graham were the perfect guests! We had great communication throughout and they left our home cleaner that when they arrived. Thank you for making our first house swap experience a great one.
Our exchange partners were communicative and very pleasant to deal with. We hope they enjoyed their stay in our home as much as we did in theirs. Naturally, our place was immaculate when we returned and we very much look forward to our next exchange with them.
Graham and Jane left our home in a perfect condition.
Everything was clean and laundry was popped into the washing machine, as we had organised.
We feel when your on a exchange, we don't expect you to wash.
Leaving a home feeling relaxed and refreshed is the way we like to experience an exchange.
In saying that, it is all in the communication from your exchange members.
Graham and Jane were good communicators and this really helps the exchange go smoothly.
Highly recommend Graham and Jane and their unit in Manly.

It was a pleasure to host Jane and her husband for a week at our Scotland Island home. They were perfect guests - kind, friendly and easy to communicate with the whole way through the exchange, and very considerate and proactive in the car of our home. They are welcome back any time!
Jane and Graham were great exchangers you can tell they were not knew to this scene. They were respectful and left the home as they found it. Was great to have been able to meet them. Would not hesitate to offer your home to them
Jane and her husband were a pleasure to have ! Wonderful at communicating and keeping in touch about their travel plans .and really just perfect guests!
Any one would be lucky to do a future swap with them !
I was able to welcome Jane and Graham at the local bus station and bring them to Casa Luz. It is always wonderful getting a chance to meet and visit with our PLU family members. We had a lot in common based on our backgrounds and had opportunities to visit at length. Their daughter Laura was able to visit during their stay as she now lives in Mexico City. Jane and Graham were excellent guests and I believe they thoroughly enjoyed their visit. We had an opportunity to visit my home outside of Guanajuato and see the community center (www.resplandorinternational.org) we work at in a rural community.. I am hoping that our family will be able to visit them sometime in the future at Manly Beach! Thanks for visiting us in Guanajuato Jane and Graham. Safe Travels!!!!
It was wonderful having Jane and Graham as guests in Aix . They were easygoing and lovely and after 3 years of exchanging via email , we could finally meet ! Perfect guests ! Thanks and hopefully we'll meet soon in Australia
Jane and Graham stayed in our flat in Antibes after having to wait two summers because of Covid!
After meeting Jane before her stay, communication was quick and easy throughout. There was a hiccup with access but then they made the most of their time on the Riviera. It was lovely to have them as guests and they left our flat immaculate. We can highly recommend them as future guests in your home.
Jane and Graham were excellent guests, really easy to communicate with, and left my apartment sparkling clean. Very nice people, I highly recommend exchanging homes with them 😄
I’d highly recommend to swap with Jane and Graham. They also left out place spick and span. Thanks for our great swap!
Graham and I had a lovely stay in Lisa’s beautiful apartment. The views were stunning, and the colours at sunset were fabulous. We kept ourselves busy with kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding and snorkelling. The snorkeling was some of the best I have experienced- turtles, stingrays, a small shark and an amazing array of fish. It was a truly amazing exchange and we are so grateful to Lisa and Damien for hosting us.
It was a pleasure hosting and meeting Michele and Larry on their first Australian home exchange. They are a lovely couple and made the most of their time in Manly. Everything was left nicely on their departure and we wish them a wonderful remainder of their time here in Australia and look forward to spending time next year in their hometown.
It was a pleasure hosting Abbie and her family in our home in Manly. We were delighted to be able to host them. Communication was lovely throughout the exchange, and we are looking forward to going to Devon next year.
It was a pleasure hosting Lisa, her family and their French exchange student in our Manly property. Communication was friendly and conversational at all times. As guests they were respectful of our home and left everything nicely when they left. We would highly recommend them, and look forward to staying in their property later in the year.
Tina’s home is just beautiful with a comfortable, relaxed and stylish feel. Beautifully renovated with lots of interesting features, the house is situated in a stunning location with mountain and paddock views. The house is about a 20 minute windy drive to the nearest small town, but you will not want to leave the property. We had rain and cold weather every day, but it was still so very lovely with an indoor fireplace to keep us warm. It truly is a special place and we loved every moment.
Thans so much Jane. It was unfortunate about the weather, but I hope you used that as an excuse to relax by the fire!
Peter and Vivienne’s townhouse is located in a residential area about a 15- 20 minutes walk from the beach. It is comfortable and styled nicely with everything that you will need for your holiday. A car is recommended if you wish to explore the region, but otherwise you can enjoy the local area on foot. We enjoyed our stay In lovely Byron.
Peter and Vivienne were polite guests and appeared to have enjoyed their stay in our home.
Baz and Jen and their friends left everything beautifully on their departure. They were respectful guests and great communicators. We were happy to exchange with them and delighted that they enjoyed their time in our property.
Baz and Jen have a lovely home styled in a relaxed coastal theme. From the moment you step in you start to unwind and switch into holiday mode. Everything is organised and immaculately clean with ocean views through the trees. A hilltop oasis.
We would recommend staying with Baz and Jen in their beautiful part of Australia’s east coast.
Thank you Graham and Jane for a lovely review.
Regards
Baz and Jen
Tina was such a lovely home exchange partner, and it was a pleasure having her stay in our home. Tina and her family left everything beautifully and it was a pleasure exchanging messages with her. I highly recommend Tina and her family, and would welcome her back anytime and hope to meet her in person one day. Thank you Tina for a wonderful exchange.
We had a lovely stay at Tina’s home which is set up a hill overlooking Pittwater. It was so comfortable and homely with a view through the trees to to the water. We looked after the chickens and friendly cat during our stay. Tina’s home is a great place for a relax and recharge, as it is on a small island with no distractions. Once you have climbed the hill ( no cars or transport on island) you have the sense you are in a treehouse, but are in a lovely clean well organised home instead.
Thank you for hosting us Tina- it was a wonderful exchange- the house manual was fantastic and so helpful and you were a delight to communicate with.
Sheila and James changed their plans and were unable to make it to Australia, but I am sure they would have been great guests.
We had a lovely stay at Sheila and James home in Tulúm. The house is fabulous and well equipped with everything that you could need. The plunge pool was so appreciated after being out and about in the humid weather. The perfect way to cool off.
Sheila was helpful sharing great suggestions as to what to do and see. We hired a bike for 3 days and also a car to get around, but you can walk to some places too.
It was lovely catching up in town with James and Sheila for a final breakfast before we left.
A great stay!
Reina graciously hosted us for a globe in her studio apartment in Player del Carmen. Her communication throughout our exchange was friendly and helpful which made for an easy exchange.
The studio is located in a bustling part of town, so you feel you are part of the action. There are bars and eateries right nearby and the beach is a 10 minute walk away.
It was lovely coming back to the complexes rooftop pool to cool down after a morning out and about.
Thank you Reina for being such a wonderful host.
So great to meet you and Sam! Come back any time !
We had a wonderful time in Todd’s home. It was so well located right near the centre of Guanajuato, which is a fascinating town.
The house is in the style of the area with gorgeous views across the town. It was hard to leave the balcony at times as the view is captivating. To get to the home there are some steep steps, but worth the climb to get to the view.
Todd was a friendly and gracious host. He took us out to his other property to show us the wonderful work he is doing within the rural community in which he lives. An inspiring and generous gentleman who is very much giving back to his community.
Thank you Todd for a great exchange experience.

Willy is a great communicator, relaxed and friendly. We stayed with Willy for a few nights before she left for her own travels. It was great getting to know Willy and her son in person. Both are really lovely. Willy’s apartment is up a series of stairs in the old part of town which made siteseeing really easy. Great location with everything on your doorstep and the buses to other areas just an 8 minute walk away. We had a lovely stay. Thank you Willy!
We had a lovely time in Rebecca and Rob’s beautiful apartment in Antibes, France- just gorgeous, and in a fabulous location right in the old town. It was great to open the shutters and observe all the local activity going on from early morning to late at night. Antibes is truly a wonderful place and we will go back one day for sure.
Thanks for hosting us Rebecca and Rob! It was great!
We had a wonderful 2 night exchange in Amanda’s lovely apartment. We were lucky to meet Amanda on our arrival, and she was very welcoming and organised. Her apartment is light filled, clean and beautifully decorated in Scandinavian style. Amanda’s apartment is in a fantastic location right near the easy to use metro. We loved everything about our exchange and would highly recommend it. Thank you so much Amanda- you were a wonderful host.
Natalie, Oliver, Oliver’s mum and their two young children stayed in our apartment during their trip to Manly. It was a pleasure exchanging with them and we are so pleased that they enjoyed their stay. Everything was communicated clearly and the apartment was left tidy. Thanks for exchanging with us Nat:)
We enjoyed our stay at Natalie and Oliver’s house in Palyma, Western Australia- our first trip to WA. The house is a lovely character home on a large block of land. The front veranda is gorgeous and the back deck has a lounge setting and dining table for eating outdoors in warm weather overlooking the pool. To get to the nearest town and other site-seeing areas you will need a car as public transport is not a common way of travelling.
We enjoyed looking after their chickens and exploring the beautiful Rottnest Island.
Rebecca, Rob and their daughter Anna stayed in our home for a couple of weeks over Christmas and New Year. They kept good care of our home, leaving it clean and tidy when they left. We felt confident leaving our home in their hands while we were away visiting our parents, and we particularly appreciated the great care they took of our dog during their stay. Thanks Rebecca and Rob!

Hello fellow PLU exchangers! We are excited to welcome you and share in this wonderful journey with you. Like everyone on PLU my husband Graham and I love to travel, explore and experience new, and not so new places. We are open to travel anywhere- both domestically and internationally, and are very open to return to our old favourites already discovered. We are an active couple in our 50's (love the outdoors). I am a very very nearly retired (I keep trying to) teacher and my husband was in Finance. We travel by ourselves as our 3 young adult children are busy with their own lives.
Our property is located in the famous and popular Manly Beach, Sydney- voted by Trip Advisor as Australia's number 1 beach for the past few years. Manly definitely needs to be shared with our travelling community! You will love it:)
Graham and I will absolutely respect and care for your home as if it was ours, and know that our exchange partners will do the same for us. We are happy to do simultaneous, non-simultaneous and globe exchanges. This is our second property and we will do our very best to accommodate you on your first choice dates, but our property is very popular and one of the highest rated STR's in Manly, so there may be times when we need a little tempting :)
Last minute requests are always welcome.
Manly beach has something for everyone....have a Google and I am sure you will be booking your flights soon:)
Looking forward to planning a wonderful exchange with you.
Warmest wishes,
Jane and Graham
