Neighbourhood
We live in one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles, bordering Venice, Santa Monica and Culver City. Our neighbors are friendly and there are lots of families with kids. It is super walkable with cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. within a few blocks. We also have the Mar Vista Farmers market every Sunday--one of the best in LA!
If you're a foodie, you're in luck--within 5 blocks you can get: Taiwanese "soul food," authentic Oaxacan, a Vietnamese bowl restaurant, a French bistro, a German beer garden, an upscale cocktail bar and a Japanese food court (if you're willing to walk 10 blocks, the possibilities are even better, including an amazing ice cream spot). Also, the cafe on our corner roasts their own coffee beans.
Aside from Venice Beach, we are also close (biking or longish walk) to Santa Monica, Marina del Rey and Culver City. Definitely take the time to walk or bike the beach trail--its 26 miles long and beautiful the whole way. Also a short drive to Playa Vista, Beverly Hills, UCLA, LAX.
Nearest airport
LAX is very close, 4.5 miles away.
Getting around
You can walk to a supermarket, pharmacy/drug store, bank, restaurant, cafes, post office, bowling alley, MMA gym, art shops, liquor stores, etc. all within 1-5 blocks. We have a major bus line that goes between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica that stops on our corner (it will also connect you to the Metro light rail in Culver City).
