General overview
Virginia Beach is a centrally located area on the east coast of the United States. Our home is a 15 min drive from the oceanfront boardwalk, ocean breeze water park, aquarium and first landing state park on the Chesapeake bay. Fun Day trips from here include historical Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown, Busch gardens (voted most beautiful theme park in the world and only 45min drive) watercountry USA, the outer banks of North Carolina, Richmond, Va or our nations capital Washington DC and Shenandoah national park
The space
2 story family primary home with 4-5 bedrooms, 2.5 bath rooms, open floor plan perfect for entertaining and relaxing
There are 4 bedrooms in the upstairs.. the master has a queen bed with adjustable base and an attached full bathroom with walk in shower. There is the youngests room with the loft bed, I have recently removed the slide, but it can be added back on very easily. The next room is my teenage sons room with a queen bed and then there is my teenage daughters room that has a twin day bed with another twin trundle under it. And there is a full hallway bathroom with jetted bathtub. Downstairs there is a den with doors so it can be used as a 5th bedroom, it has a futon. This is the room with the fireplace. Also, my living room sofa can easily sleep 2 adults or even more little ones, its big and super comfy! There is a half bath downstairs.
Notes
I usually travel with my 3 children, but sometimes with just 1 of them at a time.. we like to do special 1 on 1 trips every couple years. Sometimes I travel with my long time partner and our blended family which is 2 adults and 5 kids (ages 8-17) if we can all find the time, usually that be holiday or summer trips. Sometimes I travel alone or with friends. And finally if possible I always prefer to bring my most well behaved child, the dog. He’s a 6 year old Pomeranian and is a very good boy, zero risk of him messing up anything in your home. Also, while he isn’t a no-shed dog, he won’t leave fur on your furniture either.. rather his fur comes out in clumps that I can just pick up and that is typically only seasonal. But bringing him along isn’t necessary or a deal breaker for me and hopefully won’t deter anyone from an exchange at my place either. I have trusted sitters that he as well as my cat can stay with if someone prefers not to have my pets in the home when they visit.

I would be open to meeting for a drink and sharing info on all my favorite spots!
We did a 10 day exchange with Ashley's family over Thanksgiving. We had the best time. Ashley's home was the perfect size for our family of 5. Since we both drove and both have dogs, we were able to bring our dog with us and she brought hers to our home. The home had everything we needed and was very clean and in great condition. Ashley shared all her favorite spots with us and made us feel so welcomed. My kids are history and military lovers, so we spent our days exploring all the military museums in the area and even got to go on a battleship and take a boat tour of the navy shipyard. We went to Busch Gardens, found fossils and shark teeth and got to see the magical lights at the botanical gardens. Every day after our adventure, we'd come home for family dinners in Ashley's beautiful kitchen and then snuggled on her coach for movie nights. Ashley's home was so cozy and we felt so at home. We are so thankful for this group and this opportunity to explore Virginia. Thank you Ashley for sharing your home with us!
Ashley's family stayed at our home for a 10 day exchange and left the house spotless and in perfect condition.
We hosted Ashley, her daughter and her friends for a week at our home. No problems. Good communication. We recommend dealing with Ashley without any problem.
Keturah and her family stayed in my home, and were lovely guests. Communication was a breeze and it was especially nice to be able to meet them and their girls on their last day. I would easily recommend anyone to invite them into their home

View of the main living area. The sliding doors on the right side of this photo is the den (5th bedroom)
cozy back deck with outdoor table, seating area, grill, propane fire table and hot tub
If possible I would be open to lending out this vehicle, if not I can at least leave the kayak racks. The neighborhood playground is right next door
view of the entry way. There is a door to the den to the left of the stairs, kitchen and dining to the right
lots of natural light. I bought this home for my plants sake. :) Unless an exchange is over a week long, the plants will not need tending to.
this area is open to the living and dining rooms and ideal for entertaining and hanging with family. There are also 2 ovens in the kitchen and dining table has seating for 8

this is the den or 5th bedroom. It can be completely closed off or open to the living room with sliding doors. The fireplace does work for a cozy winter evening. Not pictured- the green sofa has been replaced with a twin sized daybed and trundle bed, so 2 twin beds in here now
perfect way to end a fun filled day!
The Virginia Beach boardwalk and ocean front is 15 miles away and full of restaurants and things to do
The is a bmx bike park 1 block behind our house that is full of trails for walking or biking. Feel free to borrow our bikes, we have a few trail bikes
Will be happy to share the location of the locals beach and my beach chairs :)
We have 3 kayaks and 1 paddleboard of you would like to use!
This is at the NASCAR roadway in Richmond, VA 1.5 hours away, fun day trip
Sooo much to do for any history fans!!
Anyone interested in Military history will not be bored. The retired navy ship, now museum is located in Norfolk, only 10 min away (as well as the carnival cruise ship dock) There are numerous military bases in this area and the motto of the area is "I love jet noise" due to the naval air station being near the ocean front
our home is located on a cul de sac and is very safe for littles playing outdoors!
My cat Tosh is an indoor/outdoor cat. He will preferably stay home, though other arrangements could possibly be made. He has a litter box, but very rarely uses it so cleaning will not be expected or needed. He will scratch on his post when he wants to go outside (like a dog!)
My favorite beach at my favorite time of day, sunset, with my favorite child ;)
