General overview

Our home is in a quiet cul-de-sac located on the north of the city - originally a village which has now been absorbed into the city. There are easy transport links into Bristol and the countryside. The Cotswolds, Bath and Cardiff are each about an hours drive away. Bristol has a vibrant music scene and lovely parks and harbourside. There are also regular festivals during the summer months including the International Balloon Fiesta, Bristol Harbour Festival, Street Art, Jazz and Kite. And don't forget about our famous local artist Banksy whose work can be seen on many city buildings. Take a look at this link for further details of things to do https://visitbristol.co.uk/things-to-do

The space

Our house comprises of a through lounge/diner with dividing doors. The kitchen/diner has bi-fold doors looking out onto our garden. There is an additional sun-room also looking out to the garden. There are 3 bedrooms available, ( 2 with king-size beds and one with two single beds) a family bathroom (with tub and shower overhead). The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room. Bed sizes in photo descriptions. We also have a travel cot available. Downstairs there is an additional cloakroom/toilet. The fully equipped kitchen has the usual appliances and a Nespresso coffee machine. You are welcome to use condiments and basic food stuff (pasta/rice etc), however please replace anything that runs out. There is a utility area in the garage which has a washing-machine and condenser dryer. There are two Smart TVs and we have superfast wifi.

Notes

Our home is strictly non smoking, however you are welcome to smoke outside but please dispose of the butts considerately. Our home is a shoes off home and we'd appreciate it if you didn’t wear your shoes inside. We don't have any pets but welcome well-behaved non-shedding dogs downstairs. I have put together detailed information on local transport options which I can provide upon request. We don't have a regular cleaner so you will be responsible for this aspect of any exchange, however we can contact our occasional cleaner to see if she is available (at your own cost).

Neighbourhood

Westbury on Trym has the feel of a village within the city. There are plenty of areas of local interest within an hours travel and a great deal of activities to easily occupy a week's visit. There are an abundance of local pubs (one of which has recently been listed in the Michelin Guide) and restaurants within walking distance or a short drive away on Gloucester Rd. Gloucester Rd is a quirky and bohemian area with a large number of independent shops, bars and restaurants. The local shops, which are a 10 minute walk away, can provide all your basic requirements. The Mall shopping centre is a large out of town shopping area and is 15 minutes drive away. There is also a Vue mulitplex cinema and bowling alley in the same area and additional chain and fast-food restaurants.

Getting to my home

Our house is close to the M4 and M5 motorways. The area is also well served by Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads railway stations. For more budget travelling, coaches to the rest of the UK are available with National Express, Flixbus and Megabus. PLEASE NOTE - when driving into the centre of Bristol there is now a Clear Air Zone and you will need to ensure any car you are driving complies - you can check via this link https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz/charges-and-vehicle-checker

Nearest airport

Bristol Airport is an 40 minute drive away or there is a shuttle bus into the city centre from where you can easily get an Uber or local bus.

Getting around

The M5 and M4 motorways are 10 minutes drive. Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads train stations are both about 30 minutes drive. The fast train to London Paddington from Parkway takes about 90 minutes. The Walk Score for our address is 87 meaning it's very walkable and most errands can be accomplished on foot. There is also a very good public bus service running 5 minutes walk away.
