General overview
Gorgeous home on 2 acres of land in a forest setting near rivers and lakes, short drive (25 min) or bus ride (40 min) to city of Portland. Large home great for kids, also a lovely retreat for solo travelers or couples! We can provide kayaks, bikes, stand up paddle board, camping gear, and more to enjoy the outdoors plus lots of fun toys and games for kids. Best of both worlds (country and city) - you can easily walk and bike from the home, easy access to lots of nature as well as great restaurants in Portland!
The space
Our home is 4,000 sq ft (370 sq meters), 4 bedrooms plus an office, 3 full baths, recently remodeled and expanded. Huge fenced yard with gorgeous views of sky and trees. A creek and wetland in the trees with a raised walking path. At the end of our road is a 300 acre nature park with hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails. We have lots of toys for kids, including jungle gym, gymnastics bars and mats, and trampoline. We are a 5 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride from a large grocery store, shops and restaurants, 5 minutes from two freeways and a rapid bus line to downtown Portland. We have kayaks that you can take to rivers and lakes very close by, and bikes to borrow. We have many toys for children and can provide a crib. Outdoors we have a swimming pool and a very large waterslide “slip n slide.”
Guest access
3 floors, 6 stairs to enter home, main level primary suite bedroom (king size bed) and bathroom; 2 bedrooms (double bed and two twins), office, bathroom and playroom upstairs; 1 bedroom (queen bed) downstairs. We also have cots and sleeping bags if you need more beds or camping gear!
Notes
We have two indoor dogs and a pet rabbit with a hutch outdoors, and bunny rabbit comes inside too. For some home exchanges the pets would stay and we ask you to care for them, if you are not able to care for pets we could arrange for them to stay with family instead.

Neighbourhood
We live on a quiet country road just at the edge of the city - it’s the best of both worlds. Our property is 2 acres. At the end of the road is a 300 acre nature park with hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails. It is a five minute drive and 15 minute bike ride to a large grocery store, shops and restaurants. We have wonderful friendly neighbors, however our house has 2 acres of property so we also have lots of space and privacy. There are nearby playgrounds you can walk to from our house and rivers and lakes to kayak and swim in close by.
Getting to my home
From PDX airport it is a 20 minute drive to our house. You can rent a car or take Lyft/Uber. There is a rapid bus transit stop called Salmon Creek Park and ride that is a five minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride from our house. You can take the bus from there into downtown Portland (40 minutes). There is also an Amtrak train station in Portland and Vancouver.

Getting around
It is a five minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride to get to a large grocery store, shops and restaurants. It is a 15-25 minute drive or 20-40 minute bus ride to get into downtown Portland or Vancouver to enjoy many more walkable neighborhoods with restaurants and shops! It is also a short drive to many beautiful lakes and rivers, and a 1-2 Hour drive to the Oregon coast/Pacific Ocean, to mountains/Mount Hood and the Columbia river gorge. Although we are on a country road we are right at the edge of the city so there are sidewalks and bike lanes easily accessible from our house.
