We love our home which we built and have renovated over many years to keep it modern and comfortable. It is set on half an acre in the hills of Perth and has sweeping valley views. With a large swimming pool, decked area, covered patio and reticulated garden the house is ideal for relaxed outdoor living. The sunsets from the deck are amazing and breakfast by the waterfall is a great way to start the day. There are multiple places to sit and enjoy the garden, the birds and wildlife and the view.
Our home is furnished to a high standard with a newly renovated kitchen and all the usual appliances. There is a central unit to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. If you prefer there are slow log burners in both living areas to cosy up in front of during the winter months. The house is all on one level, but the garden is terraced to accommodate the slope. We have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study. The large master bedroom has a king-sized bed and an ensuite with large bath and views across the hills. Two other bedrooms have double beds. The main bathroom also has a deep bath.
Our summers are hot and long, Spring and Autumn have warm sunny days and cooler nights and even our winter is generally warm. Any time of the year is a perfect time to visit.
Roleystone is awash with wildflowers in late winter/early spring. Visitors travel from all over the world to see the amazing colour, variety and volume of flowers only found in Western Australia.

Neighbourhood
Traditionally an orchard growing area Roleystone is now a beautiful bush suburb of Perth. All lots are a minimum half acre which equates to privacy and tranquility. Our local area offers great bush walks, local artists, golf, cafes and botanical gardens. It has all the necessary amenities in its village like centre. Our backyard is the Bickley Valley with many vineyards, restaurants. and galleries. We have our own local markets and many others close by.
Only 30 minutes from bustling Perth and Fremantle we are well situated to explore the many attractions. Rottnest Island with its curious quokkas is a favourite with locals and tourists.
Western Australia boasts some of the best unspoilt beaches in the world from which you can view dolphins at play and whales on their migratory journey to and from Antarctica. There are many tours in and around Perth from scenic river cruises and wine tours to snorkelling and fishing. To the south west you can visit many places of interest -vineyards, tree top walks, natural formations, wildlife, local artisans to mention just a few. To the north is the Pinnacles, the famous Monkey Mia and further north the wonderful Ningaloo Reef. There are numerous other interesting places to visit and experience in Perth and WA which are unique to this country and state.
There are now non stop flights from Europe to Perth's international airport. Use Perth as your gateway to other Australian cities or as a destination itself. You won't be disappointed.
Nearest airport
Perth Airport is approximately 35 minutes away.

Karen and Wally were the perfect hosts-in-absentia, with thorough and timely before-and-during communication and an excellent manual for their beautiful home. Their home setting is spectacularly rural and private, yet access to Perth, Rottnest Island, and the Perth Hills wine country suited our interests very well. An added bonus for us: their wonderful, sociable cat Cy as a companion! Based on our experience of their home, we would not hesitate to host them in ours and hope to have a chance to do so one day.
Karen and Wally have such a beautiful and comfortable home and we were lucky to stay there at the start of the Western Australia leg of our trip.
The house is in a bush land setting in the Perth Hills, about a 40 minute drive from Perth. We didn't use the pool, but spent time on the big deck watching the birds. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Cy the cat was very friendly and great company.
We did some local hikes and spent some time in the city but it was hard to tear ourselves away from their wonderful home. But we did visit Rottnest Island, which was gorgeous and fun to see the quokkas.
We met with Karen and Wally for coffee and enjoyed sharing travel stories. They were very communicative and helpful. We look forward to seeing them again when we host them at our home in California in September.
Karen and her family were a joy to welcome in our home. She is a fantastic communicator and left the house in tip top condition. We couldn’t ask for anymore and would be happy to welcome them again any time.
I didn't get the chance to meet Karen, but she was very easy to communicate with. Karen and her family have treated our home respectfully and left it clean and tidy. 2 of our neighbors commented on the very sweet and kind guests that had stayed in our house, so I can only recommend Karen and Wally to other PLU members :)
We were so happy to have Karen and Wally stay in our home in California. We enjoyed their beautiful place in Perth in May. Sadly, we were not able to see them this time, but communication was great.
They took good care of our home and they are perfect PLU swap partners. I highly recommend them as guests and hosts.
Karen & Wally were lovely guests - respectful of our home & great communication and although we didn’t get to meet them, we hope to when we go to Australia!
Feedback for Tammy·Non-Reciprocal exchange·7 nights
Everything about our exchange with Tammy and Peter was perfect. Their bright, sunny and very comfortable home in Tynemouth is in the perfect location. Within a few minutes we could wander to the high street to enjoy all that this wonderful town has to offer or take a stroll along the beach front.
After a busy day exploring the many interesting sites of Northumberland it was always a pleasure to return home and relax in Tammy's lovely garden.
We were fortunate to be in Tynemouth to enjoy the Mouth of the Tyne Festival. A fabulous yearly event with street performers, parades and music. So much fun!
Although we didn't get to meet, communication with Tammy was always generous, warm and friendly and we were very grateful for the recommendations she offered. We feel very privileged to have been welcomed in to Tammy and Peter's home. If you get the opportunity to stay in this lovely home and explore the beautiful Northumberland you should jump at the chance!
We can't thank Marte & Erik enough for agreeing to this three night exchange. Their home is in the most stunning valley with magnificent views all around. Whilst we weren't able to stay in Marte's PLU listed home she kindly offered us her cousin's house, just 200 metres away. We were very comfortable in this home and had everything we needed.
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Marte (or Erik), but her messages were always warm and friendly. We were very grateful for the help and generosity in offering advice and suggestions.
We loved being in this area, quiet, peaceful and next to the beautiful Hjorundfjord. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge after many weeks of travel. There was also plenty to explore. Our only regret was not staying longer.
Thank you Marte and Erik, I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet, maybe next time!
Feedback for Birgit·Non-Reciprocal exchange·7 nights
We were very grateful to Birgit for welcoming us to her wonderful beach home. It was perfect for our family, on the beach, close to Copenhagen and within easy reach of many troll/giants which our family enjoyed discovering.
The house is cosy, bright and contains everything you need for a comfortable stay. The views from the windows were mesmerising.
Although we didn't meet Birgit her messages were always warm and friendly. If you get the opportunity to stay in this delightful home we recommend you jump at the chance. Thank you, Birgit.
Michele and Larry were wonderful guests and clearly experienced exchangers. They were easy to communicate with and were in constant contact throughout the exchange. Our home was left in excellent condition, clean and tidy and ready for our next guests. Cy was very happy to have their care and attention. We would welcome them back at any time and only wish that we had had the opportunity to meet them.
Feedback for Lynn and Pete·Non-Simultaneous exchange·8 nights
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lynn and Pete's spacious, comfortable and light filled home. Their home had everything we needed and Lynn & Pete were always available to answer any queries.
They are in a great location being only 20 minutes from down town San Diego. We were able to enjoy many of the sights and attractions of the area as well as relax in their back yard overlooking the canyon.
Lynn & Pete are most gracious hosts and we highly recommend them and their beautiful home to anyone who wants to explore this interesting city. Thank you both. If you wander down under again we'd love to catch up.
Feedback for Lynn and Pete·Non-Simultaneous exchange·8 nights
It was a pleasure to welcome Lynn and Pete to our home. We enjoyed catching up with them and would highly recommend them as they were the perfect guests. Communication was great and they left our home exactly as they found it. We look forward to staying in their home later in the year.
Feedback for Laurie·Non-Simultaneous exchange·9 nights
Laurie is the perfect example of an ideal exchange host. She is organised, responsive and clearly cares about her guests. Joe & Laurie’s home is spacious, clean and comfortable and the perfect place for relaxing after a busy day of exploring. (We loved wandering through the garden.) Wakefield is an historic town close to many wonderful places. There is so much to explore and enjoy in this area with wineries on the doorstep, the Abel Tasman National Park nearby and Nelson Lakes a short drive away. Thank you, Laurie & Joe, for your hospitality. We look forward to welcoming you to our home sometime in the future.
