Neighbourhood
The neighborhood is very friendly and there is a playground in the middle of the townhouse area which brings people together. You can barbecue or go for a run or a swim just a few minutes away.
Close by you will find a wonderful lake, football fields, jogging tracks, woods, outdoor gym, grocery stores, and it's just 5 minutes (by car) from downtown Borås.
There is a wonderful zoo about 10 minutes from here, and shopping opportunities. Borås is famous for its textile industry so there are many places connected to that such as the Textile Fashion Center in town. Many museums and a new river boardwalk.

From the moment we stepped into Pernilla’s home we knew we would have a fabulous holiday. The house is beautiful with its little balconies and view of the woods at the back. Pernilla went to so much trouble to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We all slept extremely well and felt at home. Boras is ideally located to explore western Sweden near Gothenburg and its archipelago but it’s also a very interesting town in its own right. We enjoyed woodland walks, picnics and swimming in lakes.
We had a great stay in Pernilla's house. Communication in advance was perfect (and being an English teacher she has excellent English even by the standards of Swedes' English speaking, which was universally very good when we travelled there!). She has a very useful home manual with all the information you need about the house, and lots of tips about the local area. We also had a bit of friendly communication whilst we were swapping.
Her house was ideal for our stay with two teenagers; clean and modern, and nicely decorated. The garden is overlooked at the back by lovely trees and vegetation. It's in a quiet estate where cars are parked a short distance from the houses, making it feel calm and safe, and also conveniently a short drive from several supermarkets. In the local area of Borås, my daughters loved swimming in two different lakes nearby, where there are official swimming places. We also had a couple of lovely walks into the nearby nature reserve - you can either just set off from the front door, or drive 10 mins and take a different trail. We also visited the Textile Museum in Borås which was a well-set out, modern and interesting.
We took up one of Pernilla's recommendations for one of the best places for fika (Swedish custom of socialising with coffee and a sweet treat) by going to nearby Alingsås, a pretty town with several great cafes, and dutifully trying four kinds of sticky bun.
It's about 45 mins to drive to Gothenburg - we spent a whole day exploring the beautiful archipelago, which you can do on the regular car and foot /cycle ferries that connect the islands (which are all free!). We also spent a day in Gothenburg itself, where there is plenty to do - and being a major port, lots of seafood to eat. We took advantage of being near Denmark to do an overnight trip to Copenhagen as well - easily do-able.
I would happily recommend a stay at Pernilla's house.
We had a wonderful time in Pernilla and Sonny’s beautiful home which is equipped with everything you might need. Boras is charming with history, lovely parks, large painted murals, outdoor gyms and museums. We stayed for 2 weeks and decided to walk everywhere with two small children which was totally doable! It's not a far bus ride to the Archipelagoes and Gothenburg which are a must-see too! Pernilla answered all our questions and was attentive to our messages. She suggested meeting her friend Johanna who was fantastic! We did also meet their lovely neighbors (I got in a baking lesson with one: making the classic Swedish cinnamon buns 😋) too! Definitely would recommend!!
Pernilla was such a lovely host. Her English is perfect (putting me to shame as I speak no Swedish). She was very quick to respond and gave loads of ideas for day trips and excursions. Pernilla and her family were dream guests leaving everything spotless and clean on our house and even doing some laundry before leaving. I would recommend her without reservation.
Pernilla and her family were great guests. she was easy to communicate with and was very respectful of our home. They took good care of our cats. I can highly recommend them as exchange partners.
Pernilla and family were perfect guests in our house. Although we didn't meet in person, our neighbours (who handed them the keys and chatted to them a few times) said they were a lovely family! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as guests.
Our guests completed their stay and left our house in good condition. We recommend!
We had a lovely time at Tammy's place in Tynemouth. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous! - spacious with four bedrooms and bathrooms, a huge open kitchen and sitting area and so much more. Beautifully decorated too, and the little garden at the back is a dream. We picked fresh raspberries almost every morning (put some in the freezer and some in our mouths) and on sunny days we sat outside with a coffee. Another positive aspect was generosity on Tammy's part. We got to borrow wet suits and body boards and gave them a try in a few of the many bays close-by. Wonderful area and just a quick walk from the house to the sea. A dream.
Thank you Pernilla ❤️ we’re so pleased you enjoyed time in the sea and our local area and we would have you back any time! Xxx
Tammy and her family left our house much cleaner than it was before we left! Immaculate. They had taken good care of the house and we communicated easily through Messenger during the exchanges if there ever were any worries or questions. Perfect guests!
We as a family had a very good stay in Beverwijk. The house itself is spacious and beautiful with a little garden in the back (with a trampoline which our son appreciated much) We took care of and fed the two cats during our stay and had a pleasant time. Communication with Elma worked well through the app 'What's App' during our stay, which was helpful. When arriving there was also a welcoming gift for us which was very nice. A manual was also provided which we found very helpful.
The location of the house was very good since it was close to other attractions such as Amsterdam, Zaandam, Haarlem and Alkmaar, and the same time as it was close to the beach (around 10 mins). The train station is not far from the house so that could also be recommended if one does not want to use a car.
We stayed in Catherine's home in Watford and had a great stay! The house itself is beautiful and has an interesting history (one that C will supply you with - if you want- when exchanging). There are many beautiful features in the house itself, e.g. the checkered tiles in the hallway and the colorful leaded windows in the front door etc. The three bedrooms are spacious and there are three bathrooms/toilets, which is great for a family stay. As a Swede (with right-hand traffic and broader streets) it was a challenge to maneuver the narrow streets and do parking, but we managed and when leaving we were close to experts at it. :)
Everything you need will be found in the house, and it was easy to collect the key from a neighbor when arriving, and we were also given a welcoming card and a few treats when getting there - much appreciated of course. Communication was swift and good and we exchanged manuals for the houses through e-mail a few months in advance.
While staying in Watford we made daily excursions to Oxford, St Albans, Thorpe Park and Highclere Castle (from the tv-series 'Downtown Abbey'), while also doing some shopping in downtown Watford and getting a glimpse of the wonderful Cassiobury Park (which was just a short distance away). The mural of Elton John (found on a nearby street) was one of my husband's favorite.
When we arrived home the home was left in an immaculate state by Catherine and her family. Everything has been taken care of in a great way and even a "thank you" card and gift was left to us upon our arrival. Great communication during stay and I totally recommend having them as guests in your home.
We loved our stay at Jessica's and her family's home. It was clean, large spaces, everything you needed and set in a tranquil environment. Jessica is great at responding quickly and gave us many suggestions on what to do in the area - there was also some treats for us when we arrived. Recommend big time!
Jessica and her family stayed in our home for about two weeks and left the place spick and span! They helped us with watering our plants and took well care of our home. Perfect guests!
Hooray! Thank you and it was a lovely stay! You’re welcome again anytime!
