General overview
Come experience the beauty I call home! Located on a forested hill overlooking a small lake, my pine cabin is a cozy and peaceful place to relax.
With no cell reception, you’ll be able to completely unplug if you choose, although high speed wifi allows you to stay in touch using wifi calling, stream your entertainment, play video games or work remotely otherwise.
You aren’t that far from the necessities, an amazing country store at the end of the road has everything you could need, local goods from artisans, a deli and takeout counter, and soft ice cream on summer weekends. A handful of local restaurants within a ten min drive also provide options on nights when cooking isn’t in the plans.
The historic quaint town of Perth is a 25 minute drive away, boasting many more restaurants, larger grocery and big box stores as well as great shopping in the downtown core. The capital of Canada, Ottawa, with our Parliament hill, Rideau Canal and byward market as well as countless museums and galleries is a 1 hour drive away and is an easy day trip.
Being in the heart of maple syrup country means pancake and sugar shack house options nearby will send you into a well deserved food coma!
The semi private lake my house is on is easily accessed with a paddleboard or canoe/kayak and is great to swim and fish in.
Come unwind with a book in the hammock on the deck, or enjoy a bonfire watching the sunset. If you are lucky you can watch the mother painted turtles lay their eggs on my hill in the spring, or their babies emerge in the early fall. Loons often nest on the lake. The birds, deer, and wild turkeys are my neighbours. Nature lovers will love walking, snow-shoeing or skiing the 8 acres of forested trails behind my house. The road I’m on is seldom travelled, and a nice walk down it will take you through gorgeous Canadian Shield forest and marsh landscape, beautiful in all four seasons.
The space
The house has southern exposure and is light filled most of the day, with gorgeous sunrise and sunset views. There is an extra large attached deck with a BBQ, hammock stand, outdoor dining area and gardens all around. Highlights inside include heated floors and a heated towel rack in the newly renovated bathroom along with a soaker shower/tub; a split a/c heat pump unit, all new doors and windows, and a extra comfy king sized Tempur-Pedic bed upstairs. The couch makes for a great single bed for a third person in a pinch, and I have a queen double high blow up mattress too. There is plenty of camping space in the yard or out in the spectacular mature pine grove forest behind the house if you like!
The gas fireplace does an amazing job of keeping things toasty on the coldest nights and the breeze off the lake in the summer comes through the house in the most refreshing way. On the hottest days, the a/c will keep you comfortable!
30 min away is an official dark skies observatory…the star gazing is next level!
I have my listing as pets welcome…however this means with prior approval. Please let me know if you are thinking of bringing a dog ahead of time. My house is not cat friendly.

If I am not already travelling while you are at my place, it is likely that I will be staying just down the road at my partner's house (we are neighbours). If I'm around I'm always happy to meet up for a drink or chat.

We (Cory and I) are a couple with no kids who have traveled the world extensively together. The house being swapped is my main home, he has his own place. I work in Environmental remediation and water, and he works in Fiberoptics. We love nature, water views, being on or in water, peace and quiet, epic road trips, snowboarding, roads less travelled, animals and life!
We will treat your home with respect and care and expect the same in return. We are happy to help with household tasks like watering plants, etc.
