We had the most wonderful experience staying at Monika & Rhys' house! The space was perfect for our needs. The house was spotless and well-maintained, making it feel like we were staying at an AirBnB superhost's place. The location on a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood was perfect for a relaxing getaway. Our kids loved the selection of board games, Legos and Barbies in the house.
Monika & Rhys were excellent hosts, providing us with all the necessary information and making sure we had everything we needed for our stay.
Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway. Monika & Rhys' house provided us with everything we needed and more, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Auckland.
We had a wonderful first PLU exchange to Monika and Rhys’s home. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed, including the use of their car for which we were most grateful. Some welcoming touches on arrival. The double storey house was very spacious and clean with a well equipped kitchen and a lovely deck outside the sun room, complete with table tennis table and BBQ.
Monika left plenty of information about the house and the local area plus a folder full of tourist brochures. There are plenty of eateries close by and we can recommend The Street Feast Food Hall and Ambrosia Restaurant at Titirangi Village and The Olive Kitchen and Bar along Scenic Drive.
Green Bay allows easy access to Waitakere Ranges National Park and the Western Beaches. We found the easiest way to get into Auckland was to drive (or Uber) to New Lynn station then take the train right into the centre (Britomart). The highlight of our stay was a visit to Waiheke Island. The ferry runs regularly and is a short walk from the Britomart Train Station. We purchased an AT HOP card for our public transport needs - this covers trains, ferries and buses on both the mainland and the island and credit can be topped up as needed.
The communication with Monika was excellent - both leading up to the exchange and also every day once there. It was just a pity we didn’t manage to cross paths. It would have been lovely to meet up.
Highly recommended. NZ is certainly a beautiful country.
We stayed for two weeks in Monika's home, and it was both spacious and spotless. There were four of us but we could have easily accommodated one or two more people. The kitchen and living room were very comfortable and we had a great stay.
It's very comfortable with a great outdoor space with an eating table and a ping ping table. The neighbourhood is quiet and a car seems important here although there are some nearby bus stops. Fast access to lovely west coast beaches, and a well stocked grocery store nearby.
Can highly recommend Monika as an exchange friend. It was our very first exchange and she was so friendly and easy to communicate with.
We so enjoyed staying at her beautiful home. It was lovely to visit the big city of Auckland but feel like we were staying in a friendly, tree filled community. So close to beaches and the beauty of the Waitakere Ranges, but also super easy to explore all the big city adventures of Auckland. We went to the Zoo, Kelly Tarltons Aquarium, Auckland Museum and the Sky Tower.
Monika's home was so comfortable and welcoming. Our boys loved having their own rooms and trying out the puzzles and games that were left out for them. And Chris & I really enjoyed retreating to the luxury of the upstairs bedroom suite. It felt like a tropical oasis.
In case anyone worries about our family connections, we also loved gathering together on the big couch and watching movies. And sitting around the dining table for meals that were so easy to cook in the well laid out kitchen.
Thanks again Monika and Rhys.
We had a fantastic stay at Monika’s house with our three young children.
Very quiet lovely street with great parks and walks close by. We had a great time at the zoo and MOTAT both been very easy to get too.
Spacious house which had everything we needed and it was immaculate and very well organised.
Great communication leading up to and throughout our stay.
Our home exchange with Monika and Rhys was a wonderful experience. We stayed at their home for two weeks and found it to be the perfect place to explore Auckland and the surrounding areas. We took full advantage of all the wonderful hiking trails located nearby.
The home itself is a spacious contemporary styled retreat. Clean, comfortable, and beautifully updated. The backyard has a large private deck surrounded by tropical foliage.
Working with Monika on exchange plans was smooth and efficient. They even made a special point to meet with us on arrival to show us the home and get acquainted.
I'm so happy to have done this exchange with Monika and Rhys. Aside from the house being perfect for us, they showed such amazing hospitality in so many ways. Now we have new friends in New Zealand and I can't wait for them to come visit us later this year!
Brett and Brett
Monika's house was excellent and she was lovely to deal with and very kind. I would highly recommend her.
We couldn't have asked for better guests than Monika & Rhys! They left our house in immaculate condition, spotlessly clean. Monika even made the beds for us before they left. After a long drive back home, it was such a pleasure to be able to jump straight into bed and relax.
Monika, Rhys and family left our home beautifully clean and tidy. The perfect guests. Thank you so much.
We really enjoyed our long weekend break at Àgnes and Enric' house.
Their place is nice, comfortable, spacious and well equipped, especially the kitchen.
I liked having a cup of tea in the morning in the sun lit dining area.
There is also a lovely patio area and garden outside but we didn't get a chance to use it as it rained for a few days.
Instead we opted for a soak in Oropi Hot Pools, which we highly recommend as well as the best voted toasted sandwich in NZ in 2023 at Clever&Co.
There are plenty of things to see and do in the area, you could easily spend a couple of weeks here.
Thank you once again for the chance to stay in your home.
Agnès and Enric and their two young children were great guests in our home and left our place very tidy. They also managed to do the laundry at the end of their stay even though they had a flight to catch the same day.
They looked after our cat, feeding her twice a day, which we really appreciated.
We couldn't recommend them highly enough.
We had an amazing time at Judy and Gary’s home in Hervey Bay and right from the start felt very welcome. They left a few tourist brochures for us as well as a welcome gift. Their home is spacious, clean and well set up without clutter. The beds were comfortable and bedding was of high quality, kitchen was well equipped. The outside area is beautifully landscaped, we enjoyed spending time there, and particularly the hammock was a hit with our two teenagers. The house has got a few ceiling fans which were handy on a couple of hot days. We had everything we could possibly need.
Hervey Bay and the surrounding region has a lot to offer and we really enjoyed swimming, walking (Botanic Gardens, Urangan Pier and The Esplanade) and cycling. We loved sampling local seafood at Maddigan’s and ice cream next door at a place called Planet72 (72 different flavours!)
Judy suggested swapping cars which worked out well and we were able to explore the area further away. We highly recommend Snakes Down Under near Childers, Bamboo Land, and horse riding at a sanctuary for horses Hucknall Horses. Other two lovely coast places well worth a short trip are Burrum Heads and Toogoom.
Right from the start the communication with Judy was very pleasant and smooth. She always replied to my messages promptly and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Judy and Gary as home exchangers.
Judy and Gary were very friendly and respectful guests and left our home exactly as they found it. We really appreciated the fact that they looked after our cat and watered our collection of indoor plants. They even left us a wonderful bottle of Australian wine and chocolates- it was not at all necessary but shows how thoughtful Judy is. They are welcome back anytime, you couldn’t ask for nicer, more trustworthy exchange partners.
Michael, Leslie and their two adult children stayed in our home for two weeks around Christmas and New Year. They kindly agreed to look after our cat and water our plants, which we really appreciated.
They decided to go and explore other parts of the North Island for a few days on two separate occasions. They informed us well in advance and we had our neighbour looking after the cat instead. Communication was easy, and clear and Michael always replied to my messages promptly.
They left our place in immaculate condition and were very respectful of our home. We highly recommend them as guests and wish we could meet them in person. Maybe one day in Vancouver!
Exchanging with Beth and Chris was very smooth, the communication was excellent from the start, Beth always replied to me promptly. We even managed to meet before and after our exchange which was really nice.
They left our place immaculate and we would happily exchange again in the future.
We really enjoyed staying at Beth and Chris' house in Canterbury. We arrived late in the evening to a cozy warm house, welcome card and some chocolates and wine.
Their house is spacious with a modern, well equipped kitchen and dining area, 3 large bedrooms with comfortable beds. The place can be heated using a heat pump or a wood burner but even though the autumn evenings were cooler the stone walls contained the heat from the sun and we used the heat pump only a couple of times.
After exploring the area each day we relaxed in the sun with a glass of wine, cheese and some walnuts and grapes from their glass house.
We had a blast exploring the area, went horse riding near Lake Coleridge, took Tranz Alpine train towards the West Coast, went on numerous hikes in beautiful countryside (really recommend Washpen Fall) spent an afternoon in Opuke hot pools, visited Air Force Museum in Christchurch, paid a visit to a local cafe and the dairy with the biggest icecream in NZ, my daughter and I even did a watercolour painting workshop one morning. We didn't want to leave!
Thank you once again.
We had a great stay at Gemma's home near Tauranga. The house is very spacious and beautifully furnished. The beds are comfortable, bedding is first-class and touches throughout give it a homey feel. The kitchen is every chef's dream come true. We loved our barista coffee first thing in the morning.
The views from the house were amazing. We also enjoyed a relaxing spa at the of the day exploring the area. Our children loved jumping on the trampoline and feeding some of their sheep and the two cows. They are very friendly animals.
We found the house well positioned, not far from the main attractions. We explored the McLaren Falls area, Papamoa beach and also climbed up Mt. Maunganui.
Thank you once again for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Gemma and her family were great to exchange with, the communication was good and they left our house immaculate! Although they were leaving early they even did a couple of loads of washing (towels and bedding).
It was so nice meeting Brett and Brett during their time in New Zealand, we found them very easygoing and fun. The communication was excellent, Brett always replied to all our messages. Unfortunately due to travel restrictions in the last 2 years we haven't been able to travel to the USA yet but looking forward to catching up with them again.
Mark, Eve and their four children stayed in our home for 5 days during Christmas period. Right from the start the communication was always prompt and friendly.
They looked after our house very well and left it in great condition.
He told us that we are welcome in their Sydney home anytime.
Thanks again.
