Garry and his wife, Jan, were wonderful hosts. Although we had only arranged a hospitality exchange, Garry came to pick us up at the airport when we arrived from Melbourne. He drove us to several places of interest around the city and even took us to see kangaroos in a nearby field—our very first encounter with Australian wildlife.
Jan prepared delicious dinners for us, and we shared many fascinating conversations about our respective travels, the Indigenous peoples of Australia and Canada, politics, and many other topics. It was an absolute delight!
Garry and Jan did everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Their home is beautiful, with a stunning garden that is regularly visited by possums and beautiful birds.
They were incredibly generous and taught us so much about their wonderful country, which we can’t wait to continue exploring. We sincerely hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome them to Montreal one day and return their warm hospitality.
