General Overview

We moved to our new home in Kigali January 2026. It is large, with plenty of space inside and outside. It's close to downtown and many of the notable sites. We are down the road from a great restaurant, with many other options and coffee shops a 5- 10 minute drive away. The Marriott is also nearby for pool (heated!) day use. Kigali makes an excellent starting point for exploring the rest of Rwanda. In roughly three hours you can visit Akagera National Park for a classic East African safari experience and see the Big Five! Another popular destination is Musanze, home to the spectacular Virunga Mountains and Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas. A slightly longer drive of four to five hours brings you to Lake Kivu, where you can relax by the water and enjoy Rwanda’s beautiful lakeside scenery. Within the city itself, there is plenty to see and do. A visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial provides an important and moving introduction to Rwanda’s history. If you’re interested in hands-on experiences, you can also try basket weaving, pottery workshops, or cooking classes featuring Rwandan cuisine, or guided walking tours of different neighborhoods. For relaxation, Kigali offers a number of great spas. We have a trusted housekeeper and nanny who may be available to assist you during your stay. When we are traveling, she often takes leave, so her availability can be arranged on a case-by-case basis. Regardless, she will remain on call to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need while you are here.
