General overview

Our italian place is located in a little original italian village, Germignaga, in walking distance (30min) to the bigger holiday village, Luino with a train station and a ferry terminal . The stunning lake view on the deck is incredibly relaxing and for excitement you take the train to Milan (1,5 hours) or the ferry to Cannobio in Italy or Locarno in Switzerland, (30min). In summer you can also go swimming in the lake. Lovely walks are around.

The space

The apartment has got two bedrooms (1 with pull-out sofa), open plan kitchen/diner and one bathroom, approx 50m2. We love sitting on the deck just watching the lake. Its therapeutic and looks different all the time. With my favourite book, I like snuggeling up in the hammock in the garden. . And of course, we have Wifi ;o)

Notes

The power supply in Italy is a bit weak. So only one powerful machine at a time (e.g. washing machine, or oven)

Neighbourhood

Plenty of opportunities...wednesday market in Luino, or sundays in Cannobio, walk in the Valle Versaca, gondola trip up to Sasso del Ferro, historical sites straight from the house. Car is recommended for those who do not like walking uphill. At the lakefront there is two beaches. One is mostly used by the doggos whereas the other one is used by the locals on a hot summers day. Its gravel and sand. Watershoes are recommended. Calm, friendly atmosphere. Just one kilometer further is the quirky litte Luino for those who want it more busy.

Getting to my home

You can get to our home by train, the nearest train station is Luino, ca. 30 min walk) but we highly recommend renting a car to get around easier. We have two bicycles in the garage that you can use.

Annette

We are a german/kiwi couple with family in both countries. We own a holiday apartment at the Lago Maggiore, Italy. We both work from home which gives us the opportunity to stay in different places. All we need is good internet. Rory is the head of an NGO and Annette works for the hospitality Industry. For 2023 we search for a swap with New Zealand around December. Other destinations could be interesting in 2024 if it would be a swap with another holiday apartment. We travel with 1 little dog if we travel by car. On the plane we do not bring her.
