Neighbourhood

Ask local 20/30-somethings where in Pittsburgh they'd like to live, and Garfield is often the answer. Art, nature and urban culture enjoy a healthy balance here, and some of the city's most renowned restaurants -- from decorated chefs to Primanti Bros -- are just a stroll away. Within a 10-minute drive (or bike or bus ride), you'll find virtually all that the city has to offer. Closest neighboring areas include Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, East Liberty, Shadyside, Millvale, and Highland Park. Another 5 minutes gets you to Downtown, the Strip District, and Oakland's lauded university campuses.

Getting to my home

Fly into PIT and Uber or grab a rental car, or use the local bus system.

Nearest airport

Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is about 20 miles from this home.

Getting around

Pittsburgh's public transit is ever-improving, and our location is situated for easy bus/bike usage. Walking downhill 5 minutes will get you to the 88 bus, which travels Penn Ave (Pittsburgh's main vein). On that same corner, you can rent a bikeshare using the NextBike app. Ubers and Lyfts are, of course, plentiful. An additional bus route (the 89) stops within 500 feet of the property, though it is a more meandering local route. Nevertheless, if walking the hill isn't your thing, the 89 will certainly take you to the bustling East Liberty area with minimal effort. Note that the city's Port Authority buses currently accept cash ($2.75/ride) or their proprietary transit card. The latter is probably not worth the effort for a few days' stay, but for extended stays, you may want to look into acquiring the ConnectCard -- it's available at most Giant Eagle supermarkets.
