Neighbourhood
Our small neighborhood is very friendly and full of amenities: pool, tennis, pickle ball, kayak launch, fishing, dog park, fire pit, and playground.
We even have a great view of the SpaceX launches from Cape Canaveral/NASA if you happen to be in town during a scheduled launch. The best view is sitting on the dock of the neighborhood lake and looking southeast.
This link is a great starting point for day trips from St Augustine/Jacksonville area. Most of these sites are within a 2 hour drive.

People Like Us Local Guide
Meet for lunch or a drink and offer tips on activities around our town.
The owner was extremely easy to contact and correspond with during our stay. The house was incredibly clean and tidy. It had everything we could possibly need. The neighborhood amenities were very nice - beautiful pool. The house and the neighborhood felt like we were staying at a resort. We went to the beach every day we were there. It was just a 20 minute drive and we found a great parking spot (Nease Park) that had a place to wash off. St. Augustine is an amazing little town. It felt like we were visiting a European city.
For the first time we decided to exchange pets as well. The owner’s dog is absolutely adorable. Friendly as can be. And her two cats were also so sweet and friendly. We fell in love with her animals and already miss them so much.
Overall, this was probably the best exchange we have ever done.
You were fabulous guests. Communication was so easy and I can't tell you how nice it was to come home to a clean house.
We miss your pets and fabulous community pool too!
We had a wonderful time at Jennifer’s place jn St. Augustine. The home is beautiful with vibrant art and everything you need to enjoy all the area has to offer. Jennifer was easy going and kind, and an excellent communicator when we had questions.
You took wonderful care of both our home and our kitties! It was wonderful walking into a clean home. You are welcome back anytime!
Our home exchange with Jennifer was susch a great experience. Her home is beautiful, plenty of space , air and light just as you were in Florida :). The house is very comfy and very nicely decorated. She was able to accommodate nine of us which is not easy.
We did get to enjoy beach, pool and oldest city in USA. We fell in love with St. Augustine that we went about three times in a row during our visit. During our stay we did a day trip to Kenedy Space Center which was a hit for all our kids.
Jenn was great with communicating also wich made the exchange go very smooth.
We felt the same about you guys!! Thank you for taking such great care of our home.
Jennifer and family were incredible guests in our home! We knew from the minute we did a zoom call that they would be responsible guests and take great care of our home. And they did! They were great communicators, checking in frequently to let us know how much fun they were having! They explored so much of the coast, and experienced all the "wows" of the PNW. We returned back to the house to find it in excellent condition, ready for the next guests.
I feel like I have a new friend, and am sorry that we didn't get to meet in person, but am hoping our lives will meet up sometime soon. Thank you Jennifer and family for being a great PLU partner!
Thank you for your sweet feedback. It was such a pleasure getting to know you during our stay. The tips and local advice you gave us was spot on! Thank you again Judy and Larry!
Jennifer was an absolutely stellar guest. She is a great communicator and really mentored me through my very first exchange with PLU. She was so sweet about sending me pictures of my animals, expressing excitement about the exploring and sightseeing they were doing and clarifying home information. As a first-timer, I made some boneheaded mistakes and she handled them all very graciously. You will love having her in your home and as a new friend!
Awe, what a sweet feedback response! You were so easy to communicate with too! It was fun checking in each day to see what both our families were doing on vacation. 😊
Jennifer and her family were very easy to accommodate. They kept our house great , left everything clean. I would happily have them over again.
Jennifer and Family were the perfect guests! They were so sweet and took great care of my home. Would love to welcome them back anytime!
Jennifer, her husband, and two teenage children were our first home exchange guests, and it was an amazing introduction to PLU! Even though we have a somewhat "complicated" home, she was able to navigate our home manual and did not need any assistance during her stay (which we would have been happy to give, of course). She left the first entry in our impromptu "Guest Book" with specific hikes that they recommended in Rocky Mountain National Park -- including a photo of their family! She also brought US a gift of fun goodies from her hometown -- amazing! And last, but not least, she left our house impeccably clean, above and beyond what we ask for or expected. That was in itself an incredible gift to come home after being gone 3 weeks and not having to jump into cleaning. We would be thrilled to host Jen and her family again and again, including hospitality :)
Jenny and Mike and their kids were ideal guests with wonderful communication and leaving our house the way they found it. I loved that Jenny posted highlights on FB of her time spent in our home. We couldn't have asked for a better first exchange on PLU. Hope to do it again sometime.
Brian and his family are welcomed in our house anytime!!!
Brian and Hattie's beautiful home backs up to the greenway - a biking and walking path that leads directly to adorable downtown Franklin. Downtown is filled with shops and restaurants and bars that feature live country music. Located 30 minutes from Nashville there is endless activities to enjoy.
The house is very large and had plenty of indoor and outdoor space to spread out and enjoy.
We used Brian's 4 bikes to ride to their community pool daily and to downtown Franklin.
They were very easy to communicate with and we spoke on numerous occasions prior to the exchange.
The exchange went so well, we are talking about doing it again! They left our house very clean. We easily texted back and forth during our exchange about local suggestions and tips. It was really a delightful exchange.
Wow! Wow! Wow! We walked into Judy and Larry's gorgeous home and said, "now that's a million dollar view!"
We travel a lot and I can confidently say coastal Oregon ranks way up there for one of our most favorite holidays. To come home from a day of hiking and sightseeing and get into their hot tub to watch sunset over the sea is priceless.
Judy was a fantastic communicator and just a very generous person. I feel like i made a friend for life. Thank you Judy and Larry for giving our family a vacation our family will be talking about for the rest of our lives.
Selena and her precious family visited our home for a week and took such great care of both our home and two kitties. It was such a pleasure to come home to a clean house after traveling.
Selena is an excellent communicator. We kept in touch during her visit and I could just tell through our conversations that their family is very respectful of our home.
Selena, you are welcome back anytime! Can't wait to visit your home in September.
Thank you so much Jennifer. It was a pleasure staying in such a beautifully appointed home. We just loved Vinny and CiCi! They were both so sweet. Can’t wait to host you in September!
We went to Brenda’s home to pet sit her two sweet dogs, chickens and her adorable cat Hamilton. The house sits on 10 gorgeous, quiet acres. I spent every morning on her deck having my coffee and listening to the birds and rooster. So peaceful.
While the home is definitely in the country, it’s only 30 minutes from downtown Nashville. It was an easy drive back and forth.
She is also only 1.5 hours from Mammoth Cave National Park and our favorite, Lost River Caverns.
I highly recommend the local hangout - The Thirsty Goat. It’s an adorable beer garden with great pizza only 5 minutes from the house.
Brenda was an excellent communicator. Very, very easy to talk to and we stayed in touch throughout the week we were there.
If you wish to visit Nashville or Vanderbilt University, this home would be an excellent base.
Jennifer,
Thank you so much for this amazing review and for taking such loving care of our house and animals. I am so glad that you and the girls got to explore some of the neat attractions nearby and to visit our favorite local spot! You are welcome in our home at any time!!
Mirela and Redi’s gorgeous home in Connecticut made our family vacation extra special. Their home is located in a very historic, charming small town outside of busy Hartford. We were able to take the train to NYC for the day which was the highlight of our trip. Their home was clean, comfortable and spacious.
Communication with Mirela was easy and frequent. My husband and I were able to video call Mirela and Redi to talk prior to our visit about our homes and expectations on how to leave the home. It couldn’t have worked out better!
Mirela and Redi were awesome! I was initially apprehensive because they are a big family - 7 children, but I had no need to worry. I came home to a spotless home and you couldn’t even tell they had been here. They were very, very respectful of my home and we excitedly touched base everyday of our exchange to tell each other about what we had done that day. It was so much fun! I would highly recommend an exchange with this lovely family. They are welcomed back to our home anytime!
Gina’s adorable mountain cabin was just what we needed for a relaxing mini vacation. Set amongst the trees, the porches (both outdoor and climate controlled) were the perfect spot to read a book. The hot tub was used every evening and was a great way to end the day. Our daughter and her friend took the upstairs loft bedroom and even had their own video game system up there!
Our favorite activity from the trip was spending the day at Lake Blue Ridge where you can rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards at Morganton Point Recreation Area.
Gina was so easy to communicate with and I felt very comfortable checking in with her via text. Thank you Gina for a wonderful vacation!! Can’t wait to host you in St Augustine!
One word summarizes Audra’s and Ron’s home - STUNNING! You can tell they put so much effort into ensuring that their guests had everything they needed and instructions on how to use everything in their very updated home.
Their home manual covered all my questions and I found it reassuring to be able to refer to it when using the home theater, their AC and some of their appliances.
I felt so welcomed by the fun welcome basket filled with local goodies. I came home each day exhausted from hiking and tried out a different cold local ale while soaking my feet in the hot bathtub.
Nights were filled with family movies in the home cinema - a highlight for the kids!
Their home was immaculately clean and their beds were so comfortable.
It truly was a total pleasure to come home from a day of sightseeing to such a gorgeous home. Your home made our vacation even more special than it already was. Thank you Audra and Ron!!
We just had a delightful time at Angela and Chris’s house Their home was beautiful and in the heart of quaint downtown with shopping and 17 restaurants. The kayaking in the area is fantastic. Angela was very easy to communicate with. A couple of days before arrival she sent a detailed message with everything I needed to know about accessing her home, wifi, garbage days, etc. Once in the home, she also had a welcome letter that we referred to for our questions. I was VERY impressed with our first experience with PLU. It could not have gone smoother.
