House, 30 minutes drive from Reykjavik, Iceland 🇮🇸
Me, my husband and two young children (1&4), are looking to swap for a house or apartment which can accommodate us anywhere in the world. Preferably somewhere warm.
The space
I’m missing pictures of the entry, daughters room that has a bed and toys, the laundry room and a garage with a ping pong table. We also have a garden with a trampoline and some toys there in the summer time. We have two chairs there and a table as well for you to sit with your coffee/tea while the kids play.
We have a queen sized bed, a crib, one bed in my daughters room that can be adjusted for older kids and a sleeping couch.
Guest access
Our house is on one floor.

Neighbourhood
We live in the centre of a town called Hveragerði and everything is walking distance. Many restaurants close by as well as a supermarket and a public swimming pool. Reykjavík is 30 minutes by car or bus. We’re very close to Reykjadalur hot springs and other beautiful attractions in south Iceland.
Getting to my home
It’s best to travel by car here, but we have a bus system here as well.
Nearest airport
Iceland only has one international airport which is situated is Keflavik. It takes 1h and 15m to drive to our house from there. You can stop in Hafnarfjordur (my hometown) on your way for a good coffee and pastries by the harbour if you’d like.
Getting around
Many restaurants, bakery, pharmacy, library, post office, a supermarket and a bus stop is all in walking distance from our house. Some playgrounds as well. If you want to shop there are some small local shops there, and in Selfoss (10min drive away). But if you want to visit malls there is one in Reykjavik and one in Kopavogur (capital area).
We were very well received. The house is functional and very pleasant.
The children were delighted to discover games for them too.
The house is very well located to visit many tourist places.
Our communication was perfect and allowed us to spend an excellent holiday.
Great exchange!
We were delighted to talk with this family, who knew how to take care of our house as if it were theirs.
Our communication was perfect, which made it possible to be in contact for any questions and to spend a peaceful holiday.
Great exchange!
We had the best time. The house is nice and spacious, and has a wonderful garden with everything a family could ask for, a pool, a lovely sitting area, trampoline and swings! The area is beautiful and close to many attractions, with vineyards everywhere you turn. Emilie was easy to get a hold of and gave us great travel tips around the area. Great location, great home and hosts. We feel really lucky to have stayed in their lovely home.
They were good guests, the house was very clean when we came back home, with everything just like we left it. A happy return :)
