General overview

A big house with a garden, in a calm neighborhood, in a nice town in the middle of the Swedish nature.

The space

Downstair we have a very cosy guest room with a 160cm bed, always available. The guest room door opens to a big living room that we don’t use. Just besides there is a bathroom (with a simple bathtub). The kitchen is so big that we have a sofa and the TV there, is where we always stay. There’s also another small toilet downstairs. Upstairs is the main bedroom (available in case of simultaneous exchange or even in case of hospitality mode it's probably possible to talk about it) also with a 160cm bed, the kids rooms (my daughter’s room won’t be available, but my son’s room has a 80 cm bed that may turns into 160 cm or there is an foldable bed that can be used instead so at 2 persons can sleep there), a huge hall where I have a TV and a little bed sofa (opens to the floor and is enought for 1 adult or 2 kids). Upstairs theres also a bathroom (with shower). There’s also a foldable bed if it needs. Chromecast in both TVs. There's a garden around the house.

Guest access

To accede the ground floor there is 1 step, from the garden.

Notes

There’s a cat in the house. She’s very shy and never meow. It’s an inside cat, doesn’t go out - except last summer when she disappeard during 5 months. It’s a plus if in an exchange the cat can stay.

Neighbourhood

Very calm neighborhood with kids playing outside and a park in the end of the street. 5 min walking from the ice hall, tennis hall, a gym with inside and outside padel court, a nice mini golf and an hamburger restaurant (not fast food). If you walk towards the other direction, 5 min away from a beautiful lake from where you feel hidden from the town (in the summer is good to swim) and 5 min further in the walk there is the hospital that serves the whole region. The house is loccated 30-40 km away both from the biggest (Vänern) and second (Vattern) lakes in Sweden. Same distance to Hornborgasjön, another famous lake, because of the cranes’ migrations. In Skövde there are plenty of places for walks around big, medium and small lakes. In the summer there's a lot of places to swim, in the winter there's a good cross-country ski track. There´s also a downhill but as it requires colder weather in a long time sometimes is not open. There is a nice and cool indoors swimming pool with slides and waves. The ice hall that is next to our neighborhood is a good one. 3 rinks, serves both figure skating and hockey. At least one of the rinks is open all the year, because the training never stops (I know what I'm talking about, my daughter is always there...) and one good figure skating summmer camp has been hosted here in the last few years.

Getting to my home

By car. Or by train to Skövde followed of 8 min by bus and a 2 min walk.

Getting around

The house is 8 min by car/bus away from the center/train station. To the nearest supermarkets it takes 5 min in a bicycle or 20 min walking. The bus stop is 2 min from the house.

Dina

It’s me and my kids living in the house. And the cat, the crazy but silent Miami is back. We are both Swedish and Portuguese. I'm a doctor, specialist in Pediatrics but nowadays working in primary care as GP. My daughter (15 yo) loves ice-skating (A-serie level nowadays) and my son (11 yo) loves football and tennis. When I'm not too tired I walk in this wonderful landscape, ride my bike, SUP in the lake that is 5 min away, swim in the lakes or go for cross-country ski or ice skating in the cold season. I like to cook but i tend not to follow the recipes to the end (I usually try to give some portuguese flavour to my food) and I like to read (but Netflix is also fine). As I'm using all the four languages I can speak in a daily basis (portuguese, swedish, english and spanish) so sometimes it's just a mess with the words... My wonderful partner (a british engineer who moved to Sweden 15 years ago) and one of his kids (13 yo girl) join us a lot.
