General overview
Our home is in the beautiful town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We are in a quiet family neighborhood close to town but still surrounded by trees and nature.
The space
Our home is situated on a cul de sac in a beautiful area of Chapel Hill. We are very close to downtown Carrborro and downtown Chapel Hill. There are museums, theaters, lot's of culture, restaurants and night life in our area and we just love living here.
We bought our house in November, 2016 after we moved here from Florida. To turn a house into a home is an ongoing project but we enjoy working on it all year and making it into OUR home. We have just finished renovating our house so we have three brand new bathrooms, a new kitchen, and a new home office space.
Downstairs, there is an open-concept 2 story living room with beautiful windows. We have a big screen TV downstairs with a DVD player, XBox, a smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc. We love games so we have a huge collection of board games. There is a home office with a piano, a full bathroom with a shower, a laundry room with washer and dryer, and we have a very spacious kitchen with a family room in the back. We love the gas fireplace in our family room, as it creates a cozy atmosphere in gloomy weather. The kitchen is well-equipped and always filled with goodies as we love to cook and entertain. We also have a guest bedroom/library downstairs. The breakfast area next to our family room has bay windows that over look the fully fenced rear yard. We just installed a large trampoline in our backyard and we have lots of space to run around under our giant trees.
We have 4 bedrooms upstairs. Sofia's bedroom has a day bed that can convert to a king size bed if needed. Christopher's bedroom has a twin size bed and Patrik's bedroom has a twin bed. Christopher is a typical teenager, so he has several game consoles and a TV in his room (keeping it out of sight from his younger brother). We have an extra twin mattress and airbeds as well if needed. The hall bath has a bathtub/shower and a toilet and two sinks. That is our kids' bathroom and it is a comfortable size. Our large master suite has a brand new walk in closet and a beautiful and spacious bath which is our sanctuary. We have a king size bed in the master bedroom and plenty of space to relax.
We have two cats: Toby and Panka. We would prefer hosting a family who would not mind having Toby and Panka around during their stay. They are very easy to take care of and not high maintenance cats.

Neighbourhood
We live in Chapel Hill which is a lovely university town in North Carolina. Chapel Hill is part of the Research Triangle area with many international companies and research universities. We are 40 minutes from Raleigh, 2 hours from Richmond, 2.5 hours from beautiful beaches, 3 hours from Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, 4 hours from Washington DC, and 4.5 hours from Charleston, SC.
Chapel Hill's history are cherished by its citizens and admired by its visitors; quiet winding streets, wooded homesites, stone walls, and small shops surrounding the University add to the charm, mystique, and "small-town" atmosphere. Much of the character of Chapel Hill is due to its great natural beauty including steep wooded slopes, small streams, and tree-covered vistas. The integration of these protected natural environments with the cosmopolitan and institutional setting of the University reflect the spirit of diversity and community which is Chapel Hill.
Getting to my home
Chapel Hill is about 30 minutes from Raleigh International Airport. The nearest Amtrack station is in Durham, which is the next town.

Getting around
A car is probably needed, but there is a bus system in town and you can also get around by bike. We would be interested in potential car exchanges as well.

We are a family of 5, but our teens may or may not travel with us. Our children are 19, 17 and 9. They are seasoned home-exchangers as we have been traveling like this for more than a decade.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
