General overview

● One hour north of San Francisco ● Renovated 2 bedroom 1 bath, 1200 sf ● Large landscaped yard with decks ● Beautiful quiet neighborhood ● In the heart of the Wine Country Our spacious guesthouse is close to fantastic wineries, downtown, restaurants, pubs, craft breweries, shopping, and hiking. Set in a very quiet wooded neighborhood on a large lot, you will feel like you are staying in the mountains but are less than 2 miles from downtown Santa Rosa, restaurants, and shopping. A perfect central location for everything that Sonoma county has to offer.

The space

The guesthouse is located behind our main house. It has a private entrance and its own patio and yard area. There's plenty of off-street parking. The guesthouse is roughly 1200sf. The first floor includes the entry, large great room with kitchen, living area, and access to the patio. The second floor has two bedrooms (each with a queen sized bed and walk-in closet) and one bathroom. We recently remodeled the guesthouse and put in hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen is stocked with cooking supplies/utensils, and some basic spices, etc. The great room TV has HULU and Pandora for your use, but does not have regular local TV. Internet access is included. Feel free to log into your own Netflix or other streaming accounts. Our yard is very quiet and hilly, surrounded by Redwoods, Live Oaks, Olives, and lush plantings.

Guest access

To access the property there is a set of 7 steps. The guesthouse itself is two stories, and has a 15 step staircase to get upstairs. There is a keyless lock and you will be given a private access code.

Notes

If your stay is a non-simultaneous swap, there's a good chance we will be home in the main house during your stay. Don't worry, the guesthouse is plenty private. But if you want to talk, have a glass of wine, or just get ideas on what to do during your stay, we love to meet our guests!

Neighbourhood

We are on the hilly outskirts of a residential neighborhood. An excellent area to walk. The neighborhood is very safe. Often you will see deer in our neighborhood or front yard.

Getting to my home

Flying in to Santa Rosa airport, we're a short Uber ride away. From San Francisco or Oakland airport, you would need a rental car. Having a car is best for our location.

Nearest airport

Airports: Santa Rosa (STS): 10 min away, but has limited flights. Oakland (OAK): 60 min away. San Francisco (SFO): 80 min away. San Jose (SJC):120 min away. (Estimated times do not take Bay Area traffic into account. We have ALOT of traffic)

Getting around

We are approximately two miles from downtown and close to an endless assortment of restaurants, pubs, craft breweries, tasting rooms, shopping, etc. Santa Rosa is the main hub of Sonoma County. We are surrounded by small towns, all within about 15 minutes away. Wineries galore and some of the most beautiful California rolling hills and mountains you'll ever see. Sonoma County is a world class wine region. That other wine region (Napa) is just over the hill. ;-) Uber and Lyft are readily available, and work very well for an evening downtown, or for a day of wine tasting. Exploring further out, San Francisco- 1 hour, Napa- 1 hour, Pacific Ocean- 1 hour, Avenue of the Giants Redwoods- 3 hours, Tahoe- 4.5 hours.

Brett and Brett

My partner and I (yes, we are really Brett and Brett) retired early and moved to Santa Rosa in 2016. We enjoy traveling, hiking, cooking (and eating!), gardening, and home renovation (currently working on our 5th renovation). Since we are both retired, it allows flexibility to our travels. Our homeswap is the large guesthouse on our property. We are open to locations, simultaneous/non-simultaneous swaps, and globe exchanges. Brett and Brett
