My home is in the mountains in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 10 km from Cortina d'Ampezzo, home of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games
It is a charming wooden apartment where I go to relax and reconnect with nature. It is an area full of poetry and legends. Five minutes walk to the bus stop to Cortina and the train to Venice. Shops, restaurants and bars fifteen minute walk on car-free pedestrian/cycle path. Half an hour's walk to a famous movie lake with a nice restaurant and games for children. In Cortina you can find everything you like and a golf course.
Ski slopes behind the house or a fantastic carousel in Cortina. Trekking everywhere you look, from simple to difficult.

San Vito di Cadore, ten km from Cortina
The house is in a very quiet area surrounded by greenery, between new and old mountain houses, so not isolated.
The ones you see at the back of the house date back to the 1600s and are under the protection of the Fine Arts of Venice.
Getting to my home
By road via A27 and Sp51. Generally clean in winter and not a dangerous road
By train from Milan and Venice to Calalzo and then bus to San Vito di Cadore-Cortina; or train to Mestre and then two hours by bus with Cortina Express.

Venice
Getting around
The shops are a 10 min walk to a pleasant flat pedestrian street.
Under the house there is a bus stop for Cortina and from there with other buses you can go to the main attractions.

People Like Us Local Guide
I know a lot of trek and walks in the nearbye with or without using the car, legends and habits of the area, local food recipes.
I had the pleasure of being Miriam's first PLU exchange at her second home right in the hearth of the Dolomites in St-Vito Di Cadore. And I think this expression illustrates very eloquently my experience as I found myself in complete awe of the magnificent setting for her chalet's location. You are litteraly nestled between majestous 3000 meters plus mountains including Antelao and Pelmo to name a few.. Her chalet is a truly traditional Dolomite home inside and out. You feel part of the Dolomites. There are tens of publications about the region ( in Italian but a lot of photos) that complete the immersion. Miriam has an evident and profound love for the Dolomites and is generous in sharing her knowledge. You are far enough from the towns center to find yourself in tranquility but close enough ( 10 minute walk) to the local bakery, restaurants etc to feel and experience St-Vito. Her place is an absolute great place to act as a base to explore all that the Dolomites has to offer which is a lot! I recommend Miriam's place.

It was my first exchange and everything went well from my side. We found a connection in our love for Dolomiti area.
I still have to do my exchange in Quebec but I'm sure I'll love it.
