General overview
Welcome to our home - Villa Skovlyst! It is a lovely spacious house with a rather Southern European look, you might wanna say.
The house was built by the President of the local concrete and cement business in 1950. We moved into the house in January 2019, and we are gradually reaching our goal with various restorations both outside and inside. Most recently we made a new kitchen in 2022.
Our garden is a great mixture of wilderness, controlled landscape architecture, vegetable garden and hens life.
The six hens are used to be let out in the free, therefore be aware of hensshit around the house and in the grass ;-D. The six of them lay an egg a day, so please grab them from the nest in the henshouse if you like.
We live in a lovely quiet and friendly neighborhood. Lots of trees and singing birds, squiral and passing swans.
The space
The house is twisted on the plot and thus lies orthogonally on the corners of the world, which is why the living rooms face directly south. That is why we often have a nice light in the house. And another characteristic feature is the corner windows, which offer many different views directly into our beautiful garden and the forest directly opposite. The ground plan is therefore a bit special, see the floor plans in photos from the house.
On the ground floor you will find the master bedroom with a double bed. Dining room and TV room, where Apple TV can be switched on. There is also a large record collection for free use and dancing.
There is also an office with sleeping space, bathroom with shower and the kitchen. The kitchen, which we think is the cosiest in the world - is fully equipped, with a minimalist touch. We like it simple and easy. In the back hall you will also find extra kitchen items, mixer, kettle etc.
From the back hallway, the stairs lead down to the basement, where you will find the second room with a double bed (160 cm), kids room with plenty of Lego, train toys etc. There is also a workshop with junior drum kits. The single room is also in the basement opposite the second bathroom, where you can enjoy a swim in the bathtub!
Down here you will also find the washing machine, and the possibility to dry clothes if they cannot be hung outside.
Notes
We have six hens in the garden - in a hen yard with house. Friendly and good egg producers. Only need corn and water and leftovers from cooking.

Neighbourhood
Just on the other side of the hedge you shall find Langå Stadium, with soccer fields in any size. Our home is situated right in the middle of Skovlyst, a green and relaxed neighborhood, with the very old Oak Forrest and Gudenåen just near by.
In Langå (3000 inhabitants) everything is pretty much within walking and biking distance. Good shopping possibilities - Rema 1000 and Fakta (grocery stores), pharmacy, library, hairdressers, clothing stores, florist, liquor and wine store, butcher, bakery, pizza, fast food, Culture House, Station K - the city’s new concert hall and crossroads for entrepreneurs and creative businesses, and not least Langå Friluftbad (public outdoor swimming pools), which is open all summer. See more at www.langaa.dk.
Tourist in Langå
Many guests come to Langå to see and experience nature. Many for fishing. You will find a good introduction to angling in Langå at Fishing In Denmark or directly at Langå Sports Fishing Association.
Langå is also a good starting point – or pit stop – for canoeists, where there is the option of overnight accommodation at Langå Camping. Just as many enjoy running, hiking or cycling in and around the beautiful hilly landscape that surrounds Langå.
The blown bridge
Close to the Gudenåen, right next to the cycle bridge to Laurbjerg, is the old bridgehead from the former railway over the Gudenån. It was blown up during the Second World War in 1943 by resistance fighters from Randers. They picked up the explosives for the action from the Hvidsten group, where it had been dropped by the English, just north of Randers. You can listen to a podcast about the story here.
Vestparkfestivalen
The Vestpark Festival is held every year at the beginning of August. Musicians and other good people from all over the country make a pilgrimage here. Rhythmic music is played, and many Danish upcoming bands have played some of their first concerts here. This applies, for example, to Carpark North and Marie Frank. The festival runs over two days, and the program usually ranges from acoustic blues and jazz to hard-hitting hip hop and rock. Here you can listen to good music, have a good meal of hot food - and maybe a girlfriend, if you're missing someone like that. The audience is very broad and ranges from teenagers getting their first concert experience to pensioners getting a swing - and all ages in between. See more here: www.vestpark.dk
Getting to my home
The best way to arrive to Langå should be by train. Our home is just a four minute walk from Langå Station, which is connected directly to the rest of Europe. Secondly you should come by car, and drive through the teriffic and beautiful 'Gudenå' delta.
Nearest airport
Aarhus Airport is just 50 km away and Aalborg + Billund only one hour drive from here.
Getting around
The easiest way to go to Aarhus or other cities would be by train. Aarhus is the second largest city in DK. Here you'll find great dining, cosy bars and coffee, art and culture. Go to see the AROS, art museum, take a walk in the cosy old latin quarter, which are full of small boutiques and vintageshops or you might wanna visit 'The Old Town', an open land museum which takes you back in history in a very authentic scenario. (https://www.dengamleby.dk/en/den-gamle-by/)
If you want to go by car, attractions as these is in this distance:
Djurs Sommerland - 45 km (A GREAT amusement park, lots of crazy rollercoasters and fun for both kids and parents) (https://djurssommerland.dk)
Randers Regnskov - 15 km (The 'local' rainforest, both animals, vegetation and smell are very authentic !) (https://www.regnskoven.dk)
Ree Park - 60 km (Outdoor Zoo, multiple animals that you can get really close to)
Skandinavisk Dyrepark - 50 km ( Outdoor Zoo for only scandinavian animals)
The WestCoast - a couple of hours by car, but definitely worth going. Raw, windy, Cold Hawaii / Klitmøller - surfers paradise in the north.
The Eastcoast - or you might wanna experience Mols Bjerge, national park, just 50 min drive from Langå.
Langå is by the way on the hiking route, 'Trækstien', which runs from Silkeborg to Randers.
