General overview

Conveniently situated between Toronto and Niagara Falls so lots to do within less than an hour's drive of many scenic and tourist locations. Beautiful small town surrounded by trees. Enclosed on one side by our Niagara Escarpment a world biosphere reserve and by Lake Ontario on the other. Within walking distance to our small but vibrant downtown area. Thursdays during the summer they close off the downtown to cars and have a farmer's market. Our area was settled by the Dutch and is very well known for all the delicious, local fruits and vegetables! Our street ends at the Bruce Trail which is part of the Niagara Escarpment and has great hiking trails. We are a five minute walk away from a massive park with a baseball and soccer field and our cute downtown with great coffee shops, boutique home and clothing stores. Our town is surrounded by numerous wineries which are becoming quite famous and offer great dining options. We are 30 minutes from Lake Erie, with many small town beach areas and 1 hour from Port Dover, another beautiful small town beach area. Niagara Falls, a world class destination is 25 minutes away and can be reached by train or car. The space

3 Bedroom, 1.5 bathroom cosy home located on a dead end street within easy (5 min) walking distance to a small town downtown with numerous restaurants, patios, a post office, grocery stores and cute home decor shops. Our home has three levels. The main level has the living area: kitchen, dining room, tv room, library (with books and board games) and bathroom. On the upper level there are three bedrooms consisting of two queen beds and one twin. In the basement there is another living area, the laundry room and storage area. Updated decor with lots of charm. Our kitchen has an island that seats three although we have extra chairs if needed. Full dining room. We have a wood burning fireplace in the large tv room that gets used a lot during the winter! We have patio doors that exit into our charming backyard with beautiful gardens, a small pond, a gazebo with an outdoor living area and an outdoor tiki bar! Private fenced yard. The private driveway holds 5 cars. The front porch sits under a huge maple tree and our home is surrounded by friendly helpful neighbours.

Guest access

As this is our main home, guests will have access to the entire home. Bedrooms are on the upper level. Main bathroom with bathtub and shower is on the upper level. There is also a half bath on the main level. Living room, dining room, library and TV room are all on the main level. In the basement we have a kids area with another TV with video games, a workout area and the laundry area. We have bikes that will be available to the guests.

Notes

We have a cat and a golden retriever dog. We can arrange alternate accommodations for them if necessary. Since there is no permanent carpeting in our home (except the basement where our dog doesn't go), we can easily make our home allergen free.

Neighbourhood

The motto in our small town is, “Friendly by Nature” and it is apt. Great road biking options on our escarpment and also mountain biking trails a 15 min drive away. Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are available in the winter. Hiking trails are numerous and vary in intensity. There are also areas to kayak or canoe on either our lake about a 5 min drive away or small water areas that are a bit more secluded and calm, about a 10/15 min drive away. We are a 45 min drive away from downtown Toronto (with no traffic) and there is also the option of taking the train or bus into Toronto. Both train and bus have stops in our town. Niagara Falls is 25 minutes away by car. There is also Niagara on the Lake which is a great area to explore with even more wineries, the Shaw Theatre and an historic famous battleground. We have numerous “beach” areas within walking distance of our home with access to Lake Ontario. Not your typical beach with sand but small rocks and small access points. Great for a stroll by the water or a quick dip. Don't forget to check out the Painted Ladies when you come. It's a neighbourhood in Grimsby known for its beautifully, colourful painted homes. Situated down by our lake so you can take a stroll along our lakefront at the same time. A 5 min drive from our home. We also have numerous access points to The Bruce Trail which is a beautiful forested area with markings so you can stay on the trail. There is a gelato ice cream shop a 10 minute walk from our home (I'm all about ice cream!) and numerous home decor shops in our downtown.

Getting to my home

Our town is located right off the main highway (QEW) so access is quick and easy for any trips. Uber is an option as are shuttles from many of the airports. We have a GO Train that runs from Toronto to Niagara Falls and makes a stop in our town. We also have VIA Rail that makes a stop in our town. It is a 10 minute walk from our home to the train station. Many options!

Nearest airport

Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) airport is 45 min drive away from our home. John C Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) is a 45 min drive away with less traffic than Toronto’s airport. Buffalo Niagara International Airport (KBUF) located in Buffalo, NY is an hour away.

Getting around

We have Enterprise Car Rental right in our town. There's also Uber. We have the GO Train that stops in our town and travels from Niagara Falls, through our area and goes right into Toronto We also have the VIA Rail system that also makes a stop in our town. Both the GO and VIA stops are about a 7 minute walk from our home. It's a 5 min walk into our small downtown with great coffee shops, home decor stores, pharmacy and grocery store. There are also two banks, a post office and numerous restaurants serving Indian, Italian, Pub Style food and many have local bands playing on the weekends. Walk a bit further past the downtown to another higher quality grocery store, hardware store, pet shop and numerous fast food restaurants. Downtown has many good eat in restaurants and cafes and coffee shops. We have both road and mountain bikes available for use and many of the roads in our town and surrounding have bike lanes. For exploring other areas around us, there are numerous options including train, GO transit, bus, taxis and ubers.
