The Caldas da Rainha centro is a bustling commercial hub by day and a peaceful oasis by sundown. It is an extremely safe "cidadezinha" ('little city') with a population of 40,000 including surrounding neighborhoods. Crime is extremely low and residents and friendly and helpful. Nearby attractions include: Óbidos Castle & Town - 10 mins drive Foz do Arelho & Lagoa de Óbidos (beaches) - 10 mins drive Peniche - 20 mins drive Dino Parque - 25 mins drive Nazaré - 30 mins drive Lisbon - 1 hr drive Coimbra - 1.5 hr drive Porto - 2.25 hr drive All neighboring towns and cities are also accessible through the regional coach (bus) network.

Getting Around

<5 mins walk to grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, clothing and gift shop. TOMA minibus around Caldas da Rainha the city stops 1 block away. Rodoviaria Oeste regional bus hub is 1 block away. Caldas da Rainha train station is 3 blocks away. Our car, a Renault Clio with manual transmission, lives 3 blocks away in an underground garage. It seats 5 and has room for 3 suitcases in the trunk. May be available for exchange under certain criteria. Our bicycles will also be available for exchange: 1- Electric Xtracycle cargo bicycle with room for 2 children and groceries. Fits people 157cm and taller. 2 - Swobo three-speed city commuting bike. Fits people under 160cm.
