General overview

Dates currently available: Summer/Fall--End of August through November (great for hiking). Hosting is available In the summer-- July and August. We are often booked for the prime ski months. Possibility of trade during Nov/early Dec for skiing. We are primarily looking for an international trades to Norway, France, Portugal, Italy, Vietnam. Would consider other international locations. Specifically interested in skiing in Europe in 2025 if you want to trade for time in Vail. Our Vail home is located in East Vail, 10 min from the ski resort in quiet residential neighborhood. 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, private office with sleep sofa, sleeps 10, huge wrap around deck, hot tub and pool. East Vail is perfect for families. Walking distance to top notch fly fishing in Gore Creek and a beautiful park with beaver pond, and playground. 10 min free bus to Vail runs 4x per hour. Great hiking right outside your door. Vail is beautiful in the summer and fall--the locals say "you come for the winters, but you stay for the summers! Fall is spectacular with the changing aspen colors.

The space

Large open floor plan. Attached garage (great in the winter!). Our home is a duplex/ end unit with large wrap around deck. Lots of privacy. View of the mountains. There is a shared hot tub and pool (summer only for the pool) in the complex. No issues with parking.

Guest access

2 floors. Upper level: 4 bedrooms, Master with ensuite walk in shower, and 2nd bathroom with tub/shower. Main Level: Private office with sleep sofa, Large open floor plan with living and dining room, well equipped kitchen, 3rd full bathroom w/shower.

Notes

Summer in Vail is even better than winter--incredible hiking, biking, rafting, fly fishing. 10 min to the best skiing in CO and Vail's famous back bowls--available early Dec and April, and possibly more. Ideal for Family getaway--walking distance to park, Gore Creek, playground and tons of on mountain activities for families. Can consider one small dog.

Neighbourhood

East Vail is great location--close enough to take the free bus to the mtn (and not pay for parking) and for nightlife/restaurants, but quiet enough to get away from the downtown noise. It is primarily a residential area, with the best park in the area--great for kids, walking, hiking, seeing the beavers swim at the sunset. Every year we watch the meteor shower from a blanket in the park at midnight.

Getting to my home

Car is recommended (we can not trade as our only car is not in CO). There is bus service from Eagle Airport to Town of Vail, and then local buses. There is also bus service from Denver to Town of Vail.

Nearest airport

EGE (Eagle airport is 1 hour west). DEN (Denver Airport is approx 2 hours east--many more flight connections, we only use DEN).

Getting around

There is a free bus 4x per hour to Vail in the winter (approx 5-10 min walk to the bus stop). Car recommended for grocery shopping.

Amy

We are primarily interested in S. America, Europe (especially Norway) and SE Asia. In the USA, we are always interested in Chicago and NYC, but you never know what may catch our attention! Chris worked in Animal Health and covered the Middle East (15 countries) and I was working at an international school part time teaching (prior to Covid). Currently I tutor K-5 students with the Guatemalan Mayan Learning Center in FL. In our free time, Chris is an avid cyclist and then he comes home and bikes with me. We both like hiking, skiing, kayaking, pickleball, and most sports. Our current focus in on helping businesses in developing countries through USAID (United States Agency for International Development), and we are looking forward to our first assignment in Peru in January 2023.
