Hospitality Description: We have a basement apartment that is fully furnished, private entrance, sauna, kitchen, laundry, and one queen size bed. There are two couches for flexible travelers sleeping or we can lay an additional mattress on the ground for adding sleeping options. If we were home we would be happy to have family dinners together, in summer work in the garden together, take bike rides, hiking, and other adventures in town. We would also be able to share camping gear for you to take your own adventures if we need to stay in town for work. We would respect your space and the balance of sharing and privacy that you prefer and we can manage. Open communication is key and we aim to ensure we create win-win conflict resolution as it arrives.

General overview
Our house is spacious. There are three floors. The basement has finally been completely remodeled! This is a great space for couples or small families to come and do a hospitality visit. The main portion of the house has ample space for spreading out, fish tanks for relaxing to, a bearded dragon, and our dog who could stay elsewhere during your visit if you prefer. We have plenty of gear to share from bikes and helmets to sleeping bags and tents if you want to adventure out of town while you are here.
The space
The basement apartment is available year round for hospitality stays and it is perfect for the summer with the darkness. The apartment has it's own covered entrance/exit, a full kitchen, laundry, a pool table, and a sauna. So come get comfortable!
In the main part of the house on the first floor there is living room with an aquarium, our bearded dragon tank and sofas to visit. We have a projector and screen and various card games, puzzles and board games for entertainment. There is a kitchen with two ovens, an electric stove, a table with space for eight, and a game table that can be used for eating that seats an additional four. There is also a wood stove to supplement the heat in the winter. There is a large garage that joins the kitchen and is the corridor to the garden. The garden has raspberries ready in late July, gooseberries in August and strawberries in June. There are also loads of greens starting in late May in the greenhouse. If you visit in the summer watering and weeding would be greatly appreciated. Back inside on the second floor there are four rooms, one is Marisol's office and the other three are bedrooms. With our extra mattress you can use the office as another bedroom as long as guests are comfortable sleeping on a mattress on the floor. There are two full bathrooms upstairs on either side of the stairwell so guests are not waiting long for their turn.
Guest access
There are three floors in our home. The basement is available year round for hospitality stays. The basement is accessible from the main part of the house if you are a larger group you can feel totally connected. The main and second floor are available for simultaneous exchanges as those are the spaces we habitat, or perhaps we will be elsewhere when you want to visit and a non-sim exchange could fit too. We will put a code in the doors for you to come and go as you please through any person door. The garage door is also able to open with the buttons in the car sun visor. The code should not be shared with anyone outside of your party.
Notes
We have wonderful neighbors who can recommend sites and share their experiences with Alaska so please don't hesitate to introduce yourself. Summer can bring more people out into the park to live so please be mindful of leaving anything outside overnight, often the people living outside are very resourceful and look for forgotten tools or materials to repurpose.

Neighbourhood
We live in downtown Anchorage a block away from the Denali Park Strip, six blocks from the bus depot, 10 blocks from the Anchorage Museum and a few more blocks from the Chester Creek Trail that connects to miles and miles of walking, biking, skiing trails.
The area is residential, mellow, flat, with sidewalks and many pedestrians in the warm months. We park our car on the street and mostly walk or bike around town.
There is a small but ample market about 6 blocks from the house and many restaurants in both Spenard and the downtown area- both of which are an easy 10-20 minute stroll away.
Getting to my home
From the airport there is bus service from the airport, however, using Uber or Lyft or local taxi services will get you to our home in less than 15 minutes. Just take the road out of the airport and take Minnesota north towards downtown and then turn right onto West 11th Avenue. It’s that easy! If you are visiting while we are hear and arriving at a reasonable waking hour we would be happy to come pick you up.

Marisol
We are a family of four, an aquarium, a lizard and a cat. The people are two adults Travis and Marisol and two children Teo and Nico. We all travel together and sometimes just Marisol and the children when they are looking for exchanges to improve their Spanish.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
