Neighbourhood
Time Out's "Coolest Neighborhood in DC" and 29th Coolest in the World:
https://www.timeout.com/washington-dc/news/mount-pleasant-was-just-named-the-coolest-neighborhood-in-washington-d-c-092524
A quote from the Washington Post: "Mount Pleasant has emerged as one of the most diverse and vibrant neighborhoods in the District of Columbia while maintaining a village-like vibe where everyone knows one another. Surrounded by the city’s largest park and the National Zoo, it’s a place with a farmers market on Saturdays, pupusa shops, cafes and plazas. There’s something for everyone."
In Northwest DC and close to DC's sites and monuments, Mt Pleasant is known as DC's "village in a city" with beautiful tree lined streets, grand row houses and a community feel. Mt Pleasant's main shopping street offers an eclectic range of restaurants, coffee shops and stores, or you can choose to enjoy the tranquility of Rock Creek Park, DC's urban National Park, which borders the neighborhood to the West. For kids the National Zoo is an easy walk you can hear the lions from the house) and there are local playgrounds. We're also an easy walk to the restaurants in Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle
Nearest airport
DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) is 20 minute ride; IAD (Dulles International Airport) is approx. 45 minute and BWI (Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport) is about a 1 hour ride.
Getting Around
No need for a car. We're close to 3 bus lines and 2 metro stops (Red and Yellow/Green). Uber and ride sharing are abundant (e.g. the White House is a 15 minute ride). Easy walk to local restaurants and coffee shops (two blocks), and Rock Creek Park/National Zoo is also two blocks away. No need for a car, but there is street parking if needed.
