Neighbourhood

Embo, Dornoch is a tiny village clinging to the coast with a beautiful long, sandy beach, and backdrop of fabulous Scottish mountains. There is a pub, shop, and post office in the village. Dornoch 2 miles away is home of the prestigous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, but also has around ten top class courses in nearby vicinity. Bridle ways and paths lead from Embo to Dornoch along the course and beach, and the other direction to Loch Fleet - nature/bird reserve and site of special scientific interest. Dornoch is a pretty sandstone town with Cathedral (Madonna got married here!) castle, antique shops, cafes and pubs. Castles, distilleries, fishing, hiking, all within easy reach as are the west and north coasts of Scotland. Inverness famous for Loch Ness is 45 minute drive away with international airport and as the fastest growing 'city' in Europe has all the amenities you could wish for, including a monster of course! Edinburgh and Glasgow, a further 3 hours by car. For a centrally situated "Scotland in a nutshell" holiday - Embo is ideal, with all traditional Scottish sights/scenery on the doorstep.

Getting Around

Local shop and pub in village. Bigger shops 3 miles away in Dornoch. Easily walkable by beach and old railway track.
