Berlin beckons! Ours is a large and bright flat in a building from the early 1900s with high ceilings in a quiet but central and well connected street in Berlin-Schöneberg. Kurfürstendamm, the iconic KaDeWe department store and the famous Berlin Zoo are just a convenient walk of about 2 km away
The flat has a large dining and living room, a modern and fully equipped kitchen & bathroom, the master bedroom and a library that can double as a guest room with a good folding bed.
The flat is located in the 3rd floor (European counting). The house has a period lift - which helps for luggage or groceries - but is not wheelchair friendly as it has four outdoor steps and the inner folding doors to the lift narrow both the entrance and the inner space of the lift.
We've had about 12 home exchanges on another platform before joining PLU and all these went very well; during these, we have written a user's booklet with practical information about our home and our personal recommendations for places to see in our area. We've swapped recommendations with several of our earlier exchange partners and we can refer you to those on request. Whe have a friendly community of neighbours in our house who are happy to help if necessary.
Schöneberg is a charming inner residential area of former West Berlin. Our area, the Bayerisches Viertel, was developed around 1900 with upper middle class housing in tree lined streets. Nearby Volkspark to the South and Tiergarten (a bit further to the North) and the surrounding squares and streets dotted with cafés and restaurants are great for short or longer walks.
Groceries can be bought in the nearest supermarket around 200 m away or a shopping mall around 500 m away. Our area is served by two of the major underground lines and two smaller ones so public transport is pretty good in our area.
