Neighbourhood

Camano Island is the island you drive to (no need to wait for ferries). Around 1 hr 15 mins from Seattle or the Eastside. Cross over the bridge and leave all your cares behind on the mainland. Camano Island has a relaxed, laid-back vibe. Home to two of the most beautiful State Parks in Washington State, it boasts long, scenic walking trails that end up on breath-taking beaches. We often see seals checking us out from the water. The wildlife is phenomenal. Our home is by Cama Beach State Park, which has a lovely retro vibe. There is an on-site cafe (with the best scones) that you can walk to. Imagine walking 20 minutes through a forest to get to your breakfast! The Centre for Wooden Boats is also located in Cama Beach State Park, and you can rent kayaks and other wooden water crafts by the hour. Cama is further connected to Camano State Park by a trail, so you can really explore if you like hiking. There are several other walks, including the stunning Barnum Point to the east.

Getting around

Although Camano Island is not over-developed, you will find some lovely eating places, local artisan goods and arts, and can easily stock up on essentials at the Camano Commons or local IGA. A car will give you the greatest flexibility, but you could consider the Stanwood Amtrak Station is close, and transit does run between that and Cama Beach State Park which is close by.
