General overview
The Hidden House is a lovely 3 bedroom period property perfect for families or groups close to the centre of the lovely Devon seaside town of Dawlish.
With a good size garden and patio, views over the hills and just a stone’s throw from the centre of Dawlish, a it’s a lovely base for seaside holiday.
The space
Tucked away on quaint on quirky Regent St, the Hidden House is a light and airy period property with lots of outside space.
There are 3 bedrooms: one with a king size bed, a room with 2 bunk beds (so 4 beds), a double bedroom and a double sofa bed downstairs. There are also two travel cots available.
You can sleep 10 adults (using all beds, inc bunks and sofa bed) but be aware there are only 6 seats for the indoor dining table. If you’re planning on using it as a base, it’d be fine, but if you’d want to spend a lot of time in the house, I’d say it most comfortably sleeps a combination of 4-6 adults plus children.
There’s a main bathroom with bath and separate shower upstairs & a downstairs loo & shower.
The kitchen - which looks on to the garden, is well appointed with double oven, microwave, fridge freezer and hob.
There’s a dishwasher and washing machine and heated drying rack as well as a washing line outside.
The garden consists of a large patio with picnic bench and lawn. There’s also an outside store for prams/boogie boards, inflatables etc.
Guest access
No steps into the house but you access via a covered passage. It is possible to push a wheelchair or pram through and into the property (depending on the width). There is also a downstairs toilet and shower and the sofa bed is downstairs, so if you’ve mobility issues and would rather stay downstairs, this is possible. Please note though that the downstairs bathroom isn’t big enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
Notes
There is free on street parking but it can be very hard to get a space as there are houses both side of the street, but only parking on one side.
The street though isn’t busy and no one minds when you block the street to unload the car. We always do this! We then find parking on a nearby street.
It’s also possible to get to Dawlish by train. The station is about a 15 minute walk and once in the town, everything you need is in easy walking distance.

The house we’d be swapping is a family holiday home, so it might be any combination of:
Me, my husband and our children aged 3 and 1
My 67 year old mum and even possibly her 91 year old mother!
Sometimes I holiday with my mum and the kids.
Sometimes I holiday with just her.
It could possibly be just my husband and I.
Or possibly all of us at once!
