We are fortunte to live in the quaint Texas Hill Country town of Wimberley, which is a vacation spot for many people. Wimberley has many natural amenities, like Blue Hole on Cypress Creek and Jacob's Well. Wimberley is 40 minutes south of Austin, the live music capital of the world, and an hour from San Antonio, home of the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Wildlife is abundant and deer regularly graze on our front lawn. Our custom home has a large family room with fireplace, open kitchen and dining. There are covered front and rear porches, which are great places for morning coffee or evening appertos.
The space
Our home has an open floor plan for the living, dining and kitchen. A 50" Smart TV and large fireplace are in the living room, along with stero LP turntable/CD/DVD player. The kitchen has a double oven, micro/convection oven and air fryer/toaster. The cooktop has 5 burners and is gas.The dishwasher is a Miele and cleans nearly anything. We also have a disposal, and refrigerator with ice maker. The counters are silestone. The kitchen is fully equipped with numerous pots, pans, and everything else you'll need to prepare just about any meal. I like to cook so I have acquired nearly every piece of cooking equipment that exists! The bedrooms are split, with two bedrooms and a full bath with double vanities on one side, and the guest bedroom and bath on the other. All bedrooms have TV's with ROKUs attached. Both bathrooms have a combination bath/shower. The laundry area is between the two bedrooms. All bedrooms have queen beds. A study with a single bed completes the interior spaces. The bedroom floors are faux wood, and the open area floors are brick. To the rear of the house and overlooking a fenced and shaded backyard, is a long covered porch, perfect for rocking away the day, and walk ways to the raised vegetable beds. An open porch is attached to the covered porch where we often enjoy our evening meal. Located in a quiet neighborhood, we are 3 miles to the center of Wimberley.
Guest access
The house is one level, with two steps up to the front porch, and two steps up from the rear porch. There is a parking area in the front, and also in the driveway to the side. The guest suite has 3' doors to the bedroom and bath for access by walker or wheelchair.
Notes
We ihave a lovely Briard, Gemma. Briards are French herding dogs. She is very sweet and loves attention. She likes to walk short distances but only occasionally and not particularly in summer. She requires weekly brushing. We have a groomer who comes to our home monthly to groom her. Gemma is 11, so not a frisky puppy. She's very well behaved, having been trained as a Champion of her breed earlier in her life.

Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood if set on large, heavily treed (min. 1/2 acre) lots. It's comprised mostly of families who often walk with children and/or dogs in the evenings. It's not near a main road so it's normally very quiet. It's an easy place to walk, though there are no specified walkways. The lots are not curbed and guttered. It is close to a walking/biking trail which lead to central Wimberley. It's also close to Blue Hole, Jacobs Well, and to Cypress Creek Swimming Hole, which are great places to cool off in hot months. Hiking up Mt. Baldy is a favorite activity, too. Live music can be found in a variety of venues, including Gruene Hall, a famous old Texas dance hall about 40 minutes away. Otherwise, Savages Hill Country Bar and Mercer Street Dancehall have music most weekends and are each 15 minutes from here. A couple of craft breweries are about 20 minutes away and this area is known for it's wine trail from here into Fredericksburg, an old German town that's fun to visit.
Getting to my home
There are roadways to our home from Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos and Dripping Springs. There is no major highway running through Wimberley (thankfully), so taking I-35 south of Austin or north of San Antonio and then taking the exit for RR 12, heading north, is the best route to get here by car. We do not have public transportation with the exception of once daily bus to San Marcos, and return. In San Marcos, there are buses that connect to Austin and San Antonio.
Nearest airport
Austin, Texas is the closest airport (AUS), about 45 minutes away. San Antonio Airport is about an hour away.
Getting around
We can provide a car for our guests who do not drive their own vehicle. We also have bicycles that guests can use. Since there's very limited public transportation, a car or bicycle is needed to get to shops, sightseeing, and to some amenities.Jacobs Well is an easy walk away.
