General Overview
Our main home is in Victoria BC so we are not looking to swap our Mexican home for British Columbia properties.
Two week minimum stay required per complex rules.
Three bedroom, three bathroom townhome in a 24/7 secure gated community. There are two pools in the complex and two large palapas with lounge chairs, eating areas and charcoal BBQ pits. We are within walking distance to the beach (five minutes) and town square (ten minutes). You have to cross the highway, however there are traffic lights and it is safe. There are two small shopping plazas steps away with an OXXO convenience store (similar to 7-11), pharmacy, bakery, and restaurants.
The Space
Our lovely townhome with air conditioning throughout has three fully furnished bedrooms, all on the second floor: master bedroom with a king size bed, walk in closet and ensuite bathroom. There's a large balcony off the master bedroom with patio loungers- It overlooks the pool; the second bedroom has a queen bed and the third has twin beds which can be converted to a king.
The main bathroom is on the second floor. Both upstairs bathrooms have walk-in showers. There is an additional bathroom on the main floor with a tub and shower. The main floor has a fully furnished kitchen with a gas stove, granite counters and a large refrigerator with ice maker.
We have an entire house water filtration system so it's safe to drink right from the tap. There is a small laundry room off the kitchen with a washer, dryer and laundry tub. Also on the main floor is the living room and dining room with a marble table which seats up to eight.
Wifi; TV. The small front patio at the entrance has patio chairs and a small gas BBQ. There is a covered carport and two parking spaces one where we park our car. The larger back outside patio has comfortable furniture with pull down shades for the afternoon sun. It overlooks the gardens and the smaller of two pools in the complex.
There are ceiling fans in all bedrooms and just about everywhere in the condo. In total we have twelve fans, including those outside both ground floor patios. Because the condo is mostly concrete construction, we often find the interior cooler than outside even without using the AC.
Guest Access
Lockbox with keys plus very friendly neighbours who also have keys to access our home.
While we have a small dog, our complex only allows owners to have pets. So, while personally we would normally allow pets, we are unable to accommodate them in our Mexican home.
Notes
If you want, maid service is available for a reasonable cost, which we can arrange.

Neighbourhood
There are many beach restaurants, bars and fun nightlife all within a short walk. The street taco stands are safe and delicious! Taxi's are plentiful and the bus stop is a short block away. Buses can take you into Puerto Vallarta- about 45 minutes or up the coast to the funky beach towns of Sayulita and San Pancho and the magnificent beach of Destilladares, which I think is the most beautiful on the west coast of Mexico! There are three major grocery stores about 5-10 minutes by taxi or bus. There's also a daily small local Mexican market in the town square. On Sunday there is the local veggie/fruit/prepared local tacos and flea market within walking distance. It's full of the local people getting their weekly groceries, meeting friends and enjoying the day off.
Here is a short video of our little town which gives a very good idea of why we love it here!

Getting to my home
Taxi from the airport is the simplest.
Nearest airport
Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR) is 30-40 minutes away- depending on traffic and day of the week. Weekends in high season are very busy with flights from Canada and the USA.
Getting Around
Buses and taxis are plentiful and reasonable. It's an easy walk to the beach and Centro.
I will leave lots of suggestions for favourite restaurants, things to do, where to go in Puerto Vallarta, Bucerias and the surrounding area.
What a fabulous home Karen & Gail have in a perfect location. It is set within a friendly and very well maintained gated complex which has a pool within 30 paces of their patio and an infinity pool just a few minutes away.
We didn’t have a car when we stayed for 2 weeks in November, which was no trouble at all as the town centre & beach are both only 15 minutes walk. There’s a plethora of bars, cafes restaurants, all within walking distance, Bucerías is a hive of activity. We found it a very safe and friendly vibe in the town.
Public transportation is good to visit places along the coast. Uber etc are plentiful and cheap.
Karen & Gail left groceries and a meal for our arrival, thank you!
Their home is spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and has everything one could possibly need for a relaxing stay.
Karen was always on hand if we had any queries and she responded swiftly. We could not have asked for better exchange partners.
We would highly recommend exchanging with them and their home in Bucerías.
Karen and Gail's home in Bucerias is absolutely wonderful! The complex their home is in, including the pools and grounds, is just beautiful. The home has everything you could want or need to make your stay comfortable. If you ahem a chance, be sure to watch the lightning during a storm from the top deck overlooking the mountains. Beautiful! Karen also was fantastic at communication and a pleasure to chat with. She was so kind to welcome our family into her home. Thank you so much for a great exchange!
What a wonderful two weeks! But not just the time in Mexico itself, the lead up to the exchange was full of great engagement, incredible interactive maps on google, top tips and thoughtful touches to welcome us.
Their beautiful home, and view from all terraces sit amongst a secure and welcoming compound where everyone greets you warmly, knowing you are guests of Karen and Gail. Their home is vast, but cosy, beautifully decorated, with everything you might wish for to cook, bake, relax, and be active. We couldn’t have wished for anything more for a fun packed holiday, enjoying all that the local area offers, all the compound offers and all the home enabled us to do and relax into!
The area itself is perfect, the local community and village of Bucerias is (in our opinion) more glorious than Puerta Vallarta, with an abundance of cafes, bars, local food and amenities. This enabled us to feel safe and welcomed in the community, enjoying local delights and sights whilst being only a short taxi from the busy but enjoyable Puerto Vallarta. Being so convenient to the Northern villages from Bucerias enabled us to go hiking, sitting on white sandy beaches near Punta Mita and even more access to things to do.
Karen and Gail could not have done more to help us feel settled, ensure we had everything to help us have a wonderful holiday and share their special community and home. Thank you both and can’t wait to host you in a few weeks!
Wow what a place! We have fell in love with Bucerías and the people there. The home was immaculate and like a designer had a hand in decorating it. We loved our stay and would come back in a heart beat. The way Karen had everything at our fingertips we could need during a stay was very helpful. Even highlighting the best doctor to see at a reasonable rate. The notes she left were great. Having the pool just at your doorstep when you have kids in tow was a real luxury. Great place, great people!
Aw, thanks Kandes! We are so glad you enjoyed our little piece of paradise. You were our first PLU guests in our Mexican home.
Karen and Gail were great guests. We had smooth communication both before and during their stay. They left our house beautifully clean and even washed the bedsheets (thank you). Thank you also for the many gifts you left us from your area.
Karen and Gail are a trustworthy couple and we would highly recommend and host again in a heartbeat.
It was a pleasure to exchange with you both.
It was wonderful to host Karen, Gail and Karen’s sister in the UK! They were regular in all communication, were generous in the things left behind and in the time spent to look after our home as their home from home.
They left the house immaculate and it was a thrill to hear all about their adventures! We hope to see them again sometime!
Karen and Gail are beautiful people. We had great conversations about traveling. They are very easy, friendly and they took very good care of our house. We really can recommend an exchange with them.
It was such a pleasure to welcome and meet Karen and Gail.
The communication was excellent and we met a few times when they were here. It was a great exchange and I am glad to see the PLU spirit is alive !
Karen and Gail were wonderful guests, who looked after our plants and left our home neat and clean. Communication was great throughout and we discovered a number of shared interests. We would gladly host them again, or organise a reciprocal exchange.
The perfect exchange couple. We would not hesitate to have them come again.
Deb and Grahame were perfect guests in our Mexican home. Everything was left in pristine shape. Our neighbours loved meeting them and our only regret was not meeting them too. Communication was great throughout both ends of our swap. It was a pleasure chatting online with them. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend an exchange with this lovely couple. .
What a serendipitous exchange! I was looking for a future exchange in Utah and at the exact same moment that I favoured Season’s home, she was looking for the next weekend in Victoria! It was meant to be. They had a whirlwind weekend so we only briefly met in the driveway but it was warm and sweet. Great communication! If I didn't know for certain that they were in our separate suite I never would have guessed. It was spotless when they left and while here, so quiet. Great couple and I hope to meet them again when we visit Utah. Vroom Vroom! IYKYK!!
Wow! When we opened the door into Deb and Graham's kitchen/great room area that was our first thought. The patio doors looking out onto the beautiful welcoming garden made us wish we had arranged a summer exchange instead of fall. We could have happily spent our entire time in that garden! The cosy bed and the state of the art shower were the icing on the cake. Oh and such a nice welcoming dinner left in the fridge for us. was so thoughtful. This home is perfectly situated for visiting the old city of York. It's within walking distance but also has great public transportation just around the corner. Communication with Deb and Graham was easy and they responded right away to the couple of questions we had. We only hope that their end of the exchange next month in our Mexican home will be just as perfect for them. We highly recommend an exchange with Deb and Graham and the city of York.
Three of us spent two glorious weeks in Roxane’s fantastic flat. We arrived in the middle of a London tube strike but because Roxane is literally a two minute walk from the “Elizabeth line”, (not part of the tube system) we were still able to manage trips into London central. The location turned out to be just perfect for us. There’s a little convenience store on the way to or from the train where we stopped many evenings for a snack or something for breakfast or a bottle of wine after our long days sightseeing.
The flat itself is clean, comfortable, very quiet and beautifully decorated.
Best of all Roxane is so very easy to communicate with. She answered any questions right away and offered many helpful suggestions to navigate around during the strike.
Did I mention that Windsor Castle is practically a neighbour? Two short stops on the Elizabeth line and a quick transfer to a wee train which constantly goes back and forth to Windsor and there you are, ready to have tea with the king! We went twice both times when leaving shopped mat the large grocery store “Waitrose” right in the train station.
I was lucky to briefly meet Roxane and Sean when they arrived to my Mexican home. My only regret is not seeing them again on our London holiday. Thank you both so much for a perfect time in your amazing city!
Sheila and James are lovely people. It was so nice to meet them and visit a little while they stayed in our home. It was fun comparing our Mexican experienced dealing with tradespeople and the quirks of having a home in Mexico. They left the house in pristine condition. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them stay again!
Meredith and her family visited our home in Bucerias in late August. I was worried that it would be too hot and humid for them but they were troopers and took advantage of low season and the amazing thunderstorms. We had great communication with Meredith throughout. I was so pleased that they chose our home to begin their journey home schooling their children and introducing them to other cultures. They left our home in great shape. We wouldn't hesitate to have them stay again!
I was so lucky to actually meet Roxane and Sean in Bucerias. I was there for an unexpected trip so was able to spend 15 minutes or so with them. They are such lovely people! My property manager said they left our home in perfect condition. All true as the same day they left we had another exchange family arrive to a perfectly ready home. Now it is less than two weeks until we go to London (so excited!!) to spend time in their perfectly located home. I hope we get to meet again and to hear all about their time in our Mexican home. PLU is the BEST!
Allyson and Ryan were perfect guests. Our home was left in great shape after their quick weekend in Victoria. We’re so glad they enjoyed our home and Victoria.
Kandes and family stayed in our Mexican home and treated it well! Our friends and neighbours met them and had nothing but good things to say about them. Sadly, we didn't get a change to meet. Our home was left in perfect condition!
George and Meike's home was located in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood. It was also close to public transportation and a short walk for groceries. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable! The garden is lovely as well. Communication was excellent each time we were in touch.
I would also highly recommend a stay in Arnhem, a city previously unknown to us but it is absolutely beautiful.
We had a delightful time at Alexandra’s apartment. It had everything we needed for a perfect trip to Belgium. It’s located about five minutes from the train station which was so convenient for day trips of which we did many! Antwerp, Ypres, Ghent, Bruges, Kortrijk and more. The grocery store was literally across the street and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. A huge bonus was having Alex on site in her own apartment in the building. We went for dinner one night and another evening she invited us for a home cooked Belgian meal. We now have a new friend and look forward to welcoming her to our home!
Tony and Barbara’s home in Tooting is in a perfect location for visiting London. Just a few blocks from the busy main road yet quiet and peaceful. The kitchen/family room is where we spend our little time at home. It was perfect and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the garden, flowers and trees. Barbara was a joy to communicate with. She was always available to message on What’s App. Our only disappointment was their return flight was late so we didn’t get a chance to meet in person. I highly recommend this lovely home for a visit to London.
Alain was a very quiet tidy guest in our suite. We hardly knew he was here. Everything was left in perfect condition.
Teresa and Masami were absolutely perfect guests. They stayed in the separate suite in our home for a week and other than having the car outside, we would never have known they were here! They were quiet and the suite was left in immaculate condition. Thank you for visiting and we look forward to our exchange in your Oregon home in June!
George and Mieke were perfect guests in the suite in our home. They are a delightful couple and we look forward to meeting them again when we visit the Netherlands in the future. They left our suite in pristine condition. We would not hesitate to exchange with them again!
Super location in the middle of Vancouver Island. Just a short drive to one of the most spectacular beaches on the island. COMFY cozy bed!! Private Pickleball Court on the acreage-large property, nice to get away from it all but in the heart of the city in ten minutes! Very close to spectacular nature that Vancouver Island is famous for!
Mike and Clara were wonderful hosts and guests! Great communication throughout our exchange.
