We want tell everyone about our wonderful experience at Rebecca and Larry’s home (Casa Sandia) in Albuquerque, NM Here's what we loved:
First, LOCATION: We enjoyed the interesting terrain of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We never grew tired of the lovely view of the Sandia Mountains from the home’s courtyard and second story porch! And we could hop in the car and be in the Sandia foothills within a few minutes, where we could hike on well-kept trails, enjoy a picnic at the Elena Gallegos Picnic Area, and/or watch the sun set over the city. The home is in a quiet neighborhood in Northeast Albuquerque, with easy access to all of the interesting and fun things to do in Albuquerque and nearby towns.
2nd, THINGS TO DO: We were there for two weeks and we didn’t come close to doing all that we would have liked to do. One of our favorite things was learning about the Native American Pueblo culture. But we also enjoyed hiking, biking, museums, shopping, (and of course dining). The tram to the Sandia Peak (elevation 10,300, and the longest aerial tramway in America) is just minutes away from the house and there’s a restaurant at the top. The town of Santa Fe (and all the interesting things that it offers) is less than an hour’s drive (or a bit over an hour by train.). That’s the most famous of the nearby towns but there are many others. We hope to come back to visit the ones we missed this time.
3rd, CASA SANDIA: Rebecca and Larry’s spacious and light-filled home was so welcoming, with comfy sleeping spaces, lots of storage space for our things, spacious bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, good wi-fi and a large-screen TV. Plus a courtyard that wraps around the house with fountains, flowers, fruit trees, and hummingbirds!
4th, WONDERFUL HOSTS: Rebecca and Larry may be new to home exchanging, but they are clearly natural-born hosts whose goal is to provide the best possible experience for their guests. We are grateful for their generosity, attentive planning, and great communication. We also enjoyed having Chiquita, their pretty little cat, as a roommate. (That was optional, but we are fond of cats, and happy to have her with us. It didn’t take her long to warm up and she provided us with occasional snuggles and lots of laughs.) We didn’t get to meet Rebecca and Larry on this trip but we hope our paths will cross in the future; we’d love to exchange with them again.
