The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region is touristic in more ways than one, offering nature, built heritage, and gastronomy. The Burgundy canals are an inexhaustible source of flora and fauna, along with the plateau of a thousand ponds (Haute-Saône), the 7 waterfalls of Hérisson (Jura), Mount Beuvray, and the Roche de Solutré. Its capital is Dijon, strategically located between northern Europe and southern countries, and with a heritage mostly historical-artistic, the witness of a magnificent past. It has magnificent monuments and picturesque half-timbered houses. It is also a green city with 700 hectares of parks and gardens, including the Arquebuse Park, with its arboretum, and rose garden. In the commune of Solutré-Pouilly, in the heart of the Mâconnais vineyard, is the Roca de Solutré. This site, a prehistoric landmark, has been declared a French Grand Site. At the foot of this limestone escarpment, numerous horse bones, flints, and artifacts have been discovered. Men hunted here for more than 25,000 years. The region comprises 8 departments (Côte d'Or, Doubs, Haute-Saône, Jura, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Territoire de Belfort, Yonne) and it is often said that the best time to travel here is from June to September, when there is a pleasant climate and hardly any rainfall. Bourgogne-Franche-Comté has what is called an oceanic climate. The average annual temperature is a pleasant 15 °C. Finally, as expected, this region is wonderful for wines, and especially Beune stands out. Travelers usually spend a whole day touring vineyards such as “Côte de Nuits” and “Côte de Beaune”.
