A Global Community Built on Trust and Friendship

I discovered People Like Us Home Exchange in the depths of Covid lockdown. The world was just talking about opening back up and my adventurous spirit was like a caged bird ready to fly.

At the time, the thought of home-exchange appealed to me since it wouldn't be a populated hotel or resort. Staying in someone's home while someone watched over mine seemed ideal. So I went looking for a home exchange forum and found something so much more. I found this incredible community.

At the time many still couldn't travel, or share their homes, but they still could share their hearts. Looking back on posts just before I joined in 2020-21, I could see how PLU took care of each other when nations started shutting down and people were stuck in countries they couldn't leave from. How they shared recipes and laughter, had online meetups and still lifted each other when times were hard.

I had hoped so much that something as difficult as a worldwide pandemic would bring us all together, but in the country where I live, too often it was pulling us apart. My heart that was hurting then, found exactly what I needed here.  A global community reaching out in friendship and trust with those far beyond their borders. A microcosm of how the world should and could truly be.

The members of this community are not only amazing for trusting others and sharing their homes, (a special thank you to everyone who has done that for us, all over the U.S. and throughout 5 continents!) I really believe that each member of this community are points of light all over the globe. Ambassadors for a better world, not because of any position they were given, or because of something they chose, but just because that is who they naturally are. Putting trust in others, opening up their home to those who were once strangers and sharing friendship throughout the world, especially at this time, I believe that means even more than we all can realize.

So grateful for people like these. People like you! So much gratitude for Drew and Kathy too, who are not only the founders of PLU, but are the heart of this extraordinary community, who with the help of so many keep it's core values strong.  So very thankful for People Like Us! ♥️

I also found PLU during Covid and followed them FB and joined because of the feeling of community that I came to know via FB.
